Reminds me of the trip I did several years ago -- 2 weeks from Pukaskwa Park to the mouth of the Michipicoten (sp?) River. Very similar terrain, of course. We had several days of calm weather but a few not so calm. I was paddling a Krueger Sea Wind solo decked canoe. Not sure I'd like to attempt it in an open canoe. Thanks for sharing and bringing back the memories!

Hello nibimocs, Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it. That trip you did sounds exciting...a very scenic area, and two weeks on the water would suite me just fine!

I was just reading your trip report from that trip. Great reading. And of course the last interaction with Herb Pohl was very....I don't even a word for it. Ominous maybe, like you saw him paddle into the after life.
Nice Superior video as well, I always enjoy the documentary style of your vids.

Wonderful video Wayne. Brings back a lot of memories. Some terrifying, like the huge swells on the Great Lakes, and some great ones like catching my first rainbow with my Dad right from where you were standing at the mouth of the Sand River.
I see fatherhood pays dividends when you need someone to retrieve the car. I might have to have kids after all...
Does the weather radio work when you're in a remote location or more so around marine environments?
Great touch on the Lightfoot reference at the end.

Hello Backcountry Angling Ontario, Thank you for watching. Those weather radios are great - when the reception is good. They broadcast on the FM frequency, so proximity to a transmitter tower makes a big difference. We've had instances where we don't get a signal at all in some remote areas.

The ship featured at the start of the trip is the Kiyi, a fisheries research vessel based in Ashland, Wisconsin (I spent a day on the boat). The name of the boat was pronounced Keye-Eye (like "goodbye"), not key-Eee, as heard in the video. The boat often goes clockwise around Lake Superior setting and lifting nets as part of fisheries research for all of Lake Superior.

Hello J Cooper. Thanks for watching, and thanks for the clarification on the name. My research turned up a different pronunciation, but it's always great to hear the facts from someone who has first hand knowledge. Thanks again.
