    IT IS HERE! I've been waiting patiently for this one and today was the day. I got it on the table, recorded, filmed and posted this within an hour. A new record I think for me. I have a feeling this is going to be a classic. Oh and wait until the end if you want to hear what it sounds like with some stereo reverb pushing it along.......mmmmmmm. Thanks Chase Bliss, you're awesome

    I always look forward to these. Loved that broken tape feel at 2:30. Insane to see how wildly different everyone is getting on with it so far!

      Hey man…absolutely agree. I’m currently playing it into a bunch of other pedals too…aside from reverb which we’ve both tried putting this at the start of your chain and running it into delays etc works a treat

    Loving the “first ten minutes” concept. It’s almost like a challenge to see what kind of sound you can get dialed in before the ten minutes are up

    Got mine this afternoon. Some lovely ethereal sounds from the freeze side. I felt compelled to stick a delay after it, and was rewarded. I have to figure out where I want to stick my EHX Attack Decay: before or after. But synth pads are dead easy to get out of it. I'll get to the glitchy stuff eventually, but for now I'm just focusing on beautiful. The Glitch side can get some nice arpeggios that are kind of reminiscent of what the Thermae does.

    Totally. Yeah looking forward to hearing other instruments through it. I just think the whole glitch and freeze thing has already been done. Stoked to see what’s unique about Chase bliss implementation besides their unique workflow. I would be putting it on synths and drum machines but I also already have a Qu-bit Data Bender in my modular rack that seems very similar. I’m looking forward to future vids!

    • @nickreesyt
      @nickreesyt  3 месяца назад +3

      Hey Ryan. Well firstly the pedal is designed for literally anything so no need to limit it to a guitar. Secondly, this was literally my first ten minutes playing what is a pretty deep non typical pedal so I wouldn’t worry too much about the lack of mind blowing sounds throughout. I will be sharing a lot more on it and putting together some intro tracks using it exclusively so hopefully, although I haven’t done them yet, that will show more of the practical ways you can use a pedal like this. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you jump on for the ride

      How Onward responds to the playing dynamics of a guitar is awesome. I spent days with it at Superbooth and it has a place with any instrument, but I got the most out of it through the guitar, it's stereo capabilities are phenomenal.

    • @nickreesyt
      @nickreesyt  3 месяца назад

      @@tokiboi6777 haha touché. what I mean is, if you don’t value what this pedal does for the cost then yeh it’s too expensive. but it’s like buying a volume pedal for $300. Use the volume pot. Or buying a fifth overdrive or fizz pedal. Plus we all have different amounts of disposable income to spend on these things. So personally no I don’t think it’s expensive for the huge array of stuff this pedal does of which there are loads of great pedals out there showing you that. If you want something in your rig that can take apart and reassemble Inout then this pedal does it as well if not better than anything I’ve played before.

    • @tokiboi6777

      @@nickreesyt Ok, for context: I do have a Mood Mk2, a Gen Loss Mk2, a Lossy, a Reverse C, a Microcosm, some pladask elektrisk pedals. I do enjoy the freeze side of the onward a lot, but listening through all these demos I am getting the feeling that is still quite limited and not so musical as some people would like it to be for 470.

    • @nickreesyt
      @nickreesyt  3 месяца назад

      @tokiboi6777 cool. So I traded my mood mk2 for it. I don’t regret that decision. I find it both fairly simple to understand yet really deep at the same time. if you haven’t yet I’d recommend watching mark johnstons deep dive

    Maybe you could learn how to operate the pedal and then edit a video down to show useful functions? Just a thought. The first seven minutes of your first ten minutes should have been deleted.

    • @nickreesyt
      @nickreesyt  3 месяца назад +2

      well then that wouldn’t have been the first ten minutes of me using the pedal ! But thanks for the editorial advice. More in depth video manuals will follow. Also, what we individually class as usual functions is all subjective from my experience depending on your musical tastes

    • @dougtolley
      @dougtolley 3 месяца назад +6

      Showing the exploration and learning of a pedal's functions is a valid concept and for me a part of the fun. The happy accidents and missteps are part of the process of getting to find those 'useful functions' and I like seeing those, personally.

      @nickreesyt  3 месяца назад +5

      Wow haha. Well I wouldn’t know what this pedal could or couldn’t do until I owned it so now I do. Secondly, from early inspection I’d say probably not to your assertion. thirdly whether it can or can’t isn’t really the point. I’m a musician and with a functioning pedalboard you need options at different stage of your chain for different scenarios. If I had the LVX making sounds similar to this pedal then I can’t use it for that digital delay I may be after at the same time. So sorry if you lost respect for me but I think in you’re missing the point a little

      Man I hope this negative thought brain pattern isn’t in play in other areas of your mindset, musical value isnt derived from categorizing and ranking capabilities from pedals, there will never be a consensus regarding if a certain pedal is worth it or not…. This is life 101 really, if you let shit like this get to you then man you got a tough road ahead
