Thank you means a lot. I just love being out on the water and if i can share my experiences with others even better. The orme is a very daunting place gives you strange feelings lol. I've never paddled around it in winter, so i am looking forward for that. But i have some river stuff and parts of Anglesey i want to do, parts I've not been before.Keep safe.
Great video. I've been seeing a lot of seal disturbance on the Great Orme recently and when I first saw this video I expected you to be harassing the seals like I've seen other people in kayaks do. It was a pleasant surprise to discover you didn't bother them and let them come to you. It must be such a lovely experience. I only get to watch them from land.
Hi Jenni..Thank you for your comment, it means a lot when someone takes notice and observes my approach.....As you will no seals are stunning, mystical, and very curious, but can be very unpredictable...I always approach a colony with distance and have a slow drift towards to assess the mood of the seals, and then correct my distance accordingly..There is no reason in my eyes to get up in there space as seals been curious as they are, will always approach you and play i.e. rub there faces on your boat rub them selfs under your boat smell your boat and try climb on your boat..Its a fantastic and moving experience to have. all on there terms..A lot do not realise what a nasty bite seals can give so you have to be on your guard with them, and watch there moods and don't visit seals in breeding season..I have only seen a handful of kayakers approach seals with stupidity normally new kayakers who don't even wear safety vests or carry a first aid kit, or a VHF radio, and i agree it boils my piss as well..I also think powered crafts should keep a certain distance from the orme as well....Keep safe and again thank you Justin
Thx for the comment brother...Seals can be aggressive if felt threatened same as anything really..I don't go when its breeding session, and if you notice i never go direct in there space.I always hold back first wait for them come to me then drift in..Seals are very inquisitive and just love to play chase.
What a wonderful video, I truly enjoyed it
Thank you for your comment it was a great day, and i am glad you enjoyed the experience.
