- SIXTH TIER Darvel FC beat PREMIERSHIP Aberdeen FC in the Scottish Cup!!!!!!
This has to go down as one of the biggest cup shocks of all time. Fair play to Darvel, they've come a long way as a football club and deserve all the success they get. Jim Goodwin is under serious pressure now at Aberdeen as the sack seems imminent.

Thanks John, appreciate the kind words. The smaller clubs don't always get the coverage they deserve but I'm so happy to see that Darvel is the story of the day up and down the country. Not every day they're mentioned all over the news! Hopefully it gets them some new fans. Imagine they beat Falkirk. Quarter finals for a sixth tier team would be mad!!!

When I watched back Sam in Dundee being denied entry to Dens and Tannerdice I was thinking; if only they knew how much this lad is doing for the game in Scotland!

Depending where in TX you are from, I'm sure you could find Celtic/Rangers and likely Aberdeen supporters clubs nearby. I'm in NYC so I'm spoiled with options.

You were there Sam! Your coverage of this event (it's more than just a footy match now...) will turn out to be an important historical record.
He has a knack of picking significant matches to cover. Aberdeen are nowhere near the level of the side Alex Ferguson managed but they're a decent SPL side and on paper this should have been an easy win for them, but Darvel had other ideas.
Sam is a credit to promoting Scottish football, better than what our organisations can do.
He does this for himself. It is to earn a personal income and in reality it has little if anything to do with promoting Scottish football.
Well done! Watching Scottish football history being made is the reward for all the hard work you've put in and all the "wee teams" you've supported. I'm in my seventies and this is easily the biggest cup upset I can remember. Bigger than Berwick Rangers v Rangers, bigger than Clyde v Celtic, way bigger.

@@paulcampbell353 I'm not an old firm fan? You talk about gap in quality. Inverness were in Div 1 and only just formed... whilst Celtic had Mark Viduka playing for them at home, with a young Ian Wright on the bench. Doesn't compare to Johnny Hayes running down the wing I'm afraid.
I'm a Kiwi living in Pennsylvania and have been watching this channel for a few months now. Always great. I love non-league and the passion of the fans. What a night for Darvel, but also what a night for all non-league clubs, giving them the chance to dream that they too could achieve greatness. Would love to see Sam covering some of the amateur leagues, especially Uist & Barra or Skye & Lochalsh.

Just goes to show how high the standard of football in the West of Scotland League is. I always maintain it's a higher standard overall than the Lowland League and I'm yet to be proved wrong. Darvel is around the same size as Kirkconnel and Kelloholm where I come from (although Kello Rovers are 2 tiers below Darvel in the pyramid) so I can perfectly understand how big this result is for them. I continue to be very proud of the way you support the lower levels of Scottish football Sam. I haven't been commenting much lately, but still never miss your videos.

What a great story! Congrats for covering this. BTW what a playing surface in the middle of winter at a sixth tier team! I played regularly at Tynecastle back in the 80's and don't think I ever saw a field that good! Times are changing in many ways.

As an Irvine Valley resident, I couldn't be happier for the people of Darvel. The whole town was buzzing in the lead up to the game and so many thinking this was their chance and they took it!! Well done Darvel!! Bring on Falkirk!!

I played against Darvel a few times, even beat them 7-0 once, (to be fair lost some as well...). Dressing rooms back then were awful. Pitch was always decent. They've come a long way. Congratulations.

Aberdeen fan here and Darvel fully deserved that win, so much heart and determination. We got what we deserved, utterly embarrassing. Let’s be honest, and no disrespect intended to Darvel, when you consider the gulf in level and budget, Aberdeen should be able to send a team full of youth players and win. I am so pleased for our host - all those miles and dedication and this night was your reward to be there when the the biggest cup giant killing in the SFAC took place, in your lifetime, and then some.
I note the population of Darvel is about the same as Gretna which you covered, showing top flight football cannot be a fairy tale ending one day, sadly.
My in laws live in Darvel and over the years I’ve went to their games when I’m over for a visit.
I was at their game last May when they lost out on promotion. Obviously they were all bitterly disappointed.
As the players walked off I watched the owner turn them around and led them over to congratulate their opponents on their win and promotion.
Well done to Darvel then and congratulations to their historic win against The Dons.
