I love how you left him puzzled. He doesn't quite know what's going on, he comes to work, smacks things with hammer, and people some times leave him money and take the stuff.
Just wanted to add this tidbit. If you're placing a new merchant inside a new home or any location in which NPC's are intended to be, a navmeshed area has to exist around wherever your new merchant is allowed to travel. LOL, I've lost many new NPC's by forgetting to do this. Thanks much for the tuts DF127, appreciate it.
I know this is a three year old video, but I love your tutorials they are so easy to follow and professional. You cover so many things in them a soon as I need some help I check your channel first.
This works fine. My merchant and his wife are working perfectly. I have them in a custom shop etc. One thing I would like is to be able to make the perkinvestor work so that I can invest with them. I tried to do it and it works - but it never stops working. I can just keep on investing ad infinitum. If you could do a follow up on this to deal with the investment side it would be really appreciated. Edit...about 3 hours after I posted this I worked out what I had left out that was causing the glitch lol Thanks again for these tutorials. They are very helpful.
Great Tutorial. Very easy to follow along with, especially if you are running two screens and have CK up and running on one screen. One small thing: Can you either update or release an addendum tutorial specifically on creating fences (Theives Guild) and incorporating them into a regular merchant character?
Azer Draco That might be a good tutorial to do actually. I've been taking some time away from modding and I have one other video I need to make a a lead up to my last.
This is amazing, thank you so much man, I'm making my first mod ever and it feels so... divine, to be able to just make a dude or a spell and actually seeing it in the game, and it not blowing up my computer xD
It's the same process as uploading it for the first time. You just allow the CK to gather the information from the last time and it auto-fills the image and details. You just click upload and as long as the esp is the same name and the file name hasn't changed, it should update.
Thank you DARKF0X127 for all tutorials. Very usefull stuff. Excellent quality and clear sound but first of all no mistakes. (i found some tutorials where someone was creating weapon rack and when he went to game to test it it wasnt working :) I see you are not reading anything you say so i was wondering if you are Bethesda’s employee ? :D
Still having the issue where the dialogue doesnt come up. I'm trying to make a black market NPC, and everything APPEARS to be in the correct place. I have a relationship to the player, I have the factions, and I even have a suitable voice, yet there is no dialogue. Differences: I have him set to only buy stolen goods, hours 22 - 6 (night), and I want him to be able to buy from any category, even misc. Setting the hours from 0-24 allowed the dialog to appear, but empty. Set the buy/sell list to NOT buy/sell "voicesnull" Doesn't only buy stolen items, even though the checkbox is ticked.
I have followed you tutorials on many things. Most recently a merchant with dialog in FO4. Do you have a tutorial on how to get the merchant show up in settlements randomly? move around from one to another?
So I have tried many times to get my merchant to sell things and have the dialogue selection for it show up, but to no avail. I have even just straight copied the actors, containers and factions (Albeit changing the names slightly as not to confuse them) from base game ones, and, I drop the actor in, go up to them, annnnd no sale dialogue option. =/
Hi there - I've watched your and some other tutorials on creating a merchant, and I cannot get mine to work properly. Is there a difference when you're also creating a new shop interior cell for the merchant to sell in? I have checked every link and step in my shopkeeper multiple times, but she still has no money or inventory - She has the correct dialogue and the buy/sell screen comes up, but both her and my inventory menus are empty. Any chance you could help?
I've been having some trouble with this. I was able to create an inn server just fine with this method, but I can't seem to get my general merchant to work. I've done everything exactly the same, but every time I try to buy/sell stuff to her I find that her inventory is completely blank and I can only sell one item (the Bond of Matrimony) when I have plenty of other stuff I should be able to see. I based the merchant chest off of the Khajiit caravan ones, but made sure they weren't linked.
So if I want an existing merchant to sell an item I have made, do I just need to make a new chest and faction and add the new faction to the existing NPC?
Litte help please. Exelent tutorial Darkfox127 and thansk to you I made basement I always wanted to have, now I want to add a merchant in it and did exactly as you did step by step and when I started the game the merchant wasn't there when i open creation kit I found that was saved as duplicate ( not by me anyway ). The basement do not have navmesh because it crashing my game I don't know why I did that to exactly as your video for navmesh but failed in that and I left it without navmesh. Now what am I doing wrong that my merchant do not show in my basement. Any hint or help would be appreciate. Thanks in advance...
Has anyone had the problem of the merchant they created not giving them any gold for their items? not like the merchant ran out, he has plenty of gold. but when i sell items i get nothing in return. Anyone else getting this?
Hello, i have a problem, I've done everything on the tutorial 6 times now, but when i go to test t merchant, he not there and it deletes what I just did.
TheLambChopCop Not sure if someone ever answered you, but yeah that should be possible. Just instead of duplicating a preexisting merchant chest, just make a new container and link that like you would do otherwise.
I made a ghost by looking at Gallus, the Nightingale ghost at the temple of Nocturnal. Start the creation kit, go to the objects window --> Actors --> Search for Gallus. On the left side of the actor pop-up menu you'll find Scripts. Gallus has a defaultGhostScript. Open your custom NPC that you want to be a ghost. Hit the Add button in the script menu, type defaultGhostScript, select it and hit OK. Under the add button, find Properties. Click it. In the small window that pops up hit Auto-fill All and OK. This activates the script. Return to Gallus and click on the properties button and copy the settings in his script. You need to do it manually. Go to your NPC and click on properties in the script menu. Deactivate all that is turned off in Gallus's settings. Simply mark it and hit the deactivate button to the right of the menu. When your script setting is the same as Gallus's, save it. Nothing will have changed in the preview window in the CK, you need to go into the game to see if the script is running. NOTE! You'll also need to check the Actor is ghost tab in the Actor menu. (Top right side of the Actor menu). Just take a good look at Gallus and copy all the details that seem relevant for what you're trying to do. That worked for me.
I love how you left him puzzled. He doesn't quite know what's going on, he comes to work, smacks things with hammer, and people some times leave him money and take the stuff.

I was struggling with the Merchant dialogue problem. Thanks again, DF!

Thanks for the tutorial. My personal blacksmith is working. :D
you make the best tuts and the most

Innovatorsteve, you have to look in texture nodes using Nifskope
Did he cover how much gold the merchant has and how to adjust? I couldn't see the end result because his own pic is covering it up

For some reason, I don't have all the textures in game, it keeps on sending me warnings when I look at the preview. Any fix?
I've been having some trouble with this. I was able to create an inn server just fine with this method, but I can't seem to get my general merchant to work. No, I'm afraid I don't deal with creating textures and meshes currently.
So if I want an existing merchant to sell an item I have made, do I just need to make a new chest and faction and add the new faction to the existing NPC?
I want to start making mods for skyrim SE. What is the best method to do so for a beginner? Xedit or Creation kit?
Do you know how to re-skin a banner to give it new design or color? I've seen it done a lot, but just can't figure out how to do it.
I can create a merchant, but I'm having a bit of trouble getting him to sell keys, which is "key" to my mod lol. Is there a way to do this?

Can you make a tutorial on how to make chest and containers permanent? so their content don't reset.
Did you save the file, is your esp. enabled in the Skyrim mod load order list? Try that.
remember to set the esp file to active then save.
thx
Is there a way to make him sell only items you want him to sell? Like if I wanted him to only sell Iron swords, arrows, and armor could I do that?
TheLambChopCop Not sure if someone ever answered you, but yeah that should be possible. Just instead of duplicating a preexisting merchant chest, just make a new container and link that like you would do otherwise.
Zyrus Exactly!
i figured it out. a merchant cannot have more than 32767 gold or it will glitch out says a wiki page
Is it possible to make a mod showing how to make ghost npc's.
Ctrl+ f4 dont work FUCKING HELL BETHESDA
