I was laughing throughout the whole movie and the score/soundtrack were phenomenal! Such a fun movie that surprisingly took great care in Easter eggs and game references. I love that it didn’t take itself too seriously and was just a good time.
I love when bowser and kamek are role playing bowser and peach getting together with kamek dressed as peach, definite nod to New Super Mario Bros Wii where there big twist after the first fight is instead of peach being in the cage is kamek wearing a peach outfit, if only they somehow included Luigi disguised as peach
I love seeing the Yoshi egg at the end of the super Mario bros movie. I knew my boy was going to be in the movie. My theory is that Mario and Luigi along with Peach, Donkey Kong and Toad come back to Brooklyn to receive an award for saving everyone from Bowser. Which would be great to see. Then all of the sudden, there’s a report that there’s an animal causing trouble in the pipes. Mario, Luigi and their friends go to investigate and find Yoshi. Then Luigi having the same color as Yoshi is mistaken by Yoshi to be his mama. Luigi decides to keep Yoshi raise him as his son and when he gets older he helps Mario, Luigi and the others save the mushroom kingdom from a dangerous threat. This theory has a lot of potential and I hope it happens.
I just got back from watching this movie and it was fantastic. You can tell everybody who was involved with this movie loves what they do. Especially Jack Black as Bowser. I went with my husband and my three-year-old neither of them have ever seen anything with Mario or played the games so I had to explain some stuff but they had a great time.
One reference I loved to see which wasn’t a Mario reference, during the Mario Bros job while visiting the house, you can see glass statues of the little Pikmin from the game series of the same name
I remember as a kid playing all these mario games I should’ve saved them and if I would’ve had them till this day it would’ve been awesome would’ve had my own collection
You missed that in Mario room there's also a poster for F-Zero's Blue Falcon, which is also awesome considering how Nintendo abandoned the franchise long ago

I never knew that nintendo would do a movie of mario but when I saw the movie mario & luigi really killed this film, and nintendo really did a great job and what really blow my mind was luigi got taken my bowser and bowser did really force princess peach to marry him but princess peach, didn’t like him and mario ended up saving his brother at the end of the movie. (And I’m still wondering how the blue star got caged up justed an edit btw😂)
For the smash melee fans, there are 2 references i saw. Stampede of Yoshis in the background like the intro to smash melee and the big bullet bill hitting the top of the castle like it does as a stage hazard in the mushroom kingdom stage of smash melee.
Might be a stretch, but when Mario and toads karts got destroyed and they had to get on the back of peach and dk’s karts, i was thinking “double dash” the whole time
I noticed there wasn’t any green 1-up mushroom, I think, which if taken would probably imply reincarnation in that Mario universe. Also, I wondered how long Bowser could stay minimized because if he hurt himself badly enough, would not the mushroom effect be canceled much like power-ups were otherwise lost throughout the movie? Unless it’d have to be by a force substantial enough to injure the regular size character.
There has been no verification that this was, indeed, the super show's princess Toadstool. Some people just thought she sounded like her and the rest of the internet latched onto it. Her name is not in the credits. 🤦
