HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 8 авг 2012
- My son and I created some simple wooden stands for our phones and ipods. This is a quick and easy woodworking project that kids might enjoy with a little help from an adult. Be creative and make different shapes and sizes to hold any mobile devices.

Does your son now realise how awesome and cool band saws are now? I am actually serious band saws are so much fun to operate.
Nice idea Steve. I just recently stumbled across your videos today and am enjoying them. Not just for the content, but watching you spend time it's your kids doing them. Like you, i have been able to enjoy small projects with my daughters and passing on what knowledge that was passed on to me, and learning new things together
I absolutely love this idea. I hope you won't mind if I make some for my grandkids. Then they can paint and color them however they want!! These are just so cool!!
I have made heaps of these. They are great. The most useful project to date I think
Wow, thanks Donald! Your message made my day! I can't even go back and watch some of my old videos. lol Thanks for watching and I have more coming soon. I am going to set up a cafepress store soon with my logo on stuff.
Steve, I just made one of these for my wife from a hardwood block and she loved it...Thanks so much for the idea, and I enjoy your channel and projects very much!
Steve W
Watti2kwz Thanks Steve! I've made lots of these for the family and other people. One person ordered 16 of them from me to give as Christmas gifts at their office.
Awesome project Steve. I sometimes use my bandsaw box cut offs the L shaped ones to make stands for my iPhone!
gsxrdemo Thanks! Yes, I do the same. The ones with different woods look cool.
Hello, friend Steve.
As always you presenting the excellent work.

Good, very good. Congratulations!

Thank you very much! Hello down under! You should check out Jord's Woodshop...he's a woodworker in Australia.
nice project for the kids i'm a cabinet maker and do some little projets here & there also but this one it's cute thanx for sharing it
***** Thank you Raul!
I want to make these for my niece's and nephew for Christmas! This is just what I was looking for! thank you for sharing!
They would make great gifts. Just watch out for cutting too thin across the grain where it could break.
any suggestions for doing these with very limited tools! I have a handsaw, a drill, a jig saw and a couple files and chisels that might work
I'm going to give you some links to my templates. This first link is a 3pc phone puzzle that can be cut from 1/4" plywood and slipped together on the notches.

This one can be cut from a solid 2x board. Drill the hole, then make two cuts down to the sides of the hole.

Change the shapes as desired.
thank you sir!
hi steve I have to tell you last night I could not sleep so I sat up and watch all
your shows and I look forward to new shows but I think you need to
sale coffee cups with your logo on it any I think you have one of my favored
woodworking shows good luck
Thanks Steve they are great and easy to make. I made some for my kids and me. thanks again.
shanesmaineshop Glad you could use the idea. Here's a link to a 3-piece puzzle stand that kids would like. Just be sure to make the mating notches the same thickness as the stock you use. drive.google.com/file/d/0B6h-sbaZx3xtRlhreEdnNXR6dzQ/view?usp=sharing
Thanks Steve I will be making that one with the kids. thanks again and keep up the great videos.
Steve Carmichael
Thanks Steve
That is real nice and handy thing to have...thanks for the video!!!:):)
Thanks! Yes, they make great gifts. Everyone around the office notices mine.
Very nice idea, I'll try it to make something of this.

Rico Rico Thank you very much!
I like this .its a good idea
Thanks!
OK, awesome, and thanks in advance if you do!
Great idea, thanks for sharing!
BTW, couldn't tell what size the drill bit was, 3/8 or 1/2" ?
I don't remember, but I make them with 3/4" or 1" slots now, since that allows most phones with cases on them to fit.
cool!
New Subscriber!! I made one yesterday, and it was really fun! Is there any chance you could do one on how to make a phone case?
+VillianSho Hey! Thank you very much! Glad you could make one. I've seen phone cases made before. I might have to try it. I would use my scrollsaw or cnc for that. I have a Windows phone. :)
thanks for showing us tools that no one has
+M.C.Minecrafter Sounds like you need to start collecting tools. Careful, it's a slippery slope.
nice! are there plans or templates?
hey i like your idea and if im going to build it with my hands i mean w/o ur large equipment what aould i use for cutting it om middle?
A coping saw like this one - www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-6-in-Coping-Saw/1018541?-_-store_code=2908&cm_mmc=SCE_PLA-_-ToolsAndHardware-_-HandSaws-_-1018541:Kobalt&CAWELAID=&kpid=1018541&CAWELAID=1367978788&k_clickID=abb678b5-afe8-418a-b462-2b6ef357bdec
Do you sell these?
niiiiiiiccccccccccceeeeeeeee subbed
you could totally sell those! I know I would buy one... Since I don't have any of the tools that you used... ^^;
F Jolliff Thanks! I have sold a few phone stands.
So Nycccc :)
Thank you Kulvir!
Really Great Project...so beautiful...Love it...GOD is Great! His way is perfect.PSALM18:30)
My grandad used to woodwork and he had all the tools you could imagine in his shop. He died about 5 years ago and ever since the tools have been sitting there, now that I'm old enough I want to get into woodworking. The thing is all the books I've read don't have a 'beginner' section and I don't know where to start... Help please on a video I could watch or maybe make a video on where to start. Like I said I have all the tools I need, the problem is how do I use them and what would be a good project to start with. Thanks
Luke Hall Hi Luke - Sorry to hear about your grandad. Sounds like he left you something to work on a bit. See if you can find someone nearby who can help teach you, or if there are any classes you can take. Any store that sells woodworking stuff or even a hardware store may know somebody.
Прикольно !
спасибо (Thank you!)
My phone fits perfectly inside a roll of painters tape. It's cool if I'm watching in portrait mode
Hey, that's a good idea.
All right.
Cool!
I do not have all those wood working tools. wish you would make one using basic hand tools. Thanks
+Eye on art All you really need is a coping saw and some practice with it. Those are pretty cheap at Lowes/Home Depot. It could be the start of your tool collection.
Hello fantastic could share project plans. And I would ask the width and length of wood from Mexico thanks in advance
Hi - I do have a drawing of a newer stand that I've been making and can send it to you.
Thank you very much, it would be a great help. My email is Hernánbaal@gma il.com
+Steve Carmichael Steve can I get a copy of the new stand as well. My computer died and I lost all my patterns. = ( thanks
What size of drill bit did you use?
Rebecca Allan Hi Rebecca - It depends on how thick the phone is. Choose a bit that is a little wider than the phone.
Steve Carmichael Oh and take into account the case if it has one.
can you send me a link to the wood cutter you used?
Jibran Khan Are you talking about the bandsaw? It's an old Craftsman 12" Bandsaw.
yes
thank you
Ccooool
Urgent solution: Use a cassette case.
+mogbaba That's awesome! I actually have a lot of those. lol
Where is the pattern?
Christine Schini We did these freestyle if I remember correctly.
If you had girls...they could bling that thing up haha...glue some blingie on there...you know what you could sell those with some bling and some other type for boys..your son's could design lol
You might want to show those kids how to wear eye and ear protection, it only takes one slip and he will regret it forever.
Ok
Easy DIY, now get your overpriced bandsaw to do it!
LOL, I got this old 1980's bandsaw for free! There are lots of saws you could use to do this though, cheapest being a coping saw if you can't find a free one on craigslist. :P
Oh. Cool :)
Steve Carmichael Thanks for the idea. I did it today with a coping saw and a roud metal file. Granted I did break the coping saw 3 times.
