“New York is the ultimate office and everywhere else is vacation” wow this is so accurate. Moving to FL has been such a hard adjustment because in the back of my mind it feels like I’m always on vacation and I miss the work ethic, inspiration and creativity I had in NYC!!

People! Living in NYC is expensive but it doesn't have to be! The hardest part is getting a place to stay after that if you live on a budget that you can afford you will be just fine. No eating out, buy the essentials, and don't give up.

NY being the ultimate office and everything else feeling like vacation is so true. I do feel like everyday in NYC is work or working on something. In the future I would like to live somewhere else and make NYC my vacation spot.
Also everywhere else does seem so much more affordable than NYC. It can be tiring to maintain that.
Lastly every place else does seem a little more down tempo which is a good and bad thing.

I love the way you show this city! I feel like recently, everyone has been dumping on NYC with all of the increasing crimes and negatives about living here etc. But after visiting this city many times throughout the years and finally living here for almost a full year now, every time I actually get out of the house and explore and do what I came here for, I'm reminded of why this place is so beautiful... even the "Ugly" parts/aspects have a certain beauty to them in a way. This city itself is a Main Character, and when I say city, I mean ALL of the Boroughs.

Love your videos, well you guys can always drive to the beach. Here in Canada, Ontario Niagara region we don't have that pleasure. I'm not complaining beacuse I love all the seasons...but it would be nice if you can just drive few hours and be at the beach...cheers, keep making cool videos,

New York is definitely somewhere I wanna visit, but I'm not sure I could live there. I used to look at New York from New Jersey when I was younger and I've always wanted to visit! Your vids have shown me so many awesome things about this city! Hope I run into you when I finally visit lol

I will sometimes go to New York for work purpose but I am living in Madrid for now and I wouldn´t change. New York is too much sometimes and over expensive despite I love this city

Hi Brett, We are now in NYC but we don’t feel safe here. You don’t mention it in your video. So far we haven’t personally met anyone who would threaten us yet, but there is many people who are on serious drugs or out of reality. You don’t know what to expect from them. But on the other side New York is beautiful, so much historical buildings. Cool places, Central park is unbelievable huge and best park ever. But it’s really expensive on food. We are from Switzerland which is also expensive country(as you well know) but salary is higher than NYC. Almost everyone in subway feels depresed and in a bad mood. But on the other hand you will also meet people here who can compliment your appearance this i haven’t seen in Europe. If you have until Friday time for small talk somewhere in NY. We would be happy to meet you.
visiting and living in NYC are two different things. Being scared is a personal issue and a weakness. Every City has its bad and good.
It would be hard coming from Switzerland where there is no diversity of culture -70% white - so your point of view is skewed
Hey Bret, awesome video. Can you advice which is that one budget friendly place to visit in USA for a first time visitor?
Ooh, this is what I'm trying to show. Really, just about anywhere if you're willing to invest the time, but I would recommend Utah for nature or south Louisiana (my home region) for culture. Just be aware that the cheaper regions usually either have a lot of crime or some cultural weirdness you'd need to get past if you're not from the U.S.

I lived in Manhattan (East Village) for two years during the mid 1990s. Rents were exorbitant back then (I know, it's worse now) and decent jobs were highly, highly competitive; scores of great applicants for a single position. It was a fun city, but I'm glad I'm in the Midwest now. I just wasn't smart enough or good enough to make it in Manhattan, I readily admit that. I tried hard though. Acceptance.

Did you forget to mention that after 8 pm the city is a dump, also the cost of living is 2-3x more expensive then anywhere else, besides LA, which happens to be the homeless capitol of the world lol

I live in NYC with a car. It's expensive and a pain, but certain things make it worth it to me. The strategy that's worked for me is to get a "cheap" monthly garage spot that you'll have easy access to. That way you'll never have to cruise for 30min looking for parallel parking 🤮
