Wonderful vid gents. Two buddies and I floated 40 miles on that legendary river 16 years ago in mid September and we got 4 fish in the upper teens with 2 over 20lbs. Hooked 12 in 8 days. Not out of this world fishing but all the better that every single one came on a skated fly and we were self-guided , none of us had ever fished the river before! Magical place.
Nothing better than skating dries for them hey. Great river - I can't wait to get back up there sometime! Thanks for watching and leaving such a nice comment! Tight Lines!
I logged up there for years before returning home to lake superior country(the north shore Canadian side) loved the Babine the kispiox and Skenna used to stop and watch the bears fish for salmon on the Nass before heading up to camp after out long weekend off.
You are so kind - thanks for leaving such a nice comment. I love making this video as it was like a return to the Babine. Hopefully I can get back there sometime.
Bucket list river, for sure. Every steeled angler has "their" fish. Mine is in my photo. 30lb fish swung up on the Kispiox. Even though, I still would love to tackle a steelhead on the Babine.
Hey thanks for watching! I can't disagree Skeena is just a fantastic place and I cherish every minute of being there. I haven't reach your island yet but hopefully sometime! Tight lines!
Absolutely beautiful video! Literally felt like I was there! Perhaps some day;- always been my dream to fish the Babine or Kispiox, fish or no fish, just to be a part of these great rivers.
Just imagine, you are 100% right - there would have probably been 100,000s up there hey. So sad really how deleted they are now and every year less and less :(
Who is this Tom Derry of whom you speak? With all of his knowledge, can he conjure steelhead at will for the Babine novice? Surely his powers are great!
The guy lives up there on the Babine. His knowledge of where Steelhead typically lie in those stretches goes back decades. He definitely put us on fish based on his experience with the conditions at hand. Could he conjure up a fish for a novice? The guy with the rod has to be able to make the cast, mend the speed, assess the depth, feel the take, set the hook, play it and land. That's the difference and a novice and an experienced angler. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
great video and narration, but things are not well for these beautiful fish in the Skeena system.. their struggle is real and the management of the system is poor. Keep this in the forefront of your story and make others aware..
I agree with you 100%. I'm going to work soon on another Steelhead video and I was thinking about the content. You've set my mind straight now on how to work it! Thx. Tight lines....... let's hope this magnificent species pulls through and number are up next year.
Its not the management of the rivers as much as the health of the North Pacific ocean. Steelhead are in decline from California to Alaska. We need to stop pumping so many hatchery and enhanced fish into the N Pacific. The food chain is suffering.

Guided there back in the 70-80s when there were lots of fish, great river
Its a damn shame the decline in all these great rivers. We will ever see those times again.
Beautiful video and what a beauty steelhead...
Glad you enjoyed it! Steelhead are pretty much perfection on the fly!
Wonderful river & fish, but only a game for the rich

I have fished the Babine for almost 20 years. Have stayed at all 4 of the lodges on the river and loved to see the upper beats again.

I live on Vancouver Island where we have a few nice rivers but when I'm Steelhead fishing I like the big water. Skeena country is the best. Nice vid.
Hey thanks for watching! I can't disagree Skeena is just a fantastic place and I cherish every minute of being there. I haven't reach your island yet but hopefully sometime! Tight lines!
Well done.
Hi. THANKD VERY MUCH. I REALLY ENJOYED PUTTING THIS ONE TOGETHER. BROUGHT BACK SO MANY MEMORIES
I’m partial to the Dean river but that looks awesome
I've not fished the Dean yet but it's on the list!
Absolutely beautiful video! Literally felt like I was there! Perhaps some day;- always been my dream to fish the Babine or Kispiox, fish or no fish, just to be a part of these great rivers.

WOW super fish.:)
Many many thanks :)
How lucky are you, I only dream of this
I'd love to go back but it is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity for me sadly! Tight Lines wherever you fish and thanks for watching!
I go salmon fishing every year to BC and steel.
I haven't been since COVID era unfortunately but I'm hoping to go this year!
No thousand casts for these fish!
Not that day but you know how unpredictable they can be sometimes
Imagine a hundred years ago...
Just imagine, you are 100% right - there would have probably been 100,000s up there hey. So sad really how deleted they are now and every year less and less :(

What is the cost for 3 day’s fishing?
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it! Super river!!
Cheers John!
Is going to be all lost if we stop all logging
If we stop logging or don't stop logging?
