Thailand's visa on arrival can be obtained only by paying the visa fee in Thai currency. After landing at the Bangkok airport (DMK) I searched for the ATMs to withdraw Thai Bahts, but eventually, I came to know that all the ATMs were on the other side of the building which can be approached only after getting the VoA.
Still, I managed to get the visa. Watch this video to know - How?

Did happen with me in June 2017 I forgot to change currency in India and got stuck on swarnbhoomi airport and worst thing is that exchange counters on thai airport were not accepting 2000rs note but then a Thai official helped me in getting my money exchanged from the other side of immigration, I gave him Rs and he went and got it changed to Bhat, I had never experienced hospitality like this even in India . . .

thanks to share your experience can you help me friend i m getting confused about how much cash we have to show at the immigration counter because i have ready so many articles on internet some people are saying 10000baht some are saying 20000baht do you have any idea about that
sagar jangam you don't have to show any cash on the airport but keep at least 4000 Bhat (8000 rs)for visa fee and taxi fee. 1000 bhat is required for visa on arrival nothing extra . . Keep 2 passport size photos, it's Mandatory for visa form. Also it depends what are your expenses and where you are going to stay else people like me or mountain trakker seek cheapest accommodation . . Also you have to fill your accommodation address in the visa form, your hotel address . . .
Plz carry singapore dollars or US dollars with you while travelling to Thailand....money exchangers will give you good rate

Same thing happened with me. I had no cash. I approached the immigration department . They accompanied me to ATM. It’s as easy as that.

Hi, How much time it takes for getting visa on arrival. My tickets are booked to Phuket 2 hrs after landing in Bangkok.

Alpha Centauri please don't be impolite with anyone but be proud of your Indian passport. I had experienced it, and I respect my country even more after my previous encounter in Cambodia. I was cheated by a Pakistani, he nearly got me arrested on Cambodian thailand land Border. . Thanks to my passport Thai officials released me after sometime and said something which I am not going to forget for the rest of my life . . . And then I came to know how much power and reputation our Indian passport holds. . ..
I was released immediately after few hours and was treated with outmost respect by Thai police . . .

Same Happended to me on 22nd Nov. I forgot my Money Purse in Checkin baggage , Travelled by Air Asia. I asked many Indians but luckily one guy from Jaipur Helped me getting out of this problem by giving me VISA Fee. Very big trouble as there is not ATM before Immigartion.

ATM was on the other side of the airport, not exactly outside the dep lounge

Almost shocked that a Pro backpacker like you did not plan to have some cash with you before landing in Bangkok. ATMs always charge huge hefty cuts in the Airports which is the last place one should exchange currency or take out cash.

I want to ask about ATM transaction charge.
I used Kotak Mahindra Bank Debit card. Charged me Thai 200 on 2000 transaction.
I don't know why they charged around 10%. Before that, I was in Bali, Indonesia. I used 3 times my same debit card, didn't charge extra transaction cost.
Since you visited many countries, please tell about transaction charge in various country.

I made same mistake at DMK but fortunately security allowed me to go to withdrawal money from premises area but i left my luggage with them.
Hi ... They also need your passport size photos to affix on the form. I had kept it spare in my hand baggage. Anyone looking fwd to have Visa on arrival, please always carry some local currency in cash. I had seen few Indian boys ahead of me, at Suvarnabhumi airport they were asked to display their cash. Officer took photo of it. I found it weird, & may not happen with everyone.
Preferably currency should not be exchanged at the airport terminals, they charge extra than your city based currency converters.
Also to minimize expenses avoid using cards having base currency of another country. Bank charges are hefty.
