Great review, the video comparisons with the default are excellent. I have Bijan's four seasons mod and can see from your video that Rex AccuSeason has a much slicker user interface, but much less functionality. I've lived in the UK my entire life, 47 years, and never have I come across a region where all the trees turn blood orange during the autumn. Our seasons are both much more muted, and have much more individual tree variety. Bijan's seasons mod captures this much better with green, coppery orange, yellow, red and brown autumnual trees, rather a global uniform homogenous colour change. Bijan also has tens of thousands of hand placed 3D trees, including iconic trees around the world, and winter trees without leaves hand placed around major airports etc. He also removes all photogrammetry trees from Asobo's PG cities and removes unwanted trees sprouting from airports. He does also have an experimental terrain mask feature that alters the ground textures, making them look browner or greyer, depending on the autumn or winter season that helps give the season a more atmospheric look. This isn't perfect yet, and requires some user experimentation, but in regions where it works well, it can really add to the atmosphere. Finally, Bijan is the most responsive dev in the business, uptating his add on every week, responding directly to user feedback, and often fixing user problems in just a few hours. There is a reason he has an almost cult following of fans, his passion and commitment to his product really comes across. I've not tried Rex Seasons, but the UI is slick, and the dynanmic presets and the ease to set them up will likely appeal to a lot of people who just want to set and forget. I could see this being well received on Xbox, and with those PC users who don't have over 100 files in their community folder and who actually enjoy spending a few minutes dragging files in and out before every flight. It's basically ease of setup/simplicity versus feature set. I'll stick with Bijan's seasons, but I hope this add on does well too as seasons are such a vital factor in making the sim feel alive and this add on will add far more immersion than the base game for a lot of people.
Nice review and congrats on 10K! I have Bijan's Seasons. He does have a number of great features that Rex doesn't have and he is very responsive to feedback and updates regularly, like once a week-ish. However, everything is manual - you have to move folders in and out of the community folder and make sure you only have one season installed. Of course, anyone using add-ons has to deal with doing that so they should know how to do it. I would like Bijan to add an app like Rex has not only to make installation easier but to showcase his features.
Thanks for the review. For £16 I took the plunge and glad I did. I personally think it looks good, and adds that extra bit of realism to the sim without going overboard. Overall, very pleased.
My pleasure PlamoMan! Glad you’re happy with it. It’s not a game-changing addon, but certainly an improvement to the sim as you say. I’m pretty happy with it too. All the best! : )
Cheers Ra! Yeah, native seasons would certainly be a nice addition to the sim; although having summer and winter options has generally been enough to “get by” with (for me personally) I think. It’ll be great if we get proper seasons in 2022 though. The more native improvements we can see to the sim, the better! Cheers : )
Congratulations on 10K, you fully deserve it. I always look forward to a review from you, i feel like you put a lot of effort in to it. We appreciate you👍
Thanks very much Menacegtr! Really glad you’re enjoying the reviews. Indeed, I try my best to bring you guys high quality content, but I wouldn’t enjoy RUclips if I did things any other way. Really happy yourself and indeed a few others, are enjoying the channel thus far. Means a lot! All the best : )
10,000 SUBS! Congratulations! Edit: Now that I've finished the vid, lol. This looks really nice in places, and is tempting. Having never been to the UK, though, are there really vast stretches where all the trees in autumn are so uniformly red colored like that? That would be my biggest complaint is that the autumn colors are too monochromatic in a lot of places. The US looked nice, Sweden OK, but again basically monochrome orange, but the UK in the post side-by-side section looked almost like it was taken on infrared film.
Haha, thanks very much John! In the shots with the Waco, I was actually using one of the presets and I specifically went for the most “eye catching” one I could find - so yes, I would agree that everything was rather too orange and no, you wouldn’t really see that in the UK. For the rest of the footage I was using the Auto mode and indeed the results were rather mixed. What I’ve actually found since, is that it’s better to simply choose a preset that suits your needs on the day. This works much better, though does rather negate one of the major advantages of Accuseason over the Bijan mod. . . Hopefully REX can tweak their formula a bit for the Auto mode. Sorry for the slow reply, the festive period got the better of me haha. Hope you had a great Christmas, all the best! : )
Seems to be missing the deep red maples and pure yellows. The trees here in Michigan don't change all the same color. From the air you should see more than all trees being a uniform orange. They are mixed up in the midwest and northeast. You can have deep red maple right next to a green leafed oak next to a yellow elm.
Just grabbed this, early days but using dec default Rex settings the blend between trees (200) and distant textures are reminiscent of early “pre visual nerf” MSFS. Blends exceptionally well for that old “vast” effect MSFS used to do well. Early days tho.
Hi Point Man, That’s true. Things do blend a little better and it does bring back some of the qualities that the sim had in its earlier days. Overall Accuseason has its strengths and weaknesses, but I find generally it does more good than harm. Hope you’re still getting on ok with it. All the best! : )
Too be honest I prefer Bijan's Seasons it's a little more chew in moving folders and such but no big deal and it looks better I think. But that's just my opinion. Oh and well done for the 10k fella!
More than fair enough and that does seem to be the general consensus actually. I’m hoping to jump on the Bijan-gang train and take a look myself at some point haha. Thanks very much! A nice little milestone to reach. Appreciate the support! : )
I have all bijanstudio products and look much superior with palm trees tropical areas that you failed to show what’s very important for like Bora Bora. Sint Martin and Hawaii where I fly a lot. But the interface of Rex looks very good. There should be a comparison video between these two seasons solutions.
Bijan's is by far the superior addon, and now with matching ground masks and Hawaii blew my eyes out of my head in the video showcase, I really hope Bijan can include an auto feature for real time season simulation at some point. Decisions, decisions hmmm.
Ooo, I’ll have to check that video out then. I’m definitely keen to give the Bijan mod a go as well. The lack of UI doesn’t really bother me, but it would certainly benefit him to add one I’m sure. Cheers!
Ahh ok, that’s interesting Andreas, I was wondering about the lack of snow haha (I had just assumed that was Live Weather being dodgy again). I figured the leaves should be gone, given that they are in the UK also, but it’s always better to check with someone in the know! ; ) Thanks, all the best! : )
Thanks for the review - I saw this released yesterday and to be honest I was waiting for your review and opinion on it before I purchased it. I must admit I do have reservations about it and with other certain addons coming to the sim very soon, I think I’ll keep hold of my money until then! Also hoping that asobo implement seasons too in the new year! Congratulations on the 10K subs, its very well deserved!
My pleasure Rob! I’m glad the review was helpful in you making your decision, that’s the aim of the game after all. As you say, hopefully we’ll have seasons at some point in the new year anyway. Thanks very much! Glad yourself and quite a few others are enjoying the channel! : )
Excellent review and was waiting on a review to make a decision on whether to buy or not. I am on the fence to be honest and seriously thinking the Bijan product. Decisions, decisions lol. Thanks again for another quality review. Also, congrats on 10K - onto a 100k now :-)
Thanks again James. Sorry it didn’t quite help to sway you one way or the other haha. All things considered (and if it isn’t too late), I think the Bijan mod is probably the way to go. I haven’t tried it myself to be fair, but it seems to offer a lot more functionality and improvements in-sim, at least for the time being. Thanks very much! I often wonder where the upper limit is going to lie in terms of subscribers. I’ve managed to create a channel that I’m happy with, but the fact it’s a flight simulation channel, is always going to limit it a bit I think. Still, I don’t do it for the subscribers. . . I do it for the money!! Joking of course : P All the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Went with the Bijan mod - plus there is a good wee discount on Simmarket at the moment for it. About 10 Euros off it. So got that one today :-). Just a wee heads up if you are as it has a third off at the moment 🙂. I thought it a wee bit pricey originally but the current price seems a bit more reflective I think 🙂
Hi Max, If memory serves me correctly, the software will actually run (in the background) automatically each time you start up your PC and install appropriate textures for the date and time (I think I may have made mention of how it works during the video). You can indeed close the program whilst flying, as it simply installs the textures and then it’s “set and forget”. I hope that clarifies things a little? All the best! : )
Nice add-on. But the only thing I don't like is the mismatch of the tree colors vs the static (satellite) ground textures. For instance, you could have autumn trees, but depending on the time of year ground imagery was taken by satellite, you can have spring with lush green.
Hi Santi, Yes, that is one of the weaknesses of using these types of seasonal addons. The Bijan Four Season Pack goes some way to addressing your point, though it is not without its own issues. Personally I still prefer having the seasonal trees, over not having them, but the solution isn't perfect for sure. Cheers and all the best! : )
thank you for a clear and to the point review. I got excited when I saw this product but on a closer look think I will wait for Asobo to make their update first (I believe scheduled for 2022) or invest in Bijan's four seasons which I was on the fence about due to pricing.
My pleasure Lior! Glad it was of help in making your purchasing decision. Bijan’s mod does look rather good and seems to be spoken of very highly. It is a little pricey I agree, but I haven’t come across an unhappy customer yet (I haven’t tried it myself). Obviously the cheapest / easiest option is to wait for Asobo to do their thing - if you can live with green trees in the mean time hehe. Cheers, all the best! : )
There's no leaves on trees in Sweden now! I Looks more like late September to mid October to me, and almost the whole country lays in snow right now, I think I keep Bijan's Mod.
Thanks for the info Kent! I figured as much (since even the UK isn’t looking autumnal any more). So it seems the auto mode needs a bit of tweaking in terms of the tree types it displays. . . The lack of snow had certainly occurred to me as well, but I guess that’s Asobo’s fault and not REX’s haha. Cheers! : )
What a beautiful program! Hey, you still owe me a scenic flight with the Waco! 😛😂 to make up for it, I choose the location too: the italian Dolomites, near the border with Austria, or the Alps in Switzerland 😋😁😁
Yeah, it certainly spruces (no pun intended) the sim up a little more doesn’t it Davide. I promise I haven’t forgotten! In fact I thought exactly that, when I was selecting the Waco for the video haha. I mean, technically you got 2 Waco flights in 12 minutes - what more could you want?? : P Both of those locations are beautiful. I shan’t make any promises just yet, but I shall certainly consider them! ; ) Cheers Davide! All the best : )
Glad you’re enjoying the addon! As far as I’m aware, there is no method of saving your preferred settings I’m afraid. As I understand it though, Accuseason actually installs your preferences into the sim (via the community folder); so the tree size, seasonal settings etc should remain the same, until you either install new ones, or remove Accuseason altogether. I hope that makes sense? Cheers : )
It would be awesome now that you did this one, if you could do the Bijan seasons mod. I don't have either, but would love your thoughts and comparison.
Hi AG, Essentially, yes; REX uses the same tree technology as MSFS, so the trees will still look the same, they will just be coloured appropriately for the seasons. I hope that clarifies things? All the best : )
You went a full review without mentioning once or showing once a snow flake. I suspect it is not your bad as much as the product itself. Will wait for Asobo. By the way great imaging in your video.
Hi MSFS Canada, Well my logic was that I specifically wanted to test the program against the current date, to see how well it stacked up against the real-world seasonal conditions (a bit too autumnal overall). That we didn't see any snow throughout my examples, I think is more of a deficiency in sim, than an issue with REX Accuseason (which I don't believe would actually have any impact on snow coverage either way). There may have been a better way to demo the software, but it seemed like a reasonable way of doing it at the time. Glad you enjoyed the video quality though. Thanks very much! All the best : )
I believe the same issue will still be present UD, yes. The Bijan Four Season mod does actually fix this issue, on some runways at least. Well, it did - the functionality seems to be pretty hit and miss these days and the developer seems to have gone very quiet regarding any further updates etc. . . I hope that clarifies things. All the best! : )
I guess we're all waiting for the first detailed comparison review between Bijan's Four Seasons and AccuSeason, given that the former is by far the most VFM addon of MSFS and you can't really review AccuSeason without acknowledging the competition. I guess AccuSeason will appeal more to those who appreciate nice UIs, installers and automations rather than Bijan's manual method (which is ultimately a 5 second task to enable specific folders via Addons Linker app, which is also a must-have). It's a bit like comparing AIG with Aerosoft's Simple Traffic. The latter is a fire and forget thing, the former has 100x times more content if you care to figure out how it works (5-10 minute tutorial). Of course AIG is free but let's keep that out of the equation. AccuSeason's gradual growth of vegetation is also another fantastic feature. Overall I think that Bijan's addon is better and its support is the best I have ever seen in any kind of software, while on the other hand there are people who claim AccuSeason looks better in certain parts of the world (with colors closely matching those of real life etc). The time has come for some healthy competition.
"Look son, there goes another poorly distributed software apologist." Please upload the video of you updating and enabling Bijan's Seasons in 5 seconds LMAO. Look at the FBW installer... then look at Bijan's Seasons... it's laughably amateur.
@@captainzeppos Have been using Add-On linker since it was first available. Don't quite see how that relates to the extremely poor distribution method Bijan has opted for. At least it could be one download instead of 5 seperate downloads. It is the most tedious add-on to manage out of the 100s of mods I've installed for MSFS, and it updates the most frequently (except A32NX dev version). Stop trying to excuse a badly executed product.
@@holobolo1661 lol if the main argument against Bijan's mod is its distribution and install method, then it really must be better overall than accuwhatever
@@captainzeppos I'm not stating either one is better or worse than the other, I was just calling out your cognitive dissonance in your first comment claiming that you can update Bijan's in "5 seconds", which completely false and it's distribution is it's weakest point, which you seem to be agreeing with me on now. It's just funny seeing his fan boy club go around the MSFS forums and now here and act like it's the greatest piece of software ever released, is completely flawless and try to shut down anyone who brings a realistic assessment to the table.
But I don’t understand so for the weekly install does it do it automatically or each week I need to go and install the season for the next week and so on ?
Hi Talvin, As I understand it (and if memory serves me correctly - it’s been a fair old while since I reviewed the addon), REX briefly runs in the background each time you start your computer. The program checks the current date on your PC and then installs the appropriate seasonal textures; there’s no need for you to manually intervene (unless you wish to do so). I hope that clarifies things? All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thank you so much ! I was talking about de manual weekly install but what do you have the automatic weekly install or the manual weekly install I think that fort the automatic it sets up a daily download ? I think anyways thanks for the tutorials keep up with the great content ! Wish you also all the best
Great video! Been wanting something to change tree and foliage to more seasonal look, and so far the options have been limited. What is selling me on this is the easy to use UI and setup. As for your question about trees having leaves in Sweden in mid December; I live in Norway and most trees have lost the leaves already in late October (depending upon weather ie cold weather and windy sheds leaves quicker) and into November. Trees are definitely not having leaves left in mid December and I am confident the same holds true in Sweden.
Thanks Vograx, glad you found it useful in helping you to decide. Yeah, it seems Bijan’s mod and Accuseason both have their strengths. REX is obviously the better option if you want a decent, easy to use, “set and forget” UI. I figured as much on the trees. It’s much the same here in the UK. I find it’s always better to check though, rather than offering up my unfounded opinions haha. Thanks for the info, all the best! : )
I do like how REX AccuSeason looks but not have bare deciduous trees during winter in the Northern Hemisphere is somewhat of an immersion killer. Another thought is while it's great that the tree height can be changed there should be a way to randomize tree height either directly in MFSF 2020 or via an app like AccuSeason.
Agree with all of that Costello. I think both of those points somewhat come down to sim limitations (I could be wrong), but they would both be nice to see, especially the leafless trees. Cheers, all the best! : )
Another terrific review. You've just saved me some money, for the time being at least. Thanks for some terrific reviews throughout the year, and I hope you have a very Merry Christmas.
Thanks John! Happy you found the review useful and that it saved you some money as well. My pleasure as always and thank you very much for following along throughout the year. Wishing yourself and those dear to you, a very merry Christmas also! : )
I figured they would be Christopher, it’s much the same here in the UK. I just wanted to avoid making any unsubstantiated comments though haha. Thanks for the info! All the best : )
Hi Chris, Yes, the REX products are compatible with the Steam version of the sim (indeed I run the Steam version of the sim myself). In fact, so far as I am aware, any product that works in one version of the sim, should work just fine in the other (though the installation path may be slightly different. I hope that helps! All the best : )
Hi Brian, It’s the Carenado Waco - available from the in-sim Marketplace. It looks very pretty, sounds very nice and isn’t half bad for the price; the flight model is a bit uninspiring though unfortunately. . . ruclips.net/video/lwXK3cnyn2A/видео.html Cheers! : )
How does it compare to Bijan Hibashi's payware mod? Edit - I see this is addressed the end of your video. One potential advantage of this one over Bijan's is that this adjusts automatically.
I've not used Rex seasons, but I've had Bijan's mod for several months and can see straight away the differences from watching this video. Rex Pro's - much better user interface, looks very slick. Season presets with cool names and picture examples in the UI looks very appealing. Dyanmic season changes on weekly basis sounds great and means you won't have to manually delete a season and replace in your community folder every time you want to change as with Bijan. Cheaper price than Bijan's mod too. Bijan's Pros - Much more feature rich. In addition to the global season colour palette change that both Rex and Bijand do, Bijan also has tens of thousands of hand placed, hand crafted 3D trees all around the world. From forests of bamboo, giant Redwood forests, wild purple flowers on moorlands in spring, dead, burnt trees around Mt Saint Helens etc, its a much more varied and detailed world. He also removes photogrammetry trees from Asobo PG cities, clears unwanted trees around airports, and has hand corrected many regions in the world, removing trees where they shouldn't be, high moorlands, bleak mountains etc. He also has a terrain mask feature that also alters the appearance of ground textures to make the seasons look more authentic. Conclusion - If you are happy to tinker, and manually change files, and care more about features than UI presentation Bijan's mod offers a lot more content. However, if you like packages to be slick, well presented, and work with minimal effort then Rex Seasons looks a much more cleaner install and setup process. I'll stick with Bijan's, but Rex Seasons will likely appeal more to people who just want a set and forget type add on. Bijan's mod is a labour of love, he updates every single week, and you'll be constantly downloading and replacing the files if you want to keep it up to date. It's also confusing to buy, as the in game market place split it into four separate add on purchases so you need to buy it from Simmarket to get the best value, and all the products at once. If you're an enthusiast and like having new updates every few days and want the app to change and develop constantly go with Bijan, if you just want a simple add on that you can install and forget about, and not need to download an update every week get Rex.
@@kevinbrook7033 agree with everything, just add some - season textures are experimental(not necessary part) and have very annoyed glitch - vfr map with black quadrangles and from some altitude you can see contrast color places, so this(experimental textures) only for bush flying
Thank you very much for this excellent and succinct comparison between the two products Kevin! That seems to mirror what most people have to say regarding the Bijan mod. Definitely planning on taking a look at it myself (and your glowing review has tipped me over the edge for sure haha). Cheers, all the best! : )
Hi Jarrod, Both products certainly seem to have their own advantages; I think Kevin has summed it up very nicely. I haven’t tried the Bijan mod myself yet, but it seems Accuseason wins on ease of use, Bijan wins on overall functionality and the end result (which is probably more important for most). All the best! : )
I always learn something from your reviews and this was no exception. I know there has been talk recently of Asobo adding seasons to the sim so I might wait and see how that goes. Plus with our summer just kicking off, we have the right colours for the time being. Have a very Merry and safe Christmas and I hope 2022 will be a successful year for us all. Good wishes and take care. 😁😁
Well that’s great to hear haha! Yes, having seasons in the sim by default would obvious be the way to go. This is generally more of a stopgap solution I would say; but with Asobo on task, who knows how long that gap is going to be : P Maybe you can just move hemispheres every 6 months and then the sim will always look correct ; ) Thanks very much Squirel! I hope yourself and any family, friends etc have a very Merry Christmas as well : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Now that Asobo/Microsoft have said that "seasons" will be in MSFS 2024 (and perhaps not MSFS2020), I might have to have another look at this product. I see there is a new V2 out. Good wishes.
Yes. A bit sneaky of Asobo on that one : / AccuSeason V2 is much improved to be fair. I’ve been using the product in my last couple of vids; it’s basically set-and-forget and does a nice job at addressing the lack of seasons within the sim. If you plan on sticking with MSFS 2020, AccuSeason is probably a decent purchase (and you might be able to get a discount over the festive period). Cheers : )
Yeah, I’m not actually sure on that one Philip. I gather Bijan’s mod does a great job there though. All in all, the Bijan mod seems to offer the best end result. Accuseason is better suited to those who want an easy to use, “set and forget” UI etc. Cheers!
Would like to know how the UK trees are affected. Bijan's trees improve them by making more of them deciduous, and uses a better shape, more akin to UK trees like rounded oaks. If this addon had that, and terrain masks, that would help. Any chance you can check?
Hi Andrew. The AccuSeason trees in the UK are mostly deciduous. You can choose rounded tree canopies or irregular tree canopies so you get a choice there. Also, you are able to change the tree heights to either have short, default, or tall. Terrain masking is being prototyped and will be released in the future.
Hi Andrew, Hopefully REX’s answer clears some of that up? There are some improvements to the UK trees; I haven’t tried the Bijan mod myself, so I’m afraid I can’t really compare the two. There are no terrain masks yet with the addon, but I believe they are planned for a later date. Cheers, all the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations That is correct. Terrain masks are a feature that we are working on and will arrive in the future. This product will continue to evolve and improve.
Good question max. I’m not sure it would be so easy for REX to create such a product these days, given how the sim now renders its world, but I certainly wouldn’t complain if they do put out such a product! As I mentioned in the video, I think it would be nice if they had a “master” software manager, rather than all these individual programs. Cheers : )
Really informative video, I think I need something like this so have been poring over all the info I can get. Bijan's also looks really great, but also on my travels on the internet discovered there's BIRDS you can get for the USA. They also look really immersive. hint hint ;) Having looked further it's just even more confusing, whereas REX AccuSeason has a nice feature to simulate real world season in real time with the daily "fix" I kinda like that idea, the trees are nothing special and are just default retextures with no ground mask. I think if this addon had ground masks included like Bijan's version it would have been an instabuy (with the fact this will be updated as we go) REX has a good rep from the old days. Bijan's Season mod is just gorgeous, sure it's more expensive but the love and work gone into this addon is worth it, AND there's a ground mask now with the latest version. I almost clicked the button BUT you have to manually install the season you want, and it doesn't update in real time which is a big big shame, I really don't like the idea of messing around, a lot of hassle every time you want to change. Damn, I am divided now but lean towards REX again no ground mask? REX???? Come on.
Thanks very much Brave Heart, glad you found the video useful. Haha, I had seen the birds addon, but decided not to take a look. I’m not a fan of addons that don’t offer global coverage when they might (obviously sceneries and meshes etc are a bit of a different story). For example with Just Flight’s Real Taxiways addon (or whatever it was called), I would have begrudgingly paid for it (the sim should be accurate from the get-go), if it had fixed up the entire sim, but as it only covered one area, it would have potentially meant multiple purchases, installing the multiple products etc further down the line. The same goes with the birds addon really. I don’t know whether you’ve decided yet, but maybe Bijan is the way to go? Of course convenience is nice, but really what it all comes down to is, how good the sim looks! Sounds like Bijan is going to be the winner on that one. You could use an addon manager (if you’re familiar with such things) and presumably have a new season installed in seconds. Just a thought. . . Cheers! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations I went with REX, there is a convo going on MFS forums and one of the devs pitched in when someone mentioned terrain masks. They are working on them right now. Bijan has a ton to offer, but I am looking for something quick and dirty, set my trees to the week, tried a few other things, but knowing they're working on updating the addon gave me that final push. I am very happy with the result, along with the night lighting addons I got recently and of course the birds. Having said all that I mainly fly GA's around Florida, Alaska and New York (not the city, more long island and some of Jersey) I get what you are on about ie a global complete addon for the birds. I did check out the real taxiway textures, and runways textures which look really nice but haven't got there yet.
Ah ok, well I’m glad you’re enjoying it anyway, that’s the main thing! If REX can get the addon up to the same standards as Bijan’s mod (more or less), then obviously they will have a winner on their hands, as the UI is lightyears ahead (well, it exists haha). I’m happy enough with Accuseason as well, I find it’s preferable to go with the presets at the moment though, the Auto mode still needs some work I think. Ground masks would definitely be a huge and welcome addition, so definitely looking forward to that! Happy flying! : )
I’m confused why you see still those orange trees in Sweden in December. While the trees lost almost all off there leaves end of october. So what rex state on there site is incorrect? They say: WINTER DECIDUOUS TREES Microsoft Flight Simulator snow gives us attractive winter landscapes. To move to the next level, REX AccuSeason offers OUR rendition of deciduous winter trees for all areas where the simulator depicts deciduous trees and the winter season applies. These trees show significantly less leaves and look great in winter landscapes with or without snow.
Hi Peje, I hadn’t seen that quote from REX, but I would agree that what we saw in my tests, doesn’t really live up to that statement. My sense is that there probably are more wintry tree models available, but that the Accuseason algorithm hasn’t done a great job of depicting the correct season (based on the date we set). It looks like it’s obviously gone for autumnal textures, in the middle of December. . . Thanks for the info. Cheers!
Hi Jason, Thanks for the info. Yeah, I think overall the takeaway is that REX needs to work on their algorithm a little. It seems that really most of what we saw in the video were autumnal textures, whereas most countries we looked at (the UK included) and pretty deep into winter conditions now. Accuseason is a step in the right direction (better than having green trees in the winter haha), but there’s still work to be done. Cheers! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations oh I agree it's definitely better than default. Even if it's off by a week or two. As you had shown, you can pick any week and get the look you want. So the autumn colors seem to be an easy fix. My comment was more aimed at helping the channels algorithm 😉 with the secondary opinion being about the foliage color and amount. The bigger the channel, the more reviews we'll get, seems like a win win for most of us lol. I know I appreciate the more in depth reviews! Cheers!
Haha, well then I thank you all the more Jason! I’m sure the RUclips algorithm gods will appreciate the comment haha. Obviously if people are enjoying the channel that’s great and I hugely appreciate the support! Cheers : )
Great review, I might have missed this but, what impact do these seasonal add-ons have on performace. I have enough stutters and micro pause issues with MSFS as it is, do these add-ons make it worse?
Thanks Ray. I didn’t notice any impact on performance. I’d imagine Accuseason’s impact would be little if any (as it’s basically just changing the colour / size of some objects). I gather the Bijan mod does have a bit of an impact on performance (it is actually adding in custom objects though), but I haven’t tried that one myself. Sorry I can’t be more specific on that one. If you’re thinking of purchasing, let me know and I can run a little test for you. Cheers! : )
I haven't noticed if MSFS freezes lakes and pond in winter? If it didn't, this would be a nice addition in this addon. Always annoying to see them not frozen at -20C.
Can’t say I’ve ever noticed either Steven. According to John the sim does model this. I’m going to have to explore and find out for myself haha. All the best : )
Haha, they do somewhat dilore. The colouration could definitely use some work. . . I’m not sure re water surfaces; someone told me that a freezing mechanic is actually built into the sim, such that lakes can freeze and be landed on etc. I haven’t seen that myself (then again, I tend not to fly in the appropriate parts of the world), but I did notice ice reaching out into the sea (I think), when overflying Iceland the other day. If it isn’t a feature, it certainly should be as you say. Cheers! : )
Hi Hexperience, I’m afraid I haven’t found the time to test that specifically, but having done a bit more testing with Accuseason, I’ve found the Auto mode to be so-so. It tends to err on the side of being too autumnal (as you would probably have seen during the Swedish section of the video). My preference has subsequently been to make use of the presets instead, as you can better tailor things to what you’re expecting / hoping to see then. The downside of this approach of course, it does rather negate one of the main advantages of Accuseason. Hopefully REX will continue to tweak their Auto formula going forward. . . I hope that helps a bit. Cheers! : )
Really wanted to learn more about this and knew exactly where to go. Fantastic video, thanks for putting it together and big congrats on smashing through the 10k mark 🍻. Well deserved.
Ah well thanks very much sir! I’m genuinely chuffed, if you thought heading over here was a good port of call for such things. If I’m not too late (ie you haven’t already purchased Accuseason); I actually have a video coming out on the Bijan Habashi - 4 Seasons Pack (the competition to Accuseason) on Wednesday. That’s certainly worthy of consideration also. As a little thank you, for all of the DoW content that I’ve enjoyed over the years, I’d be happy to send you a link to the video now, if you’re interested? Thanks very much on the 10K. Certainly a nice little milestone to reach (and just before Christmas). I was just telling myself that I wasn’t going to have a beer with my meal, but it seemed as though you were willing me on, so who am I to argue haha! ; ) I hope you had a great Christmas, wishing you a very happy new year and looking forward to more DreamsOfWings content in 2022! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations your review, as always, was very fair and informative. Loved how you presented it in split screen. I used to rush out and buy add-ons on FSX/P3D and am trying not to these days for the sake of my SSD drive and my wallet! 🤣. In the case of this one I would be tempted to leave it and see what Asobo can build into a future update. Great news you are doing a video on the 4 Seasons Pack. I’ve heard good things about that and would be very interested to see what you think. Happy New Year to you too sir and won’t be long before you are hitting 20k! Best wishes for 2022!
Thank you very much Cieloalto, my pleasure! : ) Good question. I do seem to recall some areas of Hawaii are looking pretty rough. Actually, still haven’t visited the Grand Canyon myself. Unfortunately there are still lots of areas of the world with sub-optimal rendering. I guess since we’ve already had a US World Update, we won’t see another one for a while (if ever). I think the best hope will be as photo imagery improves and the sims AI for scenery generation improves, then some of these lower fidelity areas will improve as a result. All the best!
Very well presented. Again, the side by side is the best tutorial for us to see the actual differences. Right now it's $25 US and given what people will spend on add-ons, it's a drop in the bucket. It is nice to see some color and hopefully they will continue to improve with updates. Congrats on the 10K. If you keep putting out videos like you have, the subs will grow expotentially. Keep'em coming and Happy Holidays to you and stay healthy! !! !!!
Thanks again Mark! Glad you found it useful. Yes, Accuseason doesn’t offer anything drastic, but as you say, it brings a bit more colour and life into the sim, without breaking the bank. I do hope REX continues to develop it as they say they will though. Thanks very much! Nice to have so many people enjoying the channel. Wishing yourself and any family, friends etc a very Merry Christmas / happy holidays! : )
I may have missed you saying it, but were you supplied with a copy of this from REX? If so it is essential for you to make this disclaimer very clear at the beginning of any review for it to be considered a truly independent review.
Hi CaptVirtual, Nope, no endorsement from REX on this one. I always try and remember to make mention of any such relationship during a review video (and indeed one is legally required to do so), but on one or two occasions it has genuinely slipped my mind. For what it’s worth though; I value the integrity of the channel far more than I do a free product. In fact, generally if I expect a product is going to be questionable, I will specifically purchase it with my own funds, to ensure that my opinion isn’t tainted by any sort of a relationship with the developer. Both in criticism and in praise, I wouldn’t offer any opinion that I didn’t believe to be true and I try and stick to demonstrable facts where I can. Obviously my word doesn’t mean much on the face of it, but hopefully my reviews generally speak for themselves. . . I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )
As always concise and useful review - many thanks, the other seasonal pack in my view is better and more realistic, I encourage you to give it a try ie Bijan’s which presently “ knocks the Rex effort in to touch”
Thank you very much Charlie (though I would be the first to confess that my reviews are not always “concise” haha), my pleasure as always! I certainly intend to try the Bijan mod when I get the chance, seems to offer quite a lot more functionality and everyone speaks very highly of it. All the best! : )
I haven’t run the numbers, Unairspace however, I didn’t notice any appreciable impact in performance (I believe, the program is only replacing like for like so, there shouldn’t be any significant FPS hit). AccuSeason actually received a significant update a few months ago and I use the addon all the time now : ) I hope that helps a little. All the best!
Hmm, that’s a fair point CPT Evillian. Perhaps it’s the tree types that are off, as opposed to the colour (although they’re still inaccurate in other parts of the world to be fair). I guess REX still have a lot of tweaking to do with Accuseason anyway - maybe we’ll see more accurate representation in the future. Cheers! : )
Thanks for the review. I think it is a bit of shame that Rex seem to have ripped-off A2A's naming convention (AccuSim, AccuFeel). But other than that it looks interesting. I guess that changing the colour of leaves is easier than replacing trees with leafless versions in the winter.
My pleasure! Haha, tell me about it; the number of times I had to stop myself from saying “AccuFeel” when I was recording. . . I think it was a bit unnecessary to use the same convention, but perhaps it was a genuine oversight etc. Overall I think the product is a decent one, although there’s certainly still room for improvement. Cheers : )
I enjoyed this excellent video which was very quick off the mark. One question though, if run in fully dynamic "Automatic Mode", can one just close the program and leave it closed or does it need to be opened each time one runs MSFS?
Automating it schedules a task in Windows to have it run/update every night at midnight, but you don't actually need it running when the sim is running. I believe it dumps the textures and you're good to go. You can't change settings while the same is running for the same reasons.
Thanks for the clarification and offering up the help Joe. That was more or less my understanding of how it works (no idea it happened at midnight mind you). Presumably ones PC would need to be running for the task to be run - midnight seems bit late for a lot of people. Cheers! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations No problem, happy to help! Some users in the Rex discord have said it's easy enough to find the task that Rex schedules in the Windows Scheduler and adjust the time it runs. Right now it just opens the program, checks the date, and makes any adjustments to the foliage, so every morning you'll find the program open if you left your PC on overnight.
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Joe's comments are not quite correct and there would be no point in leaving the PC on overnight as there would be no adjustments made as it updates in the default setting at 12:00pm which is midday (not midnight, that would be AM of course). It is simple to edit the task to update at any convenient time. I chose at log on as to me this seems an obvious convenient time.
Hi Geoffrey, Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed the video. Well it seems that you know more than me now haha. It’s great to know that the automatic mode works at midday and indeed that it can be changed. I’ll look into it, though I may just stick with updating manually every now and then. Cheers, all the best!
I believe you’re correct Jarrod. Bijan’s custom models do, but they’re only available in select locations. Otherwise, it seems this is a current limitation of the sim and perhaps we will have to wait for Asobo to sort it. . . Cheers!
I am not quite convinced. To get realistic seasons it's not enough that deciduous trees changes colors in autumn and drop their leaves in winters. The ground color should change too. It looks unrealistic to have yellow trees on summer green fields. MSFS SDK probably does not allow to change color of ground textures, dunno. There are definitely no leaves in trees in Sweden at December. Not for me.
Fair enough Kati, I’m glad the review has helped you figure out that it’s for you or not. It is actually technically possible to change the colour of the ground textures; the Bijan mod already does this and REX are apparently looking to add the same functionality at a later date. As you say though, at the moment Accuseason doesn’t offer a drastic change, though I’m happy enough with it. Haha, figured there wouldn’t be any leaves on the trees (there aren’t in the UK either for the most part), but thought it best to check, before I go making unsubstantiated comments. All the best! : )
Essentially yes. I the think the Bijan mod is more comprehensive by the sounds of it (I would like to take a look at some point), but I expect for some (those less familiar with modding the sim perhaps), the accessible UI may be of benefit / appealing. Cheers : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations The daily tick, auto season update is what swings it for me, I actually like that idea rather than manually installing seasons ie: Bijan. If Bijan had some kind of auto daily tick, I would go with it. Hmm I dunno :P but ground textures can be changed, shame REX didn't include those too would have been an insta buy.
Fair enough Brave Heart. I think that’s certainly a nice feature have; “set and forget” as it were. Ease of access goes to REX and functionality goes to Bijan by the sounds of it. I believe REX are planning further improvements to Accuseason (as indeed Bijan is for his season pack), but who knows what we’ll get and when. This is the problem with products not being fully fleshed out on release - we never know exactly what we’re purchasing. . . Anyway, have fun trying to decide then : P All the best!
Hi Marek, No, although I gather REX are about to release a big update for AccuSeason and, altered seasonal ground textures / colours will be included. So, it might be worth revisiting the addon once that update has dropped. Cheers, all the best!
It looks nice - it has a slick interface, and the week-on-week automatic modifaction is a nice touch, but for me I'll stick with Bijan's AWESOME seasons mod which does the vegetation AND the ground colours for the simple task of dropping a folder into the community folder.
I find Bijan more realistic than this one, at least in the regions where I fly for real it is really top. Rex product at presents seems having too many colours and don't change the basic ground texture like Bijan's.
Hi Simon, Yes, the Bijan mod sounds like it does a lot of things very well. It’s one of those mods I’ve been considering / meaning to take a look at for ages. Having tried the REX version, I’m now quite keen to compare it with the Bijan offering. Certainly seasonal ground textures are a big plus! All the best! : )
Thanks for another interesting review. Personally, I couldn't see much difference. But my colour vision and phone screen may not be so good. Snow on tree foliage would be nice?
Hi Joe, For sure, snow on the ground is governed by the sim. Presumably REX could create trees with white foliage though, to simulate snow cover? Might be nice. I was hoping the winter trees might look a bit more “wintry” but maybe the “auto” feature just needs some work. Looks like it went for more of an autumnal setup overall. Cheers! : )
I bought this as soon as REX released it. So far, I have not been impressed especially with the inability to change the presets. It cannot be done, it appears, unless you completely exit MSFS and then re-start it. Even then, I am not certain changes are being applied. Changing between autumn to winter and summer, exiting the current flight and reloading, the trees remained orange. I never could get a good winter look here in the mid-Atlantic (USA). Since it takes me at least 5 minutes to start up MSFS I am disappointed somewhat. I guess I am used to being able to quickly change weather. Perhaps my expectations are too high.
Sorry you aren’t a big fan Dennis. Unfortunately, as the new textures etc are installed into your community folder, seasons can not be updated “on the fly”. As with any changes to the community folder, the sim needs to be booted up from scratch, in order for the new files to be recognised. It does make the addon a bit less flexible - I think it’s really designed around those that just want the current season represented in the sim, “set and forget” if you will. REX are apparently going to continue to work on it, so hopefully they bring along some changes that you find more enjoyable. All the best : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thanks for the response. I am getting used to it now and enjoying it more since I know it is not a "quick change" application such as their weather app. Perhaps if they had mentioned in their instructions that limitation/requirement (i.e. re-start the app) I would heve had better expectations. I had watched a review where the reviewer seemed to be making the changes by just restarting the flight. Not sure how he did that. Many thanks again.
Ah great, glad you’re enjoying it a little more now! Likewise actually haha (I’ve gone with just selecting presets that I want to see in the sim, I still find the Auto mode a little questionable). REX should have mentioned the fact that the sim needs to be restarted for the changes to take affect, as should I during the review to be fair. Perhaps the guy was running in dev mode, and somehow you can refresh the Community Folder “on the fly” then? Cheers! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Agree. Actually, you were the first to mention the restart issue. I had watched a couple others that did not mention it. Thanks!
Damn :( I was hoping for a connection with the Calendar Time and Date setting that I am doing in the sim, not a connection with the local date and time. After all we're sim pilots and speaking for us Europeans, we all wanna escape the northern Winter darkness right now :( So, the System-Date-Connection is a nice tweak, but it's not as integrated and native as i had hoped for. Guess i'll wait for Asobo to implement seasons by themselves, even if it takes many moons until we see that.
Hi Havoc, Yes, it’s a bit peculiar that you can’t link the season to the sim date. I suppose that wouldn’t really work though, since the textures have to be installed before starting the sim. Sounds like waiting for native seasons in the sim would indeed be your best bet then. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long (or indeed too many moons haha). . . Cheers! : )
Bijon is better just because REX just makes all the trees the same color and Bijon has yellows, orange and reds mixed which gives it a realistic look. Sry REX, like the other product I bought from you it just uses space on my PC.
Thanks for the info Cyber - looking to try the Bijan mod soon myself. REX don’t seem to have “hit the nail on the head”, quite as well as they were doing in FSX / P3D. WeatherForce got off to rather a ropey start; I use it occasionally (it’s much improved over the release version) as it does tend to be a little more accurate than the sims Live Weather, but it brings its own issues with it. Cheers!
Completely agree Samuel and I believe it will be ultimately - I suppose this is just a bit of a stopgap solution, for those that want results quicker than Asobo may be able to deliver them. All the best!
Sorry to hear that, Vanz Kim. The same has been true of REX Weather Force, with the program having CTD’s with more recent versions of MSFS. REX really need to get on top of their product updates. I hope you manage to get your issues sorted. All the best!
Fair enough Ken. Have you looked into FBW's FSLTL addon? A lot of people really seem to be enjoying that for their AI traffic generation and it's completely free! All the best : )
I can not see any difference? I want to see snow on tree foliage after a fresh snowfall. Minor shader changes...Nope! Tree heights..Nope...already been done! Not for my wallet!
Fair enough David. I think Accuseason does offer some improvement to the sim, but I agree that it’s nothing drastic. REX have said they’ll continue to work on the product, but as always with these products that release not fully fleshed out, who knows what we’ll actually get in the end. . . Cheers! : )
Ideally, yes absolutely! I gather Asobo do plan to add seasonal textures at a later date, so this product just fills that void in the mean time, for those that wish to do so. All the best : )
I can subscribe every thing you wrote. Bijan's seasons seems much more realistic than Rex ones.
you need to use a mod manager to avoid dragging files in and out
Brilliant point Jenny! I use one with DCS and a couple of other sims - no idea why I’d never thought to use one with MSFS?! XD
Cheers : )
I think I’ll go with Bijan’s
That seems to be “the people’s favourite” haha. Hope it’s good : )
I've been using this for a while. It is VERY helpful when flying in very snowy areas...much better seeing Alaska in snow, than green in the winter.
Bijan's Seasons is amazing. Best single mood I have for MSFS.
I'm agree
I agree! Bijan's 4 Seasons is the best addon I have
I’ve been hearing so many good things about it since recording this video haha. Hoping to take a look at it at some point myself : )
I’ve been hearing so much positive feedback regarding the Bijan mod. I will have to take a look! XD
Great review again sir! All the best!!!!!
Thanks very much James, and to you! : )
An excellent review. For my part I will be sticking with Bijan seasons which includes multiple 3D tree models but that's just my preference.
Thanks once again John! It seems Bijan’s mod is a real fan-favourite. I’m hoping to take a look at it myself some time soon : )
All the best!
Congrats! Seasons are on the backlog, snow was just the first little bit. Pretty sure in 2022 we could see a proper implementation.
Cheers Ra!
Yeah, native seasons would certainly be a nice addition to the sim; although having summer and winter options has generally been enough to “get by” with (for me personally) I think. It’ll be great if we get proper seasons in 2022 though. The more native improvements we can see to the sim, the better!
Cheers : )
Many congratulations on your 10K! Here's to the 20K...
Thanks very much indeed John! Let’s hope so hey ; )
Congratulations on 10K, you fully deserve it. I always look forward to a review from you, i feel like you put a lot of effort in to it. We appreciate you👍
Congrats mate!
That’s about 70% more subscribers than what it was when I subscribed.
Thanks man! Indeed, you’ve been along for the ride for a while now! Hopefully I can find another 70% along the way ; )
Cheers! : )
Sweden shouldn't be coloured at all in December 😂. Waaaaay to much leaves on the trees
Haha, I figured as much JG, but I thought it was better to wait for someone “in the know” to confirm for me ; )
Cheers!
Hi Point Man,
That’s true.
@@braveheart1985 the auto season feature will come from MS / Asobo in 2022 so no need to create something that will be replaced if you ask me.
Ooo, I’ll have to check that video out then. I’m definitely keen to give the Bijan mod a go as well. The lack of UI doesn’t really bother me, but it would certainly benefit him to add one I’m sure.
Cheers!
It's rather warm today in western Sweden so there is no snow, but the trees really should be barren without any leaves.
Ahh ok, that’s interesting Andreas, I was wondering about the lack of snow haha (I had just assumed that was Live Weather being dodgy again). I figured the leaves should be gone, given that they are in the UK also, but it’s always better to check with someone in the know! ; )
Thanks, all the best!
Joking of course : P
All the best!
Ah cheers James, I’ll have to go take another look then (like you, I thought it was a touch pricey initially)! ; )
Thanks for reviewing this. I will add it to my wish list and maybe grab if on sale.
Thanks. Hope you will enjoy it.
My pleasure Chickenlips! Glad you found the review useful. If you do pick it up, I hope you enjoy it! : )
For automatic seasons do you need to run the software everytime? Allso can you close the software while flying?
Hi Max,
If memory serves me correctly, the software will actually run (in the background) automatically each time you start up your PC and install appropriate textures for the date and time (I think I may have made mention of how it works during the video).
Hi Santi,
Yes, that is one of the weaknesses of using these types of seasonal addons.
Both of those locations are beautiful. I shan’t make any promises just yet, but I shall certainly consider them! ; )
Cheers Davide! All the best : )
Loving this add on, but as I reopen the menu it seems to be at default size. Is there a way to save the settings...
I’m certainly planning on doing just that Jeremy. Can’t say exactly when it might be (soon I hope), but I’ll reach out to Bijan anyway : )
Cheers!
when my normal msfs trees are buggy or i see pixel, do i see pixel with rex also?
Hi AG,
Essentially, yes; REX uses the same tree technology as MSFS, so the trees will still look the same, they will just be coloured appropriately for the seasons.
I hope that clarifies things? All the best : )
You went a full review without mentioning once or showing once a snow flake. I suspect it is not your bad as much as the product itself. Will wait for Asobo. By the way great imaging in your video.
Hi MSFS Canada,
Well my logic was that I specifically wanted to test the program against the current date, to see how well it stacked up against the real-world seasonal conditions (a bit too autumnal overall).
Does it cover all runways and taxiways in snow in winter just like defaukt?
@@holobolo1661 it's called MSFS Addon Linker. Look it up. Bijan's mod is better in all things except the installer and the vegetation growth.
Hi Talvin,
As I understand it (and if memory serves me correctly - it’s been a fair old while since I reviewed the addon), REX briefly runs in the background each time you start your computer.
I noticed a bug where it adds trees to the reno air races
Oh really haha? I guess the algorithm didn’t take that one into account (bit of a shame). A few more “pylons” to work your way around now then : P
I’ll send in a request to Rex to see if there aware of the issue.
Thanks, that ought to help quite a few others out as well : )
Yeah, most of the leaves are gone by now here in Sweden. That video looked like mid October-november.
I figured they would be Christopher, it’s much the same here in the UK. I just wanted to avoid making any unsubstantiated comments though haha. Thanks for the info!
All the best : )
is this compatible with steam? T have msfs se. I want to download and install all of rex. Is that possible? are they all compatible with the S.E?
Hi Chris,
Yes, the REX products are compatible with the Steam version of the sim (indeed I run the Steam version of the sim myself). In fact, so far as I am aware, any product that works in one version of the sim, should work just fine in the other (though the installation path may be slightly different.
I hope that helps! All the best : )
What is the red bi-plane you are flying?
Hi Brian,
It’s the Carenado Waco - available from the in-sim Marketplace. It looks very pretty, sounds very nice and isn’t half bad for the price; the flight model is a bit uninspiring though unfortunately. . .
ruclips.net/video/lwXK3cnyn2A/видео.html
Cheers!
@@einherz yes I agree with you regarding terrain mask. Still not perfect yet.
Hi Jarrod,
Both products certainly seem to have their own advantages; I think Kevin has summed it up very nicely.
This is generally more of a stopgap solution I would say; but with Asobo on task, who knows how long that gap is going to be : P
Maybe you can just move hemispheres every 6 months and then the sim will always look correct ; )
Thanks very much Squirel!
Yes. A bit sneaky of Asobo on that one : /
AccuSeason V2 is much improved to be fair. I’ve been using the product in my last couple of vids; it’s basically set-and-forget and does a nice job at addressing the lack of seasons within the sim. If you plan on sticking with MSFS 2020, AccuSeason is probably a decent purchase (and you might be able to get a discount over the festive period).
Cheers : )
Not a word about palm trees in tropical regions. I'll stick with Bijan's 4-Seasons addon. He's got SE Asia covered.
Hi Andrew,
Hopefully REX’s answer clears some of that up? There are some improvements to the UK trees; I haven’t tried the Bijan mod myself, so I’m afraid I can’t really compare the two. There are no terrain masks yet with the addon, but I believe they are planned for a later date.
Cheers, all the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations That is correct. Terrain masks are a feature that we are working on and will arrive in the future. This product will continue to evolve and improve.
Im asking myself if there will be like a Rex 5 how Rex 4 was for FSX...just for MSFS then...I really hope they are working on it!
They also look really immersive. hint hint ;)
Having looked further it's just even more confusing, whereas REX AccuSeason has a nice feature to simulate real world season in real time with the daily "fix" I kinda like that idea, the trees are nothing special and are just default retextures with no ground mask.
Hi Peje,
I hadn’t seen that quote from REX, but I would agree that what we saw in my tests, doesn’t really live up to that statement. My sense is that there probably are more wintry tree models available, but that the Accuseason algorithm hasn’t done a great job of depicting the correct season (based on the date we set). It looks like it’s obviously gone for autumnal textures, in the middle of December. . .
Thanks for the info. Cheers!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Hi, thank you!
I'm from the midwest U.S. and that scenery looked nothing like mid December where I'm from.
Hi Jason,
Thanks for the info.

Cheers! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thank you for answering. I will let you know if I pursue this. Cheers, Ray.
This add-on does not affect FPS?
I haven't noticed if MSFS freezes lakes and pond in winter? If it didn't, this would be a nice addition in this addon. Always annoying to see them not frozen at -20C.
Yes they do. I've landed on frozen water in Alaska.
Is that so John, never knew that. Guess I’m heading to Alaska on my next flight then haha.
Can’t say I’ve ever noticed either Steven. According to John the sim does model this. I’m going to have to explore and find out for myself haha.
All the best : )
Autumn leaves look more like there was a draught. Water surfaces should freeze in winter so you can land on them with skis.
Cheers! : )
Can you set the sim to late January and try Sweden or northern Canada?
Hi Hexperience,
I’m afraid I haven’t found the time to test that specifically, but having done a bit more testing with Accuseason, I’ve found the Auto mode to be so-so.
I was just telling myself that I wasn’t going to have a beer with my meal, but it seemed as though you were willing me on, so who am I to argue haha! ; )
I hope you had a great Christmas, wishing you a very happy new year and looking forward to more DreamsOfWings content in 2022! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations your review, as always, was very fair and informative. Loved how you presented it in split screen. In the case of this one I would be tempted to leave it and see what Asobo can build into a future update. Great news you are doing a video on the 4 Seasons Pack. Happy New Year to you too sir and won’t be long before you are hitting 20k! Best wishes for 2022!
Good video and thank you ! 😁😁👍👍When MSFS is going to update Grand canyon and Hawaii ? most of their cities looks like FS2004
Thank you very much Cieloalto, my pleasure! : )
Good question.
Hi CaptVirtual,
Nope, no endorsement from REX on this one.
Any down side for the performance?
I haven’t run the numbers, Unairspace however, I didn’t notice any appreciable impact in performance (I believe, the program is only replacing like for like so, there shouldn’t be any significant FPS hit). AccuSeason actually received a significant update a few months ago and I use the addon all the time now : )
I hope that helps a little. All the best!
Sweden has mostly pine trees which remain green. So technically sweden should be even more green.
Hi Geoffrey,
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed the video. Well it seems that you know more than me now haha. It’s great to know that the automatic mode works at midday and indeed that it can be changed. I’ll look into it, though I may just stick with updating manually every now and then.
Cheers, all the best!
I've not seen any mod that actually takes leaves of trees, it's quite a significant inaccuracy for winter weather.
Isn't this just doing what bijan trees have been doing for months, but with a ui.
This is the problem with products not being fully fleshed out on release - we never know exactly what we’re purchasing. . .
Anyway, have fun trying to decide then : P
All the best!
No change on grass color? Pitty
Hi Marek,
No, although I gather REX are about to release a big update for AccuSeason and, altered seasonal ground textures / colours will be included. So, it might be worth revisiting the addon once that update has dropped.
Cheers, all the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations yeah, I understand it has already been released in the "advanced" version
Ah ok, I missed that haha. I’ll have to check it out. Cheers for the info!
It sounds like Bijan’s mod is great, from everything I have heard. Hoping to take a look at some point myself.
Cheers : )
Hi Simon,
Yes, the Bijan mod sounds like it does a lot of things very well. It’s one of those mods I’ve been considering / meaning to take a look at for ages. Having tried the REX version, I’m now quite keen to compare it with the Bijan offering. Certainly seasonal ground textures are a big plus!
All the best! : )
Can't wait to see what this game looks like in 5 years and not be able to play it because of bugs :)
Hahaha. I fear you may be right Ryan, but I hope you’re wrong : P
Thanks for another interesting review. Personally, I couldn't see much difference. But my colour vision and phone screen may not be so good. Snow on tree foliage would be nice?
Accuseasons doesn't do snow; that's up to however you get the weather.
Hi Joe,
For sure, snow on the ground is governed by the sim.
After all we're sim pilots and speaking for us Europeans, we all wanna escape the northern Winter darkness right now :(
So, the System-Date-Connection is a nice tweak, but it's not as integrated and native as i had hoped for.
Guess i'll wait for Asobo to implement seasons by themselves, even if it takes many moons until we see that.
Hi Havoc,
Yes, it’s a bit peculiar that you can’t link the season to the sim date.
Cheers!
Should already be in the SIM.....
Absolutely
Completely agree Samuel and I believe it will be ultimately - I suppose this is just a bit of a stopgap solution, for those that want results quicker than Asobo may be able to deliver them.
All the best!
I bought it and installed but can't make it work and there is more people like me. Think twice before you buy.
Sorry to hear that, Vanz Kim. The same has been true of REX Weather Force, with the program having CTD’s with more recent versions of MSFS. REX really need to get on top of their product updates.
I hope you manage to get your issues sorted. All the best!
Not a priority; traffic first on my wish list
Fair enough Ken. Have you looked into FBW's FSLTL addon? A lot of people really seem to be enjoying that for their AI traffic generation and it's completely free!
All the best : )
I can not see any difference? I want to see snow on tree foliage after a fresh snowfall. Minor shader changes...Nope! Tree heights..Nope...already been done! Not for my wallet!
Fair enough David. I think Accuseason does offer some improvement to the sim, but I agree that it’s nothing drastic. REX have said they’ll continue to work on the product, but as always with these products that release not fully fleshed out, who knows what we’ll actually get in the end. . .
Cheers! : )
Shouldn't this be part of original sim? You have to be a millionaire to install all those add-ons.
Ideally, yes absolutely! I gather Asobo do plan to add seasonal textures at a later date, so this product just fills that void in the mean time, for those that wish to do so.
All the best : )
