In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.

Who knew that a task about retrieving pineapples with a magnet would turn into a debate about semantics and semiotics?
It's Frankie Boyle, he always has some ontology in his back pocket.
Series 15 pitted a linguist, a lawyer, a philosopher, a writer, and Kiell Smith-Bynoe against each other.
This group was probably one of the only groups to usurp Greg. You only see this type of collectivism from international shows. It's an underrated series, especially since series 16 comes right after.
Frankie's "'Cause of the nature of language, man!" slays me every time

Gotta love Kiell arguing heavily despite the fact Mae had more than everyone except Ivo even without the drawn pineapples. Those who have watched Champion of Champions III will know that he still stands by it.

Still one of the best series where they’re throwing each other under the bus 😂😂
Throwing each other under, but also sticking up for them. Frankie was absolutely ready to go to bat before Mae even said anything. I'm also thinking of the barge task where I believe Jenny supported someone because they went after her when she crashed the boat, so they shouldn't be penalized for their time.
I love the petty seasons. Series 13 is another good example

This is why I love this, the original version of the show. It often promotes creative solutions and thinking outside of the box rather than just blindly following the rules “as intended”. 🍍🍍🍍

Yeah, Frankie's position in the earlier task help Mae a lot. They were thinking outside of the box and I loved their terrible pineapple drawings.
I don't even think they really needed to defend it, as Greg pointed out, there were several effigies that weren't pineapples that already counted as pineapples, all Mae did was make some more.

Technically the "don't get wet" rule only applies after beginning the task, which occurs after reading the note.
Frankie is my favourite taskmaster contestant of all time. Such a wild mind.
Frankie amuses me greatly because he has 0 loyalty whatsoever. Once he establishes his stance he will argue it to the utmost chaos regardless of who suffers or thrives from his efforts lol
The better argument against Mae’s drawing is not that drawn pineapples aren’t pineapples, but that a single sheet of paper set flat on the ground can’t be considered “piled.” Those pineapples were two-dimensional - not “piled on the path”!
I would have loved to hear that point presented in the studio! Very strong argument behind it!

The group worked so well together that it over shadows the contestants of season 16 (a bit) and season 17 (far more so).
I quite like season 17's contestants myself but "teamwork" is certainly not in their chosen skillset lol
Ivo was, again, robbed of points. He was a good contestant, deserved a higher place in the end
Greg allowing the pineapple drawings is even more irksome when you consider that if Kiell had done it Greg would've immediately said no, those don't count.

The task specifically says: "Pile THE pineapples on the path"
As in THE pineapples left out for the contestants to retrieve, both the ones on the float and the ones hidden around the corner.
Mae creates new pineapples, that, to me, do not fall under "THE pineapples" previously established and therefore these hitherto non-existent pineapples should not count.
If we're being really pedantic about wording, none of them also piled the pineapples. A pile by definition is things on top of each other and no one did that.

First time round I didn’t really care much for this series - but on reflection I have to say it is actually a good one
Same for me. I didn’t find it engaging on its release, but rewatching it in full somehow made this series funny to me.
I've only managed to get to see two full series and this was one of them - just can't access them from Australia. Maybe I should try and understand VPN technology!

I agree. I miss the in-studio reactions from the earlier series' of TMUK. Watching Tim Key and Romesh Ranganathan piss themselves at tasks is glorious. I'm glad they still have them in TMNZ!
@@VonBlade I'm fairly certain they mean reactions from the contestants when they're watching each others' VTs. Take a look at TMUK series 1. I think it adds something to it. :)

I'm fine with the drawn pineapples being counted, but I feel that since they were all drawn on only one page they shouldn't count as separate pineapples but as only one.

Drawings shouldn't be allowed, though- regardless of the arguments for/against it (which I'm not clever enough to even understand)- it sets an impossible precedent for future tasks.

The instructions were to "pile the pineapples" not "pile pineapples".
but we have already established that 'the pineapples' did not exclude any pineapples that weren't immediately in view. As such all contestants were free to pile up as many pineapples as they could find or create.

If the golden pineapple is a pineapple, then a drawing of a pineapple also absolutely is. However, you could argue that her drawings weren’t “the pineapples”, as the specific ones were referred to in the task, not “some pineapples”
