All opinions and products I used are my own. I purchased this second hand and wanted to share how I was able to deep clean the Halo Swivel Bassinest. Prior to washing it was in decent condition (no moldy spots). This is the Halo swivel bassinest that was made in 2017. I knew the year because of the sticker that was on the inside (after removing all fabric).
Products I used to sanitize and clean the fabric: Hand vacuum any loose debris or dust. Then a steamer was used to steam all fabric, including the mattress. After the steam process, I washed the fabric by hand in 3 washes. Using vinegar and warm water solution, pyrex and warm water, then baby detergent and warm water. The mattress can’t be washed, only wiped down (according to Halo website). I was very gentle with the fabric while hand washing and ringing out the excess water. Air dry the fabric and when everything was dried, I put the fabric back on the bassinest. I also left the mattress out in my living room so it could air out. I wouldn’t suggest delicate cycle in machine.
    Level of difficulty: Moderate
Tips that helped me: Take my time and be very gentle. Handwash fabric, no machine wash or delicate cycle. When assembling and removing fabric and side bars, always make sure both sides are balance or inlined with each side.
Step 1: Hand vacuum any loose debris or dust and remove mattress.
Step 2: At the inside of the bassinest, open the slit that has the Velcro.
Step 3: Using a screw driver, unscrew 6 of the screws halfway out and remove from base.
Step 4: Remove front and back bars. I used a screwdriver to help me press down the tabs at the front and back bars.
Step 5: Remove both side panels by pressing down on tabs.
Step 6: Unscrew the 3 screws at the middle base connector. Kept my screws in a place that I would not lose them!
Step 7: The 6 screws are still attached to the board. Remove sleeve by lining up the side panel, and carefully pull back and slide one side of the sleeve.
Step 8: Once fabric is removed. I hand washed the fabric (see “Products I used to sanitize and clean the fabric”).
    Assemble back together…
Rewind what you did to remove the fabric.
Step 9: Lay fabric flat on ground. Insert board back into fabric with sticker facing up. I like to say it’s like putting on a coat, start with one side and then finish the other side. Also, line up the fabric with the side panels just as it was done in Step 7.
Step 10: Screw 3 screws back and insert the other 6 screws. The fabric needs to lined up with the holes.
Step 11: Line up the base and attached to the 6 screws. Make sure it is locked in.
Step 12: Screw 6 screws. Do not make screws too tight or too loose.
Step 13: Base should be secured and able to put back onto to stand.
Step 14: The Slit’s velcro should be put back into place. To ensure the fabric is assembled the right way, the Halo Bassinest logo should be facing you.
Step 15: Insert side panels and side bars. Side bars were difficult for me to put back so again, I used a screw driver to help press down the tabs. Put remaining velcro parts together.

Thanks so much for this. A great way to spruce up a secondhand find. I put mine in the delicate cycle to wash and then air dried it. The netting did catch a bit on the velcro, so make sure you attach your velcro before washing, if you're reading this!

Thank you SOOO much!! This was wildly helpful!! I’d say my only “issue” was in reassembling I had trouble getting the small round piece with the three screws put in after already wrapping the fabric around the wooden bassinet base, so I took it off and screwed in the small round piece first (I needed to get my hand under the fabric to guide screws to the holes) and then wrapped it all the way around!!
Also a tip for anyone interested: I got mine second hand from a friend and it was stained a bit of an orange color - but I knew where it was from so wasn’t concerned with it being gross - however, soaking/scrubbing with 1/4c hydrogen peroxide mixed with 1/2c dish soap and then letting it dry in the sun after thoroughly rinsing got out all the discoloration and it looks brand new!!
Thanks so much for this video!!

I would honestly Machine wash cold, gentle cycle (only use warm or hot if it's heavily soiled!) Then I would just hang dry to protect from wear and tear. It only takes an hour or so to hang dry, even though it is currently chilly where I live.

My first daughter was a refluxy baby, so when I brought my halo out of storage for baby #2 it was covered in yellowed stains from spit up. Your instructions were super helpful to take it apart. I washed in warm water in the washing machine with tide and oxy clean and let air dry. Then reassembled and let it sit in the sun for a few hours to brighten it back up again. Looks like new!! Thanks!

Thank you so much! Video was super helpful. Lining up the 3 piece are not bad you just have to make sure the cardboard base is lined up the right way. I stuck toothpicks in the cloth and holes to make sure it was lined up when I placed the 3 piece then removed them one by one as I screwed it in place. Attaching the big swivel part was definitely harder it took me a few tries but once it was aligned it was a lot easier to put into place. One thing I also found easier was when attating rods A-A and D-D for example making sure they both are in their holes at the same time made it quick to snap them in place versus doing one side at a time. I hope this helps someone else. I noticed in the comment section lots of people struggling. I washed mine with Dreft baby detergent in cold water on delicate in the washing machine. I made sure to let it soak for about 20 mins to remove any odors but thankfully mine was like new, no stains, it just had like a household food odor from the people I purchase it second hand from. So happy I came across your video. I lysoled the mattress and let it air out but I think I’m still going to purchase the dreamweave replacement mattress and the snuggle me newborn insert. I really want my baby to like this bassinet 😭. considering I only paid $40 for it and even with purchasing the accessories I’ve still spent less than if I would have purchased it new. What made me comfortable was knowing i could take it apart and wash it.

This was very helpful!! I cleaned mine following your instructions and adding a few things and it looks like new!!. Mine (also a used one) had a very bad brown stain around the base, so I had to use a bit of OxiClean spray to remove it with a toothbrush, as well as vinegar mixed with pure baking soda and warm water. I then put in the washer with a bit of baby soap in delicate, cold cycle and air dry it. Thank you for the video and congrats for your baby!! :)

Guys, you can use a washer machine on a cold, gentle cycle. If your washer is notorious for being rough on clothing, then see if you can try to use a friend's washer or laundromat. I wouldn’t use hot water unless it's very soiled, with bodily fluids or something. Then allow to hang dry. It doesn't take long. 1-2 hrs tops, and my apartment is chilly right now. For stubborn stains, hang dry in the sun, and the sun will bleach the stain out naturally.

Okay just did this. Tip: when you go to reinsert the side bars don't click in the big plastic side pieces into the bottom of the bassinet. After 30 min I un did it all in frustration. Came back and tried again and the side bars went in easily and the big plastic pieces easily popped in on the bottom.

KS I noticed a funny smell for the pad so I left it out in the living room to air dry for like 3 weeks and the smell isnt too bad anymore.
