Found you in search because of the new Mac OS Catalina update - trying to figure out if I really need to purchase Microsoft or if Numbers will be sufficient and I have lots of basic how-to and "where do I find that button"-type questions. I also want to know if I have a spreadsheet with a lot of columns, if it's possible - how to move all of the right-column Table/Cell/Text/Arrange functions to the top like it is in Excel. I can spend forever Googl'ing each one, or spend 10 or even 20 minutes watching a video. I haven't checked your video list yet, but if you don't have a "basics" video, now might be a good time to put one together. I'd bet you'll get a ton of views!!

I need a tutorial on double checking the storage of my Mac. iPads and iPhones to my time capsule 802.11n 2 to wifi-hard drive. I can't seem to find the information on the Apple site or RUclips. I have over 33,000 photos on my MacBook Pro. I haven't deleted them because I want to verify that they are safe in the time capsule. I also have iCloud.
Irene Cortez just did that tonight. You’re Time Capsule should show up in the “Finder” on the left side. You can get into it there and verify any backup up files.
I wish you would dig deep in formula. my question is how to do more complex calculations in formula like for example tell numbers to add 2 numbers to the cell above; i.e the first cell is 8 am, below it is 10 am, below it is 12 am and so on.
I’ve been using Excel in Office for Mac 2008 very successfully for years but now that Microsoft are no longer updating Office for Mac and Apple are moving to 64bit which won’t support Office 2008 I’m having problems. I am the only Mac user in my office and everyone else uses Excel. I notice that I can open Excel spreadsheets without any problems in Numbers but my colleagues cannot successfully open Numbers in Excel.
There shouldn't be an issue with them opening it on their end because when you send it to them it gives you the option of converting it to excel as you send it to them.

yes you can. when you send it over to the other person it asks you what format you would like to send it in, and you can choose to send it in excel format.

BJM Graphics First highlight the cell. On the right on the screen choose “Cell”. Under “Cell” you will see “Data Format”. Use the drop down list to choose “Percentage”. Below that you will see “Decimals”. You can set how many digits from there.
Hello David, I am more used to MS Office products and struggling a bit with some of the more basic functions in Numbers that was not covered in your video and can not find out from the Numbers help screen or by trial and error as to how I save a numbers spread sheet to my iPad documents folder. Mark E, I have tried numerous times to access MS Windows 360 with my iCloud account but windows 360 (?) won’t recognise my password even after calling the Microsoft help desk, it also took 4 months of having to pay for a service that I could not access before I could cancel the subscription. I was hoping David A. Cox could show us how to freeze screens and some of the more basic functions that I use in excel but can’t find in Numbers.
@@warwickjarvis I hate MS. I have had the same issues with the 360 account. The only reason I still use MS is one program I use for work is Windows only. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't own a PC. If you are having problems with the MS cloud storage try Google Drive or Dropbox. I use multiple platforms, but for Numbers, Keynote, and Pages I use iCloud Drive....... Im not sure what you mean "freeze screen" I would have to read up on that. David does a good job teaching but another great resource for learning Numbers in macmostvideo. Gary is excellent

Can one sort data by colors in Number as you can with Excel? I transferred an Excel program to a new Mini M1. In Excel I could sort by colors. For example my sheet has over 1600 rows and 7 columns, as I find errors and correct them I highlight that entery with a color, then resort making sure the data is in the correct place. I cannot seem to find a way to do this with Mac Number, can you help?

I know I could change the values of the data set to be negative but I don't want that to be the values presented on the graph. Thanks for a great tutorial David! Well, I really want to know about the 'Poster Frame' option in Keynote. This is a feature which I had been using for long in Keynote'09 but sadly, it does not work in the latest version even though it has the option. When a video clip is placed inside Keynote, at the top right hand corner click on the 'QuickTime Player' icon and below you can find the 'Poster Frame' slider. After moving the slider control to a desired frame and rendering the video, the poster frame effect does not show. However, in Keynote'09 version it still works. Trust you would be able to help in this issue. Thank you!
Why can you not right-click on a cell in Numbers and just add a hyperlink to a file on your hard disk, just like you can do in Excel?? In Excel (even in a very old 2011 version..) I can just right click on a cell, and add a hyperlink to a file anywhere on my disk (and if it's a video, for example, the video files is opened with VLC player which is the default player I have selected to open videos. Simple.). Is it possible that in the year 2020 Numbers is still so far behind Excel?? Or is this function "hidden" somewhere Numbers and I just can't find it??
Under the personal section in numbers there is a calendar. How do you change the month and year, and get the dates to auto-populate, so that the first falls on the correct day?
I have Excel documents that won't save, Numbers says the file is damaged. To save a document I'll save it as a duplicate. I tried the Format placeholder and that didn't work. Any suggestions?
Numbers help! What am I missing, like EXCEL, I continue to expect Apple Numbers to have a way to easily CENTER vertically/horizontally or both, a spreadsheet for printing. Great tutorial. I have a table with five columns. My last column is amount. After I enter the amount if I press return it creates a new row but goes to the cell below if I press tab it creates a new column. Is there a shortcut to advance to the first column in the new row or do I always have to use my mouse?

When I use "Add Row Below" to place another row below the first row. The calculations will not be duplicated and some fields are missing. I need to copy and paste the missing fields manually in Numbers 6.0. This is annoying. I open a numbers document. I make changes. I close the document, but I DO NOT want the document to be saved automatically by closing the document. I want to DISCARD the changes I have made on the document. HOW DO I DO THAT? 😎

I have Excel documents that won't save, Numbers says the file is damaged. To save a document I'll save it as a duplicate. I tried the Format placeholder and that didn't work. Any suggestions?
Numbers help! What am I missing, like EXCEL, I continue to expect Apple Numbers to have a way to easily CENTER vertically/horizontally or both, a spreadsheet for printing. I am shocked frankly that apple does not have this feature! A table does not even "snap" to center guides when I place them in the numbers document. Please tell me I missing something. THANK YOU

I am trying to save all my photos/videos on google drive on my LG stylo 4 but it wont let me due to google drive storage full. Great tutorial. I have a table with five columns. My last column is amount. After I enter the amount if I press return it creates a new row but goes to the cell below if I press tab it creates a new column. Is there a shortcut to advance to the first column in the new row or do I always have to use my mouse?

Vito Caressa that would be in the “Format” menu, then “Currency”. First click on the cell or highlight multiple cells and then format them to the currency you want

I have been trying to learn a lot from your videos. and was looking for how to protect the formulas and locking them up so that nobody could se and more over when we delete (backspace) the formulas gets delete automatically. it will be a great help

When I use "Add Row Below" to place another row below the first row. The calculations will not be duplicated and some fields are missing. I need to copy and paste the missing fields manually in Numbers 6.0. This is annoying.
I open a numbers document. I make changes. I close the document, but I DO NOT want the document to be saved automatically by closing the document. I want to DISCARD the changes I have made on the document. HOW DO I DO THAT? 😎
