Another video that perfectly frames the topic of mental health for my clients. No extra fluff, no unnecessary side comments, just direct, evidence-based information on food and mental health. Thank you!
Good gut health and a healthy mindset has been my life path for the last 18 months! 18 months ago I was rushed to the hospital! I was bleeding internally! I had 2 openings inside my gut, and I was bleeding internally! The doctors told me it was due to stress! They repaired my tummy and after a week I went home. About a month later I was diagnosed with C Diff! I caught it from the hospital! The day l found out about the C Diff diagnosis my family Doctor, sent me to a Specialist named Dr. Tom Louis. He took care of me! After some heavy duty antibiotics,Dr Louis gave me a Fecal microbiol Transplant (FMT)! I received the FMT last February, and the main thing I've noticed is my mental health has improved greatly ✨💃✨ And I am cured from C Diff 😊 Ty for this video ❤
This is similar to the healthy soil cycle. Adding chemical stimulants that have an illusion of adding fertility to plant production, they short cut the natural cycles occurring with the bacteria and microbes. The soil becomes unproductive and reliant on additives to grow less nutritious plants. Soil needs a good cover of diverse plants and root systems exuding sugars to set up for resiliency and vitality, and to weather and outside factors. Not all systems are the same, though. I would imagine human guts have a diversity to what suits the individual's balance.
I had a gastric sleeve done 12 years ago and have trouble eating. I take supplements because I'm 63 and unwell. Supplements have saved my life! But I will add more fermented foods! Thanks Doc!
When you're in the educational space, you'll give out the right information. The moment you're in selling products space, you'll start distorting facts and exaggerating insignificant studies
As much as I understand science as a constantly developing source of knowledge, it's a bit annoying that twelve years ago I went to several doctors of all stripes with chronic GI symptoms only to be loaded up on 90mg of oxy per day (I was in my early 20's) and sent to several tests only for doctors to shrug their shoulders and say "Welp. Guess we'll just remove his gallbladder." Fast-forward a decade, I wind up with a diagnosis of autism in my early 30's, learn about this whole "gut-brain connection" thing, take a pre-/post-biotic compound, get off the opioids, get off the benzos, and oh boy do I feel different. I realize there are plenty of doctors out there who get into the profession because they genuinely want to help people, but it's awfully hard to differentiate between those and the ones who just want to get paid because they get off on cutting into people.
Perhaps the most interesting medical developments in past two decades. I know internists and geriatricians who say the gut micro biome was not thought of as important overall health when they were in residency/fellowship training Do you think psychiatry is go the same way?
I've been eating a couple of spoons of greek yogurt before meals for better gut bacteria and for my acid reflux. I'm noticing improvement in acid reflux but I'm still at week 1 so I'll definitely try and be consistent and see what results i end up with
This makes me wonder if autism and ADHD are partly influenced by gut bacteria. We know autism is in part caused by pollution, and that probably includes what's in the local water...
I didn't have to watch this one Dr👩⚕️.Marks(I'll tune in @ a later date), I am proud to say I don't eat sweets anymore & I am 90+ day without them. No more🥧🧁🍰🎂🍪🍩🍧🍦🚫🙅♂️.
Dr Marks could you do a video on the controversy surrounding psychology research lately? "Replication crisis" seems a bit alarmist, but it would be so helpful to hear your perspective, as well as a potential opportunity for a primer on how to approach scietific literature as a lay person. Thank you for all your content!!
When you say eat this and that, I would make a diary, write down what I ate everyday write down the mood and what I would be thinking about 30min to 5 hrs. later, cause everyone is different, food might work for you but, not someone else.
So what you're telling me is that when I blame my decisions on 'gut instinct' I'm actually just getting peer pressured by several trillion microorganisms? Well played, bacteria. Well played.
How do GLP1 meds affect gut? I started in early August and after a 40 lb drop in weight and diet dialed down off junk food, a marked improvement in mental health..Also that GLP1 meds slow food processing and wondering how this affects the gut biome process?
People who eat the diet you described on here have already demonstrated poor choice making. Without animal protien and fat, your mental health WILL suffer.
You're misunderstanding the video. She is not saying not to eat animal protein and fat. She is not prescribing any such diet here. She's simply saying that the foods she mentions here & the inclusion of varied vegetables are contribute to a healthy gut the most, and affect the gut-brain axis in positive ways. She never said not to eat meat, not sure how you interpreted it that way...
Also, depending on the brand, yogurt and kombucha can come with a lot of added sugars which defeat the benefits of eating something fermented. Check the label first. I eat a plain, organic yogurt as a fermented food choice and its been helpful for me.

Hello Dr. Tracey Marks, I saw your RUclips channel, your videos are very beautiful and of good quality. I found a research that Fluxoetine changes the gut microbiome and has benefits and now i wonder why i nomore feel agitated, angry, or obssesed with my hand cleaning 🧼 acts to even my hair pulling OCD actions. I also am on Metformin which also aids the gut microbiome.

Same! Gallbladder out for no reason, no change in symptoms.
Corrected it myself - but now stuck with the post-gallbladder diet

Dr. Marks, thank you for your videos. Keep up the good work.
My problem is not apathy or laziness, it is impairment of decision making.
Finding your channel has been a blessing to me! Thank you so much!!
Eat your vegetables, folks!
Vegetables don't build gut bacteria
😂😂😂
And your fruits, legumes, herbs, spices!!!
Depends on your particular microbiome. Those with mental health or auto immune issues may do better on carnivore or strict keto.
My favorite!! 😋

Howdy Tracey, ah, you need an (s) at the end of the word "control" in the title......have a nice day too!😊
Bacteria is the plural of bacterium so "control"is correct
. It is a latin word.
Hi, the “s” is not needed in this case, as “bacteria” is the plural form of the word (i.e., “bacterium controls” or “bacteria control”). 😊
I didn't find this video useful. Vegetables aren't going to help. The kefir and chia seeds idea is fair enough but vegetables aren't useful at all.
I'm curious why you felt the need to say this?

Are you a Doctor?
Humans are omnivores!
Vegetables are full of both pre- and postbiotics, not to mention fiber and essential vitamins.
