As a ND fan living in Southern Michigan, this was soooo sweet! I was in my parents car, listening on the AM radio, returning from my 7th grade rocket football game and heard the end of the game. Does anyone remember AM radio? LOL I had a paper delivery route, so, the next morning, I was up 'stuffing papers' (putting the comic/ad section inside the reg. paper) at 5:30 am, and the front cover of the paper was Bob Crable blocking the kick. I had to deliver 65 papers that morning on my bike...and I loved every one of them!
You were probably listening to the late Tony Roberts calling the game on the now extinct Mutual Broadcasting System. I listened to those games too when I was a kid.
Here is a former Liverpool High star QB Pete Holohan who was switched to flanker as Joe Montana was the QB when Pete arrived on campus: 2:38 Holohan played tight end for the Chargers and then the Rams.
I was at that game and we all knew that kick wasn’t gonna be good …. I don’t know why Bo couldn’t recruit a good kicker but under him we didn’t have many .
Michigan lost 4 games that year by only 2, 3, 3 and 2 pts respectively. Closes losses in ‘79 and kicking game issues were corrected the next year. UM defense was still very good.
I was just born in 78, but I love watching these old school Michigan games.

Thank you
Michigan was much better the next year.Had better luck too
1:29:03. that stepping on a player's back to block the field goal would be illegal today. If it was illegal back then no one called it.
A great way to start the season for ND, but it proved to be an off-year for them as they finished 7-4.
5 quarterbacks took a snap for both teams, that's a lot
