Damian! Let me start by saying I enjoy watching your work and the pride and passion your have for your craft. Im from the US but live in the Caribbean going to school out here. I started my loc journey just this January. I’m not having any issues with dryness or anything like that, but what concerns me is my mother commented, after I sent her a picture of my locs, that she thinks my edges are thinning. Mind you my hair is already relatively fine and straight. Any tips for edge control and to help fortify then while on this journey?

Omg, that was an almost disaster, I was taken to the wrong airport......like, REALLY??!!!! Anyway, you mentioned that you would be coming to my area once a month but, we didnt get a chance to discuss that schedule. Hi Damian my granddaughter who is 10 and I just started our locs. She is 6 weeks in I am 2 1/2 weeks in. The stylist gave her the two strand twist She said because of her curl pattern and I got coils. She had her first retwist at 3 weeks. The stylist said wait 4 but she was in a special program. The stylist gave her a mild shampoo then perceed with Palm rolling. When she finished it still looked the same as when she came in. My grande curl pattern is a distinctive S pattern in the back and a looser pattern in the back. She wanted the locs but because of the frizziness and being teasrd she wants them out. The only thing we use on our hair is an oil mixture of evoo coconut oil vitamin e oil tea tree oil and castor oil. We live in SC can you help us
Vanessa Speights I hope she didn’t comb them out. The frizzies will clean up as they mature, the lady shouldn’t have palm rolled but just twisted to keep them looking kept, unless she has long hair
Im in at 8 months loced, but my hair keeps unraveling on the top of my head. I just shampoo 1 x per month, not sure if i should condition because my hair keeps loosening anyways. Also, is your scalp supposed to itch alot, like i said my hair gets washed, but it itches more when its clean.

I currently have two strand twists have had a retwist done about one week ago. I have thin fine hair. I know you do the coils will my hair ever lock doing the two strand twist and long should wait to wash my hair?
My hair stylists told me to wait a longtime before I washed my starter locs but my scalp was killing me so I washed them after only having them in for two weeks. I was scared as heck to wash my locs by myself for the first time but I’m glad I did because my hair started to bud immediately after I did that. Plus, my scalp and hair was so nice and clean. If you’re worried about your locs unraveling you can part your hair in sections and tie a screnchy to the ends of your locs. Or, you can wash your hair wearing a stocking cap (a.k.a wig cap) while washing your hair.

Sarnaria good hair products, deep conditioner, trim and keep your hands out of it natural or relaxed. If relaxed try roller sets only, and wash every one or two weeks.
I’m only 1 week in and I think this the ugly phase. I have many unraveling and some puffing up while others are still slim 🤦🏾♀️
