Mihawk would be in everyone’s top 3 if he was described as character of the past: - had the strongest blade in verse - one of 2 in history to create a black blade - was the rival of the future emperor Shanks until Shanks lost his arm - survived in the new world alone and showed no injuries - was known as Hawk-eye - Had the undisputed title “World’s Strongest Swordsman” during the greatest pirate era. Everything here is factual to the manga. I got Shanks insanely high on my list of strongest characters but his cool portrayal doesn’t wipe away the obvious narrative Mihawk has and the fact that Oda consistently hypes Mihawk to Shanks level or above despite him having a clear favouritism to Shanks against pretty much every character in verse.
This is why I tell people Black Beard is stronger than Shanks and Mihawk in the present. All the battles prime Shanks had with Mihawk was equal and they never managed to scar each other. Black Beard undisputed beat Shanks and scarred him for life.
@@ghost4thaghost941 bro read again. Narrative says so. Shanks is afraid of BB who scarred his face and Mihawk dueled shanks and came out as the WSS its not that complicated
Ryuuma was the deterrent for outsiders in Wano, the reason why the government didn't dare to ever land there after they were chased out by him, so he's at the very least even to whatever the WG/Marines had at the time be it admirals or someone else, putting him ahead of Oden in my perception, could be the case where a lot of other beastly samurai lived there at the time and he was undisputably the very best, forged his own black blade, and is also known as the "God of the blade" a cool moniker if nothing else. Mihawk is a worldwide unanimity, dude is THE "WSS" in the verse (I'll elaborate my opinion on the matter below), also forged his black blade and is open to everyone of the planet to try and best him, no one wants to except Zoro...apparently, got famous because the armed branch of the government, the marines couldn't handle him, also meaning, like Ryuuma, he's at the very least even to whatever the WG/Marines have at this moment, but the thing is, in OP there's a cap level and I believe both reached their lvl 99, so it can go both sides, equal imo, because there's nothing that suggest one was built different over the other, people like Kaido, Linlin or Lunarians for example, both are/were just "regular" humans from what was exposed until now. The World's Strongest Swordsman debate: Chapter 1023 imo is instrumental to finally end this once and for all to understand what Oda means by "swordsman", in this chapter, Zoro attacks King, who activates a mechanic in his sword to take Zoro's Katana from him and goes for a spiked punch to the head, Zoro blocks and exclaims he understands him now as a "bloodthirsty brute" (an "assassin" as you will), to what King replies he doesn't understand why stick to forms and technique in a real battle (pretty much ditching sword styles and such because the objective is to murder the opponent using whatever it takes), and to seal the deal Zoro responds: " yeah, you never claimed to be a swordsman after all"; A swordman to Oda is someone who sticks to a swordstyle using near exclusively a sword to fight, Mihawk IS the World's Strongest Swordsman because he's the very best filling these criteria, does it make him better than Shanks automatically? Not exactly, I believe both follow the Mugen/Jin (Samurai Champloo) dynamic, Jin IS the better swordman, Mugen makes up for it using his whole body, enviroment and general unprecictability at his favor, Mihawk is Jin to Shanks' Mugen, Shanks for me doesn't stick to a swordstlyle or strictly his trusty blade to fight, Mihawk on the other hand does, and in both series I fully believe they are still equal, 100% relative to each other

Yeah, because you can't read and you have 0 common sense. Mihawk was introduced saying a true swordsman uses his swords gracefully and that he doesn't go all out on every opponent. So knowing this AND literally seeing that Mihawk was sending attacks weak enough for Mr. 1 to block PLUS knowing that Mihawk wanted to see how many people would jump in to defend Luffy, in what world does it make ANY sense for him to try one-shot Vista there? I've never seen a sensible Mihawk downplayer. Y'all legit have the worst comprehension in the fanbase and constantly ignore his characterization.
Mihawk knew right from the get go that Luffy is different...he kinda breaks the 4th wall with his insight on Luffy..with his inner monologue...the way he is written tells you that he is no fraud..and the strongest guys get the best "feat panels" the later the manga goes on...with the power creep. If you think that when we finally get a full mihawk named attack panel...in 2025 its gonna be a base haki attack? cmon stop the cap
Several fallacies keep being brought up. The only title that explicitly and definitely relates to superior power is Mihawk's. We've seen the average swordsman's power of the land of wano, an know it's no where near impressive. To the samurai of wano, Zoro using Asura would make them think he's a God, and this is supported as he left with the "King of Hell" title, which is damn near calling him a God. Yet we know he isn't stronger than Mihawk. Yall stay bringing up the Vista situation, but yall fail to remember that Mihawk was like Ryuma in his past. Mihawk is PAST the point in his life where he wantonly fights random people regardless of their power or skill. Mihawk used the be called the Marine hunter. Can you imagine how untouchable you'd have to be to brazenly hunt the domineering force of the entire world. Even yonko crews try to avoid an all out war with the navy and here you have Mihawk doing it with no crew. While ryuma kept acting like a child and fought no matter what, mihawk grew up and realized it was a waste of time. It's like being mad that Mayweather doesn't just fight any and all rookie boxers. Ryuma's greatest feat is killing the dragon which is at best, a feat between the dragon zoro decapitated and weaker than killing kaido. Both of which are practically current Zoro level which is still less than mihawk. Yall really fail to realize how crazy of a feat mihawk casually sending a long range internal destruction infused emission if armament haki to slice the frozen tidal wave. That sword feat has been unsurpassed by ANYTHING seen in the series so far
Hey KOL, thanks for reading my comment on twitter. I made the parallel to Joyboy with Ryuma similarly to how you said Ryuma is the progenesis of Zoro. I was thinking Joyboy is also the progenesis of Luffy. I was never trying to say Ryuma = Joyboy that would be crazy, but in terms of portrayal, they are both described as gods.
I really like the idea of a character having a legacy of being unsurpassable, when we have such a strong character and little content about him we imagine how incredible he must be in practice. I think this is awesome, although I wish there was more content about it...
Greatest Swords"MAN" vs Sword "GOD". Ryuma got this. If I'm not wrong, I think Ryuma is the only reason why Wano (and their samurais) were feared throughout the history of OP.
So I think the fact that Wano has a majority of people who are able to wield the sword and use it properly makes them fearsome. Clearly, Ryuma would be the face of it all but I still think there was probably a face for every generation in Wano. So probably a strong person before and after ryuma. Oden is a good example. Sengoku and Akainu knew him by name. If fujitora was from Wano, that could explain a lot. Another thing to add to it, the swords themselves. They were master sword smiths and took pride in that. A basic sword from Wano is probably better than a basic sword from, say, Logue Town.
We can’t epithet scale. Otherwise Zoro is a literal King of Hell and Usopp is a god by that logic as well. And it would be kinda lame for the story to have Zoro beat Mihawk, to only end up being the second best swordsman to have ever lived in the series.
My issue with this topic is Ryuma sword style is how Zoro grew up with. Then Zoro also trained under Mihawk. Zoro will obviously beat Mihawk at the end but having to combine both styles to surpass both Ryuma and Mihawk skill levels.
For this fight to happen in a story sense, Ryuma would have to be sent to the future by Toki's Time-Time Fruit (she's been jumping forward several times before meeting Oden) so that he would encounter Mihawk and duel with him.
No, we're basically being told that Zoro by the end of the manga will pretty much be what Ryuma was, if not stronger. That means that we don't literally need to have Ryuma time travel, but to just be given a hint when Zoro's power is comparable to Ryuma's, which hasn't happened yet.
I would personally say Mihawk is being particularly glazed more now ever since the anime adaption of the S hawk fight. If there was a Ryuma seraphim this wouldn't even be a competition
16:19 what dragon did he take down though? it could have been a previous azure dragon wielder, also keep in mind that hyogoro has said that advanced armament haki (ryuo) was common practice in wano (that was before orochi banned dojos). samurai are probably the strongest fodder around which just upscales ryuma and the samurai of his time that were even more battle hardened.
So ryuma defending against the elders is a feat somehow? So chopper franky nami KUMA Are now sword god lvl Amazing Or in reality It was always difficult to Reach wano and Ryuma got carried by the natural defenses And had the skill and power to defeat Cp9 lvl bums Thats cool But its nothing Even if ryuma Did defend against The elders Im looking at CHOPPER NAMI FRANKY And KUMA
Comparing ryuma to zoro feels disingenuous seeing as how mihawk is not only zoro's rival and ideal but also literally has trained zoro and taught him haki
It's just a matter of time that we have confirmation that Gryphon is also a supreme grade blade, you don't rival the greatest swordsman who have better sword skills and wields a black blade without having a supreme grade blade at the very least
I go with Ryuma just because some people can't seem to get it through their skulls that being the strongest with a sword doesn't make you the most powerful fighter overall.
I'll use shanks as a method for gauging mihawk, and if shanks was anywhere near as comparable to as he is now back then, then it'll be hard to sway me to ryuma's side
The problem with the Vista and Mihawk situation is that people forget Mihawk was chasing Luffy. If Oda hadn’t made Vista stop Mihawk, Mihawk was probably going to kill Luffy. Therefore, it’s more of a narrative decision rather than a matter of power scaling.

Vivre card states vista has swordsmanship skill that rivals mihawks. You have three options 1. Vista strength rivals shanks/ryuma making vista high yonko level 2. Mihawk is 5th commander level since Vista negated and fended him low diff in marfineford and databook states his sword skills rivals mihawks 3. You have to admit that just because someone has better swordsmanship doesn't automatically make them stronger which is the only argument you have for mihawk > shanks
So before watching video. Superior Black Blade the 12 supreme grade blades>21 Great grade blades. Superior Haki the road to laughtale mentions wb naginata as be extraordinary durable. Ths durability was needed to channel his full power. This is a weapon that is not black permanently so put two and two together Mihawk needed a supreme grade weapon known for its durability but then he make it black which further boost its durability and also cutting power. Mihawk clears.
@@Sephiroso. lol if you consider that Mihawk struggling then I’m sure what I say next won’t even matter to you. He was quite literally still focused on luffy and having inner monologue about him. That was no struggle
1.sword god title means nothing. Enel was known as god in a closed off country (skypiea) and that clearly didn’t mean nothing. So nothing changes when it comes to another closed off country (wano) calling someone strong “god” 2.Mihawk doesn’t do much NOW. Mihawk is 43 years old we know he was already famous all the way back when he was 19. So between then and the last time we know he was fighting someone was when shanks lost his arm 10 years before the story. So with all that Mihawk has ATLEAST 12 years of non stop fighting in an extremely chaotic era. Alsmot guranteed alot longer than that
Are we all just forgetting 5hat ryuma was not known worldwide. He was only considered the God of sword by the people of Wano whereas mihawk is considered the greatest by every swordsman in the world. Ryumas best feats is him turning his blade black and killing a dragon. Mihawk has a black blade and we've seen Zoro kill a dragon in punk hazard. Also a casual swing from mihawk was able to cleanly slice an entire iceberg. I'm pretty sure mihawk would be able to kill a dragon.
Why do ppl state his blade was already supreme before making it black when that isn’t stated anywhere? We know that blackening blade raises its level, so if he blackened a supreme grade blade it would be considered something superior to supreme and not counted among them.
Mihawk probably went crazy and lost himself while he kept striving for the top, not in swordsmanship but in general. Hes probably actually lost his mind to his blade, like someone who eats 2 devil fruits and gains 2 wills, and he thought hes wasnt the strongest already until met his rival. And if your rival (Someone who doesnt need to be strong as you, but just your competition in something) is no longer even in the race for it anymore then they are left alone at the top.
Oda states that Mihawk is a living legend Oda states that Ryuma is a Sword God Doesn’t matter because Zoro will surpass them both ( and don’t let this distract you from the fact that EOS Zoro will be stronger then Shanks )
Ryuma is a bigger legend and having an inferior blade doesn’t necessarily mean you’re weaker over all. Zoro wielded a black blade and great grade quality blade for half the story before he was even commander level.

He is calculative, precise and wants to find amusement when he fights. When he encounter Vista, the latter peak his interest and he immediately wanted to see his swordsmanship. As stated before he don't always go all out in the beginning, as for Jozu the breath of all things explains it. There are a number of videos explaining the type of character Mihawk is suggest you go and watch them. Sincere, general question. How can we discuss anything about Ryuma when we know nothing about him? He gets mentioned but we know nothing. Just like Dragon battle wise
Ryuma i think definitely has conquers haki if he had a black blade which we know he did so i dont see him being weaker than Mihawk because he would be the first person in history to ever have a black blade. I think people only think hes weaker than mihawk because zoro slayed a dragon as well but that doesn't mean hes the same strength using that logic vista is on mihawk level.
It goes beyond blades…what is the grade of Kaido’s weapon? And what is the grade of the weapon oden nearly murdered him with? It just might be pointing to skill…that ryuma achieved the title of sword god with a lesser blade
I think Mihawk is like Tomioka Giyū from demon slayer. He has the goods, but something feels off about him. My theory is that Rayleigh was the world strongest swordsman then passed down the title to Shanks. Then, Shanks and Mihawk fought multiple times without a clear winner. Until Shanks lost his arm and just gave the title of world strongest swordsman to Mihawk. I hope Oda reveals something about before one piece ends.
LOL hell no, mihawk was famous long before shanks was anything to speak about. This is why u need to read all the databooks/vivre cards etc before giving an opinion. Shanks was fodder when Mihawk was already WSS
They’ve made it so hard to pin down how’s strong mihawk is…he duelled shanks when he had two arms but was also younger & most likely weaker than now…oden was on course to beat kaido but kaido was younger & weaker than he is now…zoro clashed with & scarred current kaido but he was already on his last legs….shanks is clearly stronger than kaido & was clean when he turned up to marineford after stopping kaido but we don’t know if he stopped him single-handedly with no help (excuse the pun)…I’d argue mihawk is somewhere between kaido & shanks could be lower than kaido or higher it’s hard to say.
Featwise, Mihawk is barely a Yonkou Commander. Jozu so easily low diffed him, that Mihawk gave up. Fighting Vista was too scary for him His best feat is bullying Don Krieg and East Blue's Zoro. Mihawk has nothing but clout and excuses.
Ryuma was the reason that the WG couldn't take Wano. So either they tried and failed, or they didn't even try out of fear, both cases is a flex that Mihawk is nowhere near obtaining. Mihawk is great, don't get me wrong, but he is getting baby shaked by Ryuma.
Mihawk is my boy. I believe he's the strongest in all of one piece right now. But if put against Ryuma, I think Mihawk is inferior. The dude protected Wano for lots of years even after his death hahahahah
The thing about something like this is that the next swordsman to be crowned King would of had to have beaten the previous title holder meaning they are slightly ever better than their predecessor so someone beat ryuma, and someone beat that person so on and so fourth so Mihawk is better than ryuma as he is the title holder and has beaten everyone just like when zoro beats mihawk he will be better
Lets be real , the goverment was so scared of ryuma they left wano alone for 400 years and yet they sent a force to capture mihawk.. says it all really

Shiki is not that strong. His only show of strength was in a non canon movie in which luffy defeated him with no gear forth to boot
Mihawk is said to have greater swordsman skills than shanks and their battles were legendary and well known
Did you see the episode where shanks one shots kid? Shanks future sight is better or on par with katakuri, so mihawk has to be a real demon in order to counter shanks future sight.
Point I am making Is that garp true power was not shown until egg head, which is what oda is doing with mihawk.
Do you realize how much whitebeard pirates garp would have defeated if he used galaxy impact in marineford?

vista is just a rabbit to him, what benefit does he have by defeating vista? retaining his title? vista isnt even a threat to him, mihawk respects that man why would he beat him up when he cant compete with him?

all he does is testing others, not going all out... i understand being so naive and liking your own comment has become a hobby to you but have you ever decided to be human????
vista isnt even jack level, the scabbards have better haki than this non confirmed advanced armament haki fraud and they couldnt beat jack 1v1 unless sulong was necessary then we have queen shusui this shows that oden > ryuma
ryuma slayed a random dragon FROM BEHIND
oden almost slayed THE dragon, the actual top 1 of the story (not peak version but still u get the point i hope)
then we have mihawk who forged a supreme black blade the only one in the verse which has already been confirmed during baratie arc
(official manga translations)
and this feat can ONLY be accomplished via haki according to sukiyaki's dialogue thats what he precisely implied
this proves that not only ryuma vs mihawk aint close but also..

Love these types of videos. It’s crazy how much discussion can happen about One Piece.
Mihawk would be in everyone’s top 3 if he was described as character of the past:
- had the strongest blade in verse
- one of 2 in history to create a black blade
- was the rival of the future emperor Shanks until Shanks lost his arm
- survived in the new world alone and showed no injuries
- was known as Hawk-eye
- Had the undisputed title “World’s Strongest Swordsman” during the greatest pirate era.

@@afromarco005nah man you are watching one piece on yt short
Not exactly, I believe both follow the Mugen/Jin (Samurai Champloo) dynamic, Jin IS the better swordman, Mugen makes up for it using his whole body, enviroment and general unprecictability at his favor, Mihawk is Jin to Shanks' Mugen, Shanks for me doesn't stick to a swordstlyle or strictly his trusty blade to fight, Mihawk on the other hand does, and in both series I fully believe they are still equal, 100% relative to each other
And yet NO ONE has ever been able to show what other style Shanks uses to fight.

Keep up the awesome work and videos KOL love the video
U forgot what Whitebeard Said how Mihawk and Shanks had epic fights and at Marine Ford Mihawk said he wasn’t worthy to fight him from loosing his arm.
If I'm not wrong, I think Ryuma is the only reason why Wano (and their samurais) were feared throughout the history of OP.
its NOT 'Greatest' swordsmen, is 'strongest' swordsmen, thers a big diference

I just found this channel and its awesome
I was skeptical but honestly great video dude
My issue with this topic is Ryuma sword style is how Zoro grew up with. Then Zoro also trained under Mihawk.
Zoro will obviously beat Mihawk at the end but having to combine both styles to surpass both Ryuma and Mihawk skill levels.
Maybe because of Ryuma legacy wano was hyped to be a land of formidable swordsman
Ryoma’s asura only cloning his sword twice(total 3 swords,6hands, 1swordstyle)would be pretty neat
Both of them are stronger than Shanks
I would personally say Mihawk is being particularly glazed more now ever since the anime adaption of the S hawk fight.
If there was a Ryuma seraphim this wouldn't even be a competition
16:19 what dragon did he take down though? it could have been a previous azure dragon wielder, also keep in mind that hyogoro has said that advanced armament haki (ryuo) was common practice in wano (that was before orochi banned dojos). samurai are probably the strongest fodder around which just upscales ryuma and the samurai of his time that were even more battle hardened.

You have three options
1. Vista strength rivals shanks/ryuma making vista high yonko level
2. Mihawk is 5th commander level since Vista negated and fended him low diff in marfineford and databook states his sword skills rivals mihawks

Alsmot guranteed alot longer than that
I have always hoped that roger left his sword on laughtale and luffy will get rogers sword ace. Would be sick.
Realistically it’s probably a joyboy situation with Ryuma he’s portrayed to be stronger
Oda states that Mihawk is a living legend
Oda states that Ryuma is a Sword God
Doesn’t matter because Zoro will surpass them both
( and don’t let this distract you from the fact that EOS Zoro will be stronger then Shanks )
Ryuma is a bigger legend and having an inferior blade doesn’t necessarily mean you’re weaker over all. Zoro wielded a black blade and great grade quality blade for half the story before he was even commander level.
Ryuma is known as the sword god only by wano country. Mihawk is known as the world’s strongest swordsman by the entire WORLD. Nuff’ said
Zoro has already passed the feats since beating Picca, based on what Mihawk did in marineford. So, based on legend I would say Ryuma.
Question, is it wrong to assume that the dragons of the time were as durable as Kaido? If so does that put Ryoma above Mihawk?

They both became the strongest so they could chill

It could be that mihawk actually is the strongest because he made it to the top of the world even without conquerors haki. Just skill and power
Please don’t comment on Mihawk again. It’s clear you don’t have any comprehension skills.
