    I really appreciate the auto-listen/solo functions that lets you hear exactly the parts you're tweaking as you tweak them. I think the AMEK 200 EQ/console strip were the first plugins I have played with that had that feature. Would love to see this implemented more often in more plugins. Not that plugins haven't had 'solo' buttons before you can manually toggle, but I like how live it feels with the auto-transition, like zooming in with a magnifying glass on the area you're sculpting.

    I have v2 and I also have BX True Peak Limiter. Can I ask:
    * What are the key improvements in v3 over v2
    * If I was to use v2 along with True Peak Limiter, would I not get all the same functionality (and more) as the v3?
    At this upgrade price I'll probably buy it regardless but just trying to understand if this could fully replace both v2 and True Peak Limiter on my master bus. Tend to agree with others about this 'new look' interface - it feels like someone put a piece of rubber balloon over the knobs and buttons. Experts stress that a hardware lookalike GUI has no proper place in plugins but I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets a 'lift' from seeing a GUI that looks like it could exist in hardware form.

    • @PluginAllianceTV
      @PluginAllianceTV  2 месяца назад +1

      One of the bx_XL V3's main functions is to maximize loudness. As a result, loudness matching the audio examples would fail to demonstrate one of it's most notable capabilities.

    • @jaroplichta
      @jaroplichta 2 месяца назад +3

      @@PluginAllianceTV The main role of all limiters is to increase the volume and stabilize the peaks. But also to keep an ear out for artifacts and unwanted distortion. If you don't compensate for volume you'll easily make the mistake of fooling yourself that something is prettier because it's louder. If you haven't compensated for volume, then this video has no weight to me. I can't hear what the limiter is actually doing. When does the limiter start to destroy the sound, whether it's at -3.6dB GR or deeper.

    • @user-bo8ex4ji7n
      @user-bo8ex4ji7n Месяц назад

      @@PluginAllianceTV this is an embarrassing response. How else are we supposed to catch whether or not the limiter is destroying/smearing our transients because we are pushing it too hard? The purpose of ALL LIMITERS is to maximize loudness, yet many include loudness compensated bypass in 2024... Have your devs wondered why that is? Have they ever made music or tried to A/B a few limiters on the same song to figure out which to use? Anyone can turn a track up - REAL users know that they are maximizing their song to -9 or even -6 LUFS even though they will be normalized back down to -14 LUFS on most major streaming services. We need to be able to hear if we are destroying our dynamics by pushing the limiter too hard as these issues will be WAY more evident when the song is normalized back down after release.
      With a history as rich as your own, why do you need your customers to spell this out for you? Please be sure to poke your heads up from time to time and look at the competition - there are some incredible plugins out there right now and your subscribers want you to learn what makes them incredible and stay ahead of them.

    where would you put a clipper in chain - before this or after and then another limiter?

    • @PluginAllianceTV
      @PluginAllianceTV  28 дней назад +1

      You can place a clipper before or after your limiter. If you place it after your limiter, you'll set the ceiling within the clipper so there's no need for a second limiter after the clipper.

    Apart from TP and the new GUI what are the improvements?
    Edit: Just done a demo, sounds really good and clear, and has a new Modern/Classic limiter style at the end. The XL sounds very decent too. Not sure if much has happened under the hood though apart from oversampling the saturation, although it does sound a bit different.

    But aren’t you changing the whole mix balance when limiting split bands? And like -9 dB LUFS ST isn’t that loud...

    • @PluginAllianceTV
      @PluginAllianceTV  2 месяца назад +2

      Two methods of limiting are described in the video. One preserves the balance of the original mix, while the other is primarily focused on maximizing loudness. Depending on the song, you can push your mix harder. For example, you may want to push an EDM track toward -6 to -3 LUFS. At that point, the clarity of your mix will likely start to degrade, but it's a choice. We chose to go with a balanced blend of loudness and clarity for this demonstration.
