In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

I think it was because of Ed because David won. That, and instead of saving the winner for last, they saved the funniest/flashiest.
Ed just assumed being grouped with David was a bad sign.
It did take me a minute or season to figure out that the last person(s) to be shown would either be hysterical or shit the bed, and I wait for it🖤

the image of Rose's legs sticking out of a rock is an all time favorite of mine.
It's not saying much, but this is probably David's finest moment on the show.
The Talksport line made me chuckle.
The exchange about Ed's attempt always has me dying
- Spy Ed. You got hold of a decoy.

- You sent him to interact with Alex 👉.
* Alex's face changes *
- So far so good. At that point you then~ *thundered* across an open field.
* Alex begins laughing *

Love how during Rose’s VT you can hear Ed cracking up 😂
Perhaps not a coincidence that the two highest placed contestants are the two who can remember the actual Cold War era.
The exact second Rose appeared as a rock, I fell in love with her. Such fun!

My brain went to something that sounded spy-codeword-like, yet also somewhat normal and complete in 5 words: "Tell your mother You're sad".
David did the most direct talking to Alex.

well the stone was pretty close to being a Metal Gear reference.... and in fact there is a study about AI failing at realizing that is a person.... so fairly spy like!

You know, sometimes when I see these tasks, I feel like I had a stroke or something. I genuinely don't recall this task from series 9. I watched all (I thought) of the series.

(It was the episode David won, so it somewhat explains why he won this task)
The way I would have done it: Sit next to Alex while pretending to talk to someone on my phone, every so often I'd shout a word much louder than the other words, those would be the five words in my instruction.

... Deadass had the same idea, except I would play the exasperated/fed up worker on the phone to the boss, proclaiming that I'd given a new worker a very simple task that could be summed into five simple words, and vented the whole while.

Ah yes, one of only two filmed tasks that David won (the other being the Mount Rushmore one). And even then he arguably should have been disqualified for visibly and audibly communicating with Alex, but... the ol' Baddiel pity point(s)
On the list at 0:14 note that “dress self” comes after both “shower Greg” and “dress Greg” 😂

The zoomed in one is at like 14.5 seconds, changed from 15 to 14 as you’re right that putting 15 takes you a few frames too far
eye spy a silly task
"you must not be seen or heard communicating with Alex in any way". Meanwhile 2 people did and weren't disqualified, one even won 5 points.
This task was surprisingly open-ended. Personally I would have liked a little more specificity, like whether you are hiding from a direction, or they know what you look like, or they're suspicious of Alex. Or like Greg decided, only obscure the message. But admittedly that's just me preferring a challenge setting and not necessarily the best set up for comedy.
I don't think putting your message on the back of your vehicle is very sneaky at all.

Badly-worded task then, because clearly the spirit intended was that it was the message which must not be seen or heard communicated.
@@fredh1720 No, clearly it was not that. Greg is just a sloppy judge and decided that seeing and hearing them communicate in disguise didn’t count. But he didn’t even apply that properly as he himself pointed out that David’s voice was not in any way disguised.
‘You’ must not be seen. David wasn’t seen communicating with Alex. He got an inconspicuous van man to do it!

I've read a lot of books by Alistair McLean and Andy McNab, and have concluded that if anybody ever hires me as a spy, the mission will fail spectacularly

I don't think David deserved the 5 points, you could read what Alex had to do from very far away 😅 The acting was bad and it wasn't funny either... Jo's was definitely the best attempt, the newspaper the second one
