Bought the Townhouse compressor the other day when it was on sale because it was the best SSL bus comp clone I heard without paying for the diminishing returns of a Stam or something.
@@BlackGhostAudio Yeah, I totally get that. That was one of the main reasons I went for it in truth; I found the others were a bit too 'polite' in comparison.
Recently got rid my of UAD system and I'm looking to replace some plugins with PA alternatives. I definitely want the Bax EQ and Bx_saturator v2 back. The only other plugin I really miss is the La2a with its smooth sound and simplicity. Any recommendations that might provide an alternative to UAD's La2A?
The townhouse has a bit more of a dirty sound, and a little more character than the SSL G comp. I typically use the Townhouse as a bus compressor for drums and gritty synths, while I use the SSL G comp for vocals and mastering purposes. For more aggressive tracks, I’ll use the Townhouse as a stereo bus compressor.
I work for Plugin Alliance now so I might be a bit biased. Generally speaking, it’s hard to define “better”. From an audio quality perspective, modeling technology has come a long way so many of these new emulations sound almost indistinguishable from their hardware counterparts. Take a look at the “bonus” features these devices provide, like PA’s TMT. If one device provides more features than another, like a sidechain circuit with a high-pass filter as opposed to no sidechain circuit at all, that’s what I would use as the deciding factor.
i'm waiting for a price drop on BAX eq i had the UAD version and i love the subtle effect it has on a mix without creating any phase shifts. Already picked up the elysia alpha when it was on discount. Would you recommend the townhouse as a replacement for the UAD ssl G/4K? I used it mostly on drum and mix busses.
The Townhouse sounds a bit dirtier than the SSL G bus comp. It still has the snappy character of an SSL style compressor, but with more warmth. The Townhouse sounds awesome on drums and I’ll use it on full mixes from time to time as well. Download the demo and compare the two. The difference should be quite noticeable.
Hello there. I find your video very informative and well made, thank you. But i would like to ask you, to please help me with my question which i am going to ask you. Are there any Computer application that i can separate each sound within a music file?. What i mean for example.... i have one of the star wars movie songs, and i want to separate each item sound, like the trumpets, then the drums, then the violins, then the flutes sound.... is there any applications? or plugins?, or any other source which i can use to do this using my PC?. Thank you for your time.
The closest thing I can think of is Regroover by Accusonus. It's designed to extract stems from audio loops. Check out the demo and see if it works for what you're trying to do! accusonus.com/products/regroover
Hey! Just a few thoughts: Instead of the Blackbox HG you should try the Kelvin Saturation from Toneprojects which sounds a lot more natural. And instead of the VSC-2 Compressor you should hear the VSC-3 plugin from Vertigo themselves as well as the VSM-4 from them. These are by far more better sounding (Indeed like Hardware) than their PluginAlliance equivalents. Yours Sincerely Wolfgang
My man I like the breakdown those are some great choices for sure! A couple other cool ones I have with those are millenia NSEQ , ShadowHills and that SPL vitalizer 👌🏾I'm sure you know about these though.
These are some excellent additions. The Shadow Hills mastering compressor is an absolute classic. SPL Iron is another great selection from SPL that people may want to check out as well.
Brainworks BX_Delay 2500 is also another solid delay, does absolutely everything I want and need easily and simply, but then with added ducker / modulation / distortion and more! A really good choice as your "best delay unit" etc
bought an ADSL plugin-IA LA1 and found out that it doesn't work on Protools-granted it did say it wasn't on its systems requirements but since it said ir worked on Mac I assumed it was protools compatible-I mean Protools is the industry standard. They won't return my money So beware of ADSL -besides that have a very complicated system of registering
One of the plugins should be used on the audio on this video... and reduce/limit/compress the +128db ( apparently ) loudness compared to the video from Moog Official RUclips channel.... ( they can't be crazy , they're Moog ).
The audio in this video has actually been compressed quite heavily through an EL8 Distressor and limited into a -1 dB ceiling to avoid distortion during the audio transcoding process when uploaded to RUclips. If it were compressed any further, there would be a loss in intelligibility and possibly the introduction of distortion. In general, audio that's been heavily compressed like this will playback well on handheld devices in environments with a loud noise floor. Loudness is expressed using an LUFS value, as opposed to a decibel value so I can't comment too heavily on the difference between the audio here and on Moog's channel. I'm sure their audio is top-notch though. In my personal opinion, if you can clearly hear everything being said in a RUclips video, and the audio quality doesn't interfere with the information being delivered, there's not much to worry about :)
This format works too though. Your video would be twice as long with demos. This was concise and to the point. If I want to demo any particular plugin I can go to PA's website. Maybe have two versions of the video, with and without? Just spit-ballin'.

Shadow hills compressor A, TE-100, Diezel H4, focusrite console, Purple MC77, Opticom XLA 3, Elysia nvelope, Spl Iron, Elysia Phil’s Cascade, SSL 9000 J.
I bought the entire bundle a year ago. Learning that many plugins is taking me some time but def alot of fun.
The bx Pan EQ, and the SPL Iron are pretty nifty too.
The mixing and mastering bundle is a great deal. That's what I'm subbed to. You can't beat brainworx

It’s got a bit of a dirty tone, but still has that SSL flavour. Love the Townhouse ❤️

Haha, that’s a great way to describe it 😂
Does the bx_digital V3 has something that an EQ like the fabfilter ProQ3 doesn't?

Give the ACME Audio Opticom XLA-3 a try. It’s an optical compressor that is meant to deliver LA-2A style leveling!
@@BlackGhostAudio thanks appreciate the feedback.
Just incase you didn't know BX makes many UAD plugins. Not only are they made by BX anyway but the BX versions are cheaper and have more features!
great stuff! Thanks.
How is ghe town house in comparison to waves SSL G comp??

Just joined plugin alliance! Excited to try these! Thanks man!
I'm trying to decide on either the black box or SPL tube..

Great Review of these plugins. Thank for the detailed explanation of these plugins
Purple MC77, Maag EQ4, Metric AB, Opticom XLA-3, Millenia NSEQ-2.
spot on! all on sale rn :)
On point. I got about 6 or 7 of 'em.
Killer breakdown, man!

So I recently bought the VSC-2 for 10 dollars, and even though the VSC-3 from vertigo sounds better, you think that the VCS-2 was a solid purchase?
Amazing video 👍🏼
Thanks for checking it out Ullie! I’m happy you found it helpful 😁

Then just use Bluecat's patchwork and all VST2 and VST3 will work on ProTools.

Black Ghost Audio ...true....why I said Moog.. I switched from their channel to yours and almost went deaf ! Enjoy.
Haha, sorry about that. I’ve actually laid off the compression a bit in recent videos 😁
Cool 🔥🔥🔥
This is the best Braniworx plugin
Thank you!
The legend himself. Thanks for stopping by the channel!
There are so many good PA plugins...you forgot these: API 2500, DSM V3, Shadow Hills Class A, SSL E/G/J consoles, console N, SPL Iron
API 2500? AFAIK they dont have a 2500 plugin
@@Bonzvy I think they have an API EQ coming out later this year, but no comp that I'm aware of. Would be cool though.
Yes, Waves really has some legends like API, Rbass, MV2, Tapdelay and SSL 4000 e etc. , I agree ! Never heard of the rest, though...
All talking and no sound examples...
reviews with audio samples.... mehhhh.... pass.
