Skin bleaching is popular there, along with wearing make-up several shades lighter. I have light skin. When I travel to Nigeria, people are preoccupied with my skin color. She asked where I had traveled to during the previous week and I told her to insert [popular major city in Europe]. She took a pause and then asked me what it was that I did for work. LOL

honestly, if that ever happens again, you should try to get out of that car immediately! seriously. this person was behaving like a trafficker. insisting that you share private details about your life when you can't easily say no or leave is something predators do. it lowers your guard and tells them how far you can be pushed to do something you don't want to do. if you haven't already, please let Uber know and file a complaint.
