I love that you said just flip the knobs and switches! I love playing around with new things trying to just figure it out without following any instructions!! This thing sounds awesome!!
Yes, I once had someone spit take a double shot of whiskey, out there mouth and nose, even choking, when I said “here’s my clean tone,” and was using a Fuzz Face, with my volume knob down, for that great clean a Fuzz Fave can get. What made him nearly choke, was when I said “it’s my clean, snd I can still do this…” as I dined my volume knob, and the Fuzz came wailing. He was not expecting that, and his eyes looked so confused. 😆 He realized what was happening immediately after, but you really brought that memory back. Thanks.
Ok so usually don’t comment on these but had to say I really appreciate the effort on the captions in this demo. Would love to see more of this where applicable. Also good demo and walk thru as always, appreciate you, keep it up.
I love this! I've been struggling with a boring clean sound for years. My CS-3 just makes it sound strained, and my Dynacomp just makes it sound flat. This pedal seems to bring clean to life in ways I can't really describe. Love it!
The Origin Effects Cali76 Stacked Edition Dual -Stage Compressor is flat-out the best compressor pedal I have ever played. I totally get compression; I've been using it in the studio on vocals and every conceivable instrument for damn near half a century, but I can clearly see that this Clean gizmo goes way, WAY beyond compression. Me want...plus, I'm hard-wired from the factory to gotta have any pedal with a "Physics" control. Great demo, Rhett! 😎
This. Got also creeping head ache coming just for thinking myself crouching over it and turning and switching and turning and switching… sounds good AF though🥲
That sag mode into the reverb is really cool- i wonder if it could co-op with sidechaining so in a mix, a percussion piece would trigger the volume swell instead of needing to strike the strings really hard- that way it could be played the same but the chord strikes could be hit a sixteenth note late to the percussion part so you get the volume swell without the strike.
Awesome pedal, and great demo! It's great to see a pedal that has a ton of vibe that can be applied in a wide musical context! I'm looking forward to seeing how this will sound on my acoustic rig!
Oh wow!!!! I'd buy it just for the Leslie effect on the EQ alone!! I had to rewind that section half-a-dozen times to listen to it over and over -- that one really hit me! All of its other stuff is just gravy on top of that! That "dusty" mode is also extremely cool! Sweet!!!
Now this is the sound I have been looking for. I have always just wanted "More" from my bass. Not distortion or fuzz. I can get that anywhere. This is really cool ! / Thanx Rhett...
I actually started writing a plugin to do this once, with the end goal of putting into a pedal. I always meant to develop it properly: applying a "dirty" volume envelope to a clean tone. Well, looks like someone with a better business sense than me actually did it! And probably better excecuted than I would have done too 🙃. The dynamic EQ aspect to compensate for lost range and give a "dynamic" feeling back when the actual signal power range is compressed is a really genius thing. This is a clever pedal, hats off!
I’m glad clean is making a comeback…even country has sounded like Led Zeppelin for the last 20 years. I miss the cleaner tones of 1950-1979…especially 65-75…the great era of tone and mixing. It’s great to see appreciation for this still alive.

I would use the hell outta this as a quickly effect for random instruments in the studio. I have a little pedal board with a delay and a couple reverbs that I use at the end of signal chains to create a “space”, I can throw this on and it’d be cool as hell

I used to play with a compressor but felt naked without it years ago. I felt like it became a crutch and wanted to be able to control the volume and response more with my playing. I feel like it also brings out more of your own signature feel without one.
I went through the same journey, I do love compression but there’s nothing like playing a gained up amp and using the volume knob and playing for different tones.
"Dusty" mode is exactly why I use the Revv Tilt Boost with the drive switch engaged all the time. This is all in all a pretty cool pedal, and it might just be the pedal that replaces my Para EQ and Origin, because it is a single box!
Yet, at $400 the statement that “…not even studio compressors can do…” doesn’t matter, because no one will use this for what those studio compressors are used for. We’ll see how “classic” it becomes. I’d love to have one, but everything in the Chase Bliss video, I can do with my board already, except the noise gate, which I never use, unless recording. Even then, I hardly ever use them. The stereo spread, and tones are no different than things I do with multiple pedals, or just with the DSM Humboldt a drive lot boost and the Blackout Effectors Whetstone, with a stereo pedal at the end of my chain, that does the same thing this pedal does. Except I can choose stereo panning, or in parallel, with ability to change how fast it pans, and even volume and depth of the right and left spread, so a Parallel mix, has more options. Again, I’d love to have one. EQ and/or volume, is all on needs to make a gain tone, like what this pedal does. Will it sound as good? Depends on what one likes, and uses to get those tones vs. this Clean pedal.
I find that once an amp is sufficiently above 6-8 (depending on amp), a lot of the nuance disappears. As the waveform sufficiently distorts, it becomes more and more like a square wave. You can’t hear things like guitar type, amp type, as much. Sure the player will feel the difference of all the rigs. But it doesn’t translate to tape. Clean, you can hear the difference between a Tele, Strat, Les Paul etc…but once you drive the crap out of the amp they all start to sound the same. I hope music goes cleaner. I also liked the starting tone, but I disagree, at least half of those settings were gorgeous.
