By 1995-1996 the voice was already nasal, losing power in the middle and upper registers of the voice (The power in the chest voice she had in the Music Box era was thinned out completely and noticable as early on notes such as Ab4, Bb4, B4, C5 and as late as Db5 and E5). The raspiness started becoming a new thing for her at this time due to the inverted whispering "technique" she acquired at this point and it made her singing breathy and less cordinated with the breath in general. All in which, Music Box had and were much better (even the first tour she had in 1993 wasn't bad and showed power it's just bad that she was sick).
I'm glad she made a mistake at almost the end, thanks to that I can see she was singing live, otherwise i would have thought it was playback. So perfect wow!

Other than that there are some lipped performances in 2001 for some strange reason and since 2003 she started PARTLY lipping the song. She has a lot of completely live performances in 93 and 94, one in 95 and on all of her first 4 tours. Music box tour, daydream tour, butterfly tour and rainbow tour.
This is definitely her best performance of this song.. The only performance that's actually identical to the studio version, though she went a little off at the end but it's okay because she definitely gave her best and it sounds really amazing.. 👍👍👍🙌😊☺

I like this it feels so vintage, like watching an artist when they're very first starting. It feels like we're getting an up close and personal look, I can't describe it.

her best live singing of this song period. this is as close sounding to the studio version as one can get. you can't hardly hear any difference until towards the end. it sounds so close to the studio version that you thought she lip synced, when she actually singing it live.
i think nowadays if she just relaxes a bit more and just remember her prime techniques and remember that "she has it" she would start to sing a little better and shell get more flexibility in her voice. Shes perfection and will always be my queen though

Painful? I don't think so. Teen - 20s Mariah is literally known for the ease with which she sang her complex arrangements (& in extremely high keys). You can't hit those notes without showing some sort of expressions.
