I've known Karl on and off for several years and I can honestly say he's one of the most genuine people I've ever met. He's had so many exciting experiences but never brags about anything, he just tells you the story how it really is. I thought jumping off the Pattaya Tower from the 52nd floor on a zip wire with him back in 1997 was exciting but Karl has gone way beyond that. His RUclips videos are captivating as well as informative and so very much more interesting than so many RUclipsrs who constantly walk up and down the same streets in Bangkok. I really enjoyed this interview, thank you Pete and Karl.

Khao Yai trail number 5 is the one he got lost with me. Deep in the rain season leaches jumping all over us and he's like 'you know what I'm lost' the next thing we're trying to get through a swamp heavily sinking in the mud. I could feel the leaches burrowing under my skin not a pleasant feeling. We come to cross a river and he's like just hang I'll make sure there's no crocodiles. Just wanted you to know I'm a big fan of You and thairish times. 60 yr old white American expat sunk everything into a business with my 40 yr+ best friend, only to be cut out. Starting over. Broke, but not beaten
Hope one day to be interviewed by you to tell my story. Keep up the good work!

I wish more expats made the small effort to learn the language. There would be far fewer miserable looking scowling foreigners here. Great interview with Karl and he has gained another subscriber. Wish there were more realistic channels like his out of Thailand. So much dangerous crap on RUclips a lot of flash, B.S. and very gullible viewers.

I swear, Pete, I don't care how modern the building is, there is NO WAY I would walk on the glass floor where I can see hundreds and hundreds feet down. 😱. Yes, true, some people are more materialistic and tactless. My American (secret millionaire) Step-dad taught me when I first came to the USA many, many moons ago, to NEVER discuss RELIGION, POLITICS, AND MONEY with anyone, because it can only lead to an argument, resentment & jealousy. I appreciate Karl's honest opinions. Well done.

Amazing interview. Really took me down memory lane when Carl mentioned Freddy"s guest house where I often stayed. I remember Mrs.Freddy like it was yesterday. I have been coming to Thailand over 40 years now. Also Carl I am sure remembers the Boston Inn ( no longer exists). It was the first hotel I ever stayed in Thailand. It was build by US (along with the Malaysia hotel) for American servicemen on R&,R during the Vietnam war. After the war these hotel were apparently sold to Thais. I have stayed in both these hotels 40 years ago. I also stayed at the Privacy hotel near Freddy's. Another hotel across the street from the Malaysia hotel was and still is the L.A. motel a short time hotels for Thais. The owners are my close friends for 40 years. They rented a few rooms to foreigners but stopped renting to them many years ago as the police were constantly called for disturbing the peace. The neighborhood I am sure Carl knows was infested with drugs and raids by immigration police.
A low budget backpack area, colorful to say the least
