Have you bought a new tent or own a Jack Wolfskin? If so which one and what are your thoughts? Smash a like on the video if you enjoyed it, it would really help me out. Take care everyone, Si x
Looks great. The inner is pretty much the same design as my MSR Elixir 2 v2. Mine is 2.7kg but includes a footprint and a second entrance and vestibule which makes it a proper 2 man tent so the weight can be shared. Good video!
Thanks man, a few have said this is similar to the elixir 2. I had the msr nx and that was a superb tent if a little short. Appreciate you taking time to watch mate 👍🏻
Really good review Simon. I love Jack wolfskin tents good quality and well made also rather inexpensive . My first tent purchase was the gossamer 1 which is a bivi type tent which is bomb proof .
Always good to see your videos as you are the same height as me and it gives me a good idea of how good it would be good for me. Well done. I think I would prefer two entrances for that size of tent, but that's just me. Keep them coming, and looking forward to seeing you out and about.
Thanks mate, it's quite handy with the one door as with the Helm 2 2 door I filled both vestibules with crap! So I quite like it! Really appreciate the support mate. Gives me a good spur to keep it going! Si
Thanks Simon. . You really do a fine job with your reviews. I found it very helpful, and i trust you opinions. I rather fancy this tent. I can see why you bought it. Nice quality, good design, and excellent attention to detail. I like it very much. Thanks again Simon. Take care my friend. Stay safe
Good to see a new upload Simon, you've a very underrated channel. I'm 208cm which is a total pain in the backside, I've the OEX Phoxx 2 and tried out a Hilleberg Akto (Similar to the Abisko) but touch the ends/inner on both. Sadly having to save for a Hilleberg Kaitum 2 (Tunnel Tent) as it has complete vertical inner walls, heavy though at just over 3kg not to mention expensive but it will handle most conditions. Recently had the opportunity to try out my DD Frontline XL Hammock, what a game changer..slept better in it than my bed at home.
Thanks so much mate, great motivation for me to continue the channel for a bit longer! Must get out in my hammock and great that you slept well. I feel like there's a market being missed for us tall folk. The Kaitum looks like it will do the trick for you. Did we already discuss the Unna? It's a bit longer than most Hillebergs, 230cm inner I think. Have a good day mate, Si
There are so many tents of this design around now. I just bought a Sierra Designs Meteor 3000, it's very much like this, same size, weight etc. I paid £190 for it new, which was a good price but I'm still not sure of it yet. They're not that quick to put up, they're inner pitch first, have a large footprint, they're heavy and have a large pack. They are lovely and spacious though, not sure how they'll fair in the wind. Thanks
Love Jack Wolfskin products too. We’ve have a big Tundra 2 and it’s awesome. Nice review Simon, the clipping up of the inner and the support pole over the top to lift the roof is same as my MSR Elixir (which I love too!)
The Tarp Tent Double Rainbow is a respectable mid-priced option ($300 USD) coming in at ~1.2 kg and measuring 224 cm x 127 cm with interior height of 107 cm. Also, available in a lighter DCF version that is ~0.81 kg. Thanks for sharing the helpful videos.
Just got myself a Vango F10 MTN 2 to try out and my 6'6" frame fits easily. Was expecting to be touching both ends as the length is officially 2.10m, but I measured it as 225cm, which explains the spaciousness. Heavier at 3.4kg, but a proper 4 season geodesic design. The first 2 man tent I would consider sharing.
Nice one mate, I just had a quick look and it looks like an awesome tent. I can see myself getting a geodesic at some point. Lots of space inside on this one! Si
Great video Simon! I really so like this tent seems like loads of room and it looks sturdy too. Hows it been in the wind so far? Looks like it would be decent 👌🏻 Really like the idea of the compartment that can hang on the inner roof for storage. Really cool 😎 Cheers for an awesome informative video mate 👍🏻 ATB... Chris
Cheers Chris, I've had it out twice and neither times were particularly windy. Will keep you posted! Thanks for watching bud, see your channel is doing great on the subs and views, Si
@@SimonOutdoors Cool yeah get some footage if you're ever on a windy camp with it 😁 Ahh thanks 😊 yeah seems to be doing a little better lately so hopefully im doing something right lol 👍🏻
Nice one mate, the only thing that would maybe improve this tent. It's quite nice having just one to be honest! Less messy vestibules! Thanks for watching, Si
This tent is very strong and stay 100 % dry in every weather and wind conditions. Only bad side is that it is heavier. I have had this tent in very hard winds and rain and no problems.
@@SimonOutdoors I mean Jack Wolfskin skyrocket II. I have been with that tent in Finland Lapland very hard wind and rain and no problems at all. No even condensation. It breaths so well.
Thanks for another great video Simon, it seems this tent has everything going for it except the weight, but if it's a pleasure to be in, then maybe it's worth the carry, especially if you're holed up in bad weather for hours. I'm over six foot, so I would appreciate the length also.
Nice one Ken, it's really huge inside. I don't mind carrying a bit more wight for a single nighter, it's good exercise! Which tent are you currently using? Si
@@SimonOutdoors Thanks for the reply Simon, currently I'm just an occasional hill walker, but looking forward to getting a tent for me and my german shepherd dog.
Haha Freya! It was only for a short amount of time! It's quite nice having one door as I tend to fill both vestibules with crap! Thanks for watching, Si
Ive got the old helm 2 why change perfection. I'm thinking about walking coast to coast so would like a one man a bit lighter, thinking about MSR hubba. What are your thoughts on yours? Do you still use it?
Hi Matt, I prefer this over the helm 2. I think the Helm 2 had a lot of good press, but mostly from a couple of channels on You Tube. MSR Hubba is an awesome tent. I sold mine to Ash (Ash Outdoors) as it wasn't quite long enough. Good luck with the walk mate, any thoughts when you would do it?
@@SimonOutdoors cheers for info, think i will get the hubba. Thinking early next year, late April / May weather dependent. Think i will rerun your coast to coast videos.
I used a Wolfskin tent for years. I worked in Germany on a festival, so I nearly lived in it and had to build it up everey week. Never had Problems with that. You can settle up the tent very fast. And if it really rains THAT heavy you can just throw the outside tent over first.
