In addition, one rear door lock of the Fabia is unreliable and sometimes will not unlock. I found that giving the door a 'thump' (rubber mallet) near the lock while operating the central locking fob, eventually results in the door unlocking. I have a new lock coming tomorrow for that door.

I had the typical microswitch problem on a 2007 Fabia: no headlight warning, no interior lights, boot wouldn't open until rear door opened first. Turned out the microswitch was ok but the cam that operates it has a thin plastic skin over it. The microswitch 'pip' had warn a 1mm groove in the plastic cam surface and the switch no longer functioned when the door opened. New door lock required.

Same door on my mk4 Golf. Very rarely used but sometimes the door doesn't latch and just swings open . Have to check it before I drive off . Eventually it will work but it can take ages before it does and sometimes it doesn't and I've had to tie it up inside. . . . Micro switch possibly ?

Does the vehicle self diagnostic pick up the fault.

What if the driver door randomly gets detected as open while driving (interior lights turn on and dashboard indicator lights up + beep) ? Could that also be related to the microswitch ? It started happening daily lately.

You can check also the comfort module.

@@Servicetutorials what would you be checking there? Or are you saying to merely replace the comfort module and see if the issue is resolved?

@@Infiniti25 yes, you can try replacing the comfort module.

just had my door lock replaced because I was having a door open warning light all the time as well as the door not unlocking. It now unlocks perfectly but the door open warning issue still exists....very annoying.

I have a Golf MK7. When the rear right door opens, all doors lock, even if the car is running, so if I stop, get out and close the front door to get something from the back, I'm then locked out of the car with the key in the ignition. Is this a sign of a faulty sensor on the rear door? It only happens when that door opens. Thanks

My car doesnt lock by The buton on The key and if i lock The car by putting the key în the door lock only The drivers door locks, i think this îs the switch too, right? Btw the light on my door îs always open even if i shut The door close.

Hello! You can start with checking the drivers door switch.

@@Servicetutorials does the mk4 golf door lock has the option to lock the doors and windows with the key from.outside ??? Not with centraë locking bit with key turning it on the right, of course??? Do you know and can tell me about this.
Or this is option only for the newest models of golf4?? Can you give the answer please

Is it just me... just like when I call for help to fix a computer problem, I can't friggin understand what is being said due to the accent and they speak way too fast... sheesh

I think it's just you. Sure, compared to a west-coast US resident like myself, he has an accent. I could understand every word though.

You're switching your frustration with your computer problem over to the person that's trying to help you . Calm down and ask them to speak slower. You're right ,as they spend every day doing exactly the same thing so they just rattle it off. Just remind them you don't.
