    Nice to see this great product getting a review. Just to note, it'll come with a UI with next weeks update! Definitely the better of the two seasons mods imo. Much more attention to detail and the most updated mod in history :)

      Hi Stu,
      That’s definitely going to give the 4 Season Pack quite an edge then (although REX may catch up again in time, since I think they are planning many of the same features). I shall look to update this video accordingly, once V7 is out : )
      The main reason I decided to take a look at Bijan’s mod, was because of all the good comments I was receiving from you guys (and I’m certainly glad I did!). It seems to be a very popular mod and it seems he’s doing all the right things as a dev - great to see!
      Cheers, all the best!

      With all problem caused by Asobo monthly changes, having a developer that continually update his product is a greath plus for me, and frankly the other obe came second with only an apparent better interface but ... at least for Europe where I fly for real the Habashy priduct seems to me the much real. The experimental ground texture for me are ok and Rex texture seems to me too bright, at least for what I have seen. Probably much depend from where you fly so it is possible that elswere one maybe is slightly better then the other but both make their work quite good. What I find strange is that Asobo have not done such things from the start. Thanks for the rewiew and yes, Habashi update is scheduled for the mid of this month...

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад +2

      Yes, that’s very true Antonio. I’ve heard a lot of people praising Bijan for his regular updates, that’s great to see and quite important in the “turbulent” world of MSFS.
      I agree that the 4 Seasons Pack is the visually more realistic option overall, but then I am a European flier also.
      You’re most welcome on the video! My pleasure as always. Cheers : )

      I actually never set out to be a “review channel” haha, but it seems I’ve found an avenue that people find useful and I’m “fortunate” that I’m not really in a position where I need to curry favour with any devs etc (that being said, I always try to give them a fair crack). I definitely enjoy doing the reviews and I’m really happy people find them useful!
      Hope you’re well. Thanks again and all the best! : )

    Bijan's products are some of the best available. Got them all on PC and then via marketplace when got my xbox as can't imagine the sim without them. So much work and love is put into them and incredible commitment to community

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations

      The main reason I picked up the mod, was the sheer number of positive sentiments I had seen for both the mod and Bijan’s work ethic, customer support etc. It’s great to see a dev doing so much to support their work - we could use more of that in the sim / hobby! I’m enjoying the mod very much myself also.

    Fantastic video, love the effect the terrain masking gives. It makes a big difference. I’m tempted to see what Rex do with the new upcoming features you mentioned before I dig out the wallet. This does look very good though.

      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад +2

      Thanks very much once again DoW's! The terrain masks are certainly the "ace up the sleeve" of Bijan's mod at the moment. As you allude to though, REX should be doing the same at some point.
      No doubt, just as they both have their products in a fully-fledged state, Asobo will rock up with native seasons haha. So indeed, patience is arguably the best course of action for the time being. . .

    Great informative review video and one that is needed for Bijan Habashi. Bought this along with my Kodiak and was a wonderful experience flying the Kodiak with a distinct seasonal feel to the landscape. Really makes a difference and increases immersion. Personally, I would 100% recommend this add-on as long as you are comfortable with copying/pasting into the community folder here and there. I did think it was a little pricey initially but I managed to get it with 33% off from Sim Market which made the cost a bit more palatable. But at full price it is a little pricey but now I have it I would say very much worth it :-). Thanks for the review ITBS 🙂

      Like you, I managed to pick the mod up on sale and I think it was very fairly priced with the discount (a touch pricey otherwise). Either way, I’m very happy with my purchase and I agree, it definitely adds to the immersion within MSFS.

    Bijan Habashi - 4 Season Pack V7 will be released the 15th and will have a Rex like GUI interface so the winner is obvious. Also not the usual manual way will still be possible after V7 release what I love because I'm an IT pro and don't want any GUI's with my linker program ;-) Good video & review but I would recommended high resolution recording and YT video quality settings to you can see much more details that Bijan Habashi - 4 Season Pack has to offer.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад +1

      Hi Sven,
      So I hear from Bijan himself haha. Well that’s great news and as you say, should make the pack a clear winner (for the time being). Great that both installation options will still be available also. . .
      It would certainly be nice to use the sim / record in higher resolution for sure, but unfortunately I just don’t have the equipment / setup to do that readily at the moment. My monitor is only 1080p for example. I know there are ways around it, but I’ve found that the video processing times, storage space required for the footage etc are all factors that I would find a little prohibitive with my current setup / amount of free time. Not ideal I know, but for the time being, it is what it is I’m afraid. . .
      Cheers, all the best! : )

  • @bravetoss
    @bravetoss 3 года назад +2

    I think both are good products.
    Bijan:
    + better tree variety, there are palm trees near equator etc.
    + terrain mask - that is huge advantage, environment looks much mode believable during fall and winter (need to say terrain mask covers only US, Canada, Europe, Japan and New Zealand at the moment, last time I checked).
    - manual updates
    - for some regions, fall trees looks weird (f.e. for my home area in Czech Republic, trees were in sorts of colour from bright red to bright yellow. That's not how they look when I look out of the window)
    AccuSeason:
    + easy to install and update, once set, no need to do manual updates
    + automatic updates are on weekly basis and should change tree color a little bit week by week, opposite to same color for whole season in Bijan
    + irregular trees adds little more variety compared to default msfs trees
    + winter trees "without leafs" looks more realistic
    - no terrain mask - huge disadvantage, will be added in the future according to REX. If you have Bijan mod, it should be possible to use terrain mask from Bijan mod until REX implements it.
    I used Bijan for quite some time, but switched to AccuSeason lately because I was tired with manual updates.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад

      A very nice little summary there Tomas, thanks!
      That’s actually a really good idea, using the Bijan terrain masks and the Accuseason trees, might have to give that a go myself. Probably wouldn’t be worth purchasing both products just to do that, but since I own them both already : P
      Apparently Bijan’s mod will be getting a UI in its next major update and REX of course have future plans for Accuseason, so it will be interesting to see which option comes out on top. They’ll probably both just be finished with development and then Asobo will come along with their in-built seasons haha ; )

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 года назад

      Hi Bolt,
      Things have changed a little bit since this review, as there is indeed now an auto function. Essentially though, you load in seasons based on hemisphere. So for example, if you load in summer textures in the Northern hemisphere, you're automatically loading in winter textures in the Southern hemisphere and vice versa (and I believe there will be a gradual transition between the two, but don't quote me on that).
      Does that clarify things a little? All the best! : )

    I've been using Bijan since the very early releases. Initially he sold a couple different versions/packs, so I confusingly have a mix of products in my simmarket list.
    If you use an add-on linker than the management of which season to use is quite simple.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад

      Hi CV,
      I must admit, I initially found the nomenclature of his various packs a little confusing and that was one of the reasons I held off purchasing (I didn’t want to buy the wrong thing haha). Simmarket doesn’t help, as there UI can be a little sub-optimal when looking back at your previous purchases (I find).
      An addon linker would definitely be the best way to do things for the moment, though it sounds like we’ll be getting a proper UI from Bijan very soon anyway : )

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations I sympathise exactly with all that you said. I hope release v7 will address some of this confusion. And I totally agree with simmarket web & app UI being 'sub-optimal' as you call it. I call it 90's html list architecture. Simmarket UI needs a major upgrade, I have sent feedback on this very topic. They need to hire/steal some Orbx or Contrails staff and do a major upgrade. They make the majority of commercial sales and have been sitting on their laurels for too long. It's time they get wake up.

      Indeed Thailight, it feels a bit as though the whole enterprise could use somewhat of a revamp. I tend to shop elsewhere when I can, but Simmarket often seem to be the first retailer with XYZ on the “shelves”. So as a reviewer, I find myself buying more stuff through them than I might otherwise. I’ve never had a bad experience with them to be fair (been using them for years), but I’ve seen quite a few stories from people who have unfortunately.

I’ve noticed the same issue with parts of New Zealand (being covered in perpetual snow). I am curious what color settings you're using in Accu Season though. I agree about the colors, so I'm going to try the cool settings and see what that does.

      Oh, haha, no I missed that update Joe. This video was recorded using the release version of Accusim and V6.7 of the 4 Season Pack.
      The clips in this video were taken from my full Accuseason review. For that I went with “Auto” textures, based on the 16th of December and I kept the colour settings at default. Overall I thought the trees were rather too autumnal in Accuseason (for the time of year), but going with the cool preset may well have helped. I’d imagine REX will keep tweaking the formula also (sounds like they already have).
      Both products have their strengths and I have no personal dog in the fight really. The aim of the comparison, was really just to help people decide which product might be right for them : )
      Cheers!

    I have this pack and really enjoy its subtleness, and it does what it says on the tin.
    Most of my flying is GA using the NXi G1000, and the terraim masks put big blocks over the screen (known issue in the the Bijan notes). Hopefully that'll be sorted once that comes out of Beta.

      Hi Brian,
      Yep, that’s probably a fair point. My logic was that it would be good to see the new textures under a variety of different lighting conditions (as the sim’s lighting doesn’t look particularly great under clear skies), but in hindsight, your suggestion probably would have been the better way to go.

    Both products don't do winter properly which is the biggest reason to have a seasonal pack, and both do winter horribly especially when there is snow on the ground,. Hopefully when Asobo chimes in with their seasons they do a better job than the payware mods do.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад

      Hi Vinyl,
      I agree that winter modifications could be better (particularly regarding the trees) and autumn / winter are really what these mods are all about. Personally I still find the sim looks significantly more appropriate with the mod, than without though. For myself (and I would imagine many others), I really see these sorts of season packs as a bit of a stop-gap solution, until Asobo does their thing. I probably could have just waited, but I figured it would be a nice addition to the sim, for the sake of the channels content etc. Overall I’m actually very happy with the product, but to each their own of course! : )

    Thanks for the video. You've saved me some money! Not at all impressed. And no snow and ice on Alaskan runways? Why is that realistic?? It's not. Not impressed with the autumn foliage either. It's 2023! Surely someone can do better. Until they can, I won't be paying $10 for each season. And then you've got to uninstall the one you're not using and reinstall-uninstall-reinstall-uninstall, ad infinitum. Seriously? This developer has obviously never been to New England in autumn and seen the colour palette - or flown in a sleet storm out of Skagway, Alaska to Juneau. No the runways aren't clear. I won't even tell you about autumn in New Zealand.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  Год назад +1

      My pleasure Emmie, that’s the name of the game!
      Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any perfect solution when it comes to snow coverage on MSFS’ runways. By default, the first things to be covered in snow within MSFS, are the runways / road network, which doesn’t really make any sense (as they’d be the first things to be swept / treated); the Bijan mod aims to combat that but, obviously goes to the other extreme (I don’t think there’s any way of adding partial snow coverage). The dev did also add an auto-install feature since this video was recorded but, the project seems to have been left untouched for some time now. . . Personally, I like the mod for what it is but, it’s hard to recommend at this point, since MSFS 2024 will have seasons by default anyway.
      Either way, I’m glad the video was useful! All the best : )

    The new version with the interface is a bit of a joke really , well the interface is a joke, i have had the 4 seasons a while and never been truly happy with it (latest annoyance is the terrain mask that you can see drawing itself in a small square leaving the rest unaffected ) ive disagreed with Bijan over things but it does sometimes feel he is on another planet. Now we have the new interface which at first glance seems great except for some baffling reason you have to type.. yes type the community folder directory into the interface i cant remember when i last typed something in you can usually browse for it but not only do we have such an archaic way of entering it, it wont even remember it, if you close and reopen the interface you have to type it again.... well that got deleted pretty fast but with all the bonkersness of Bijan seasons i may just go for Rex instead

      Thanks for the feedback Jenny. I am planning on updating this video at some point, to account for V7. I’ll keep an eye out for the points you raise, it does sound a bit “quirky” haha. Maybe it’s a feature - a little bit of “retro” UI functionality : P
      I think I noticed the same terrain masking issues you’re referring to. I wondered what that was. . . I shall have to investigate further. In fairness to Bijan on that one, it is still an experimental feature, as such I won’t feel too aggrieved if it has teething troubles every now and then (though it is the biggest pro of his product vs REX of course).

    Good review but you missed a key feature of REX AccuSeasons add-on though. The dynamic mode displays the correct season vegetation for the given time and location. You could fly from the south of the equator to the north and see the seasonal changes. With Bijan Habashi mod it replaces textures before flying so you have the same season everywhere. However, I agree the Bijan Habashi - 4 Season Pack looks more realistic and the terrain masking makes this mod for me.

    • @MojaveHigh
      @MojaveHigh 3 года назад +3

      Actually, Bijan's doesn't have the same season everywhere - it has Fall in the northern hemisphere when it is Spring in the southern hemisphere, etc. And if you fly between the two, it changes to the opposite season as appropriate, although right along the equator, I believe is has a tropical "season".

      Hi Busted Buddha,
      For what it’s worth, I can absolutely assure you I haven’t done anything of the sort. In fact, pretty much the only comments that I ever delete on this channel, are the ones created by spambots etc. I’m all for free speech and I have no vested interest in supporting this product or indeed any other. Of course I have my opinions, but others are just as entitled to theirs. I always try my best to give an objective an honest account of a product, whether the product has been gifted by the dev or not.
      RUclips on the other hand, seems to delete an awful lot of comments before I ever get to even see them. The primary reason for that seems to be if the comment contains any links to external websites (I don’t know whether you included a link in your comment?), but bad language and some specific words also seem to trigger automatic deletion - sometimes comments even get deleted for no obvious reason whatsoever. I don’t like it in the slightest (sometimes people are just trying to post helpful links), but there’s nothing I can do about it. . .
      In this particular case, as I mentioned during the outro, the product was actually purchased for me by a viewer, so it was completely free of any association with Bijan himself and indeed, I’ve never had any correspondence with the chap until yesterday (when he posted a couple of comments on the video).
      I’ll be sorry to see you go, but it is of course your choice as to whether you stay subbed. As for reporting the channel for anything, that would be unfair, since no paid promotion has taken place.
      Feel free to post your comments again, try to avoid using any links, bad language etc and they should be ok - you can say what you like about the product - I would like people to get a well-rounded sense of it.
      All the best, Into the Blue
      PS There are other comments still in this thread, which mention performance issues on the Xbox, but then again this one got automatically deleted by RUclips; “The 2 season version of this really slowed my framerate on Xbox”. No links, no bad language etc, go figure. . .

    • @CaptVirtual

      It is most likely comment sorting. RUclips set it to Top Comments by default. This eliminates many comments from view.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 года назад

      There’s certainly a bit of that goes on sometimes as well CV - but I know when a comment has been deleted, as I get a notification for it on my RUclips app (and this shows the opening sentence of the message), but then when I come to open the message it says “Comment Deleted”. There’s no way of knowing whether the poster themselves or RUclips deleted the comment, but most of the time I suspect it’s the latter. Anything with a link generally gets deleted, but often there doesn’t seem to be too much rhyme or reason to how the system works. . .
      Cheers!
