ToolkitRC has a new LiPo charger and it’s a 3S beast! ToolkitRC M8D boasts 800W output with 30A per channel. That gives 1600W in total. And of course, it can charge up to 8S. Plus, big, adjustable LCD has now a brand new user interface and touch functionality. Let’s see how it looks and how it should be used, because comparing to other chargers, there were some changes.

same background on my phone :) maybe same phone ^^
Multiplex 'BID' charger adds a small i2c eeprom to each battery storing the parameters (cell-type, cell-count, low- and high-voltage per cell, an amp for charging/discharging, charging count, day of first use, even plus/minus 0,01 to 0,03 v to adjust min-/max-voltage for cell-type). The chargers use information in this eeprom for charging/discarging.

Looks like an interesting upgrade of the M9. I was considering getting that, but got the HOTA F6 instead (and sort of regretted that ever since as the interface is a pig / laggy to use). The M9 audio prompts could be customised, so you may be able to delete the audio prompts you don't want to get on the M8D... alternately, it seems like the there are individual volumes for operation, warning and broadcast - broadcast most likely being the voice prompts given the language used the describe the M9 voice capabilities. It's nice to see touch in conjunction with hard keys... gives the best of both worlds... but the UI could certainly be better... I mean... why a 30A guage on screen when you set a 1A charge limit. It would be nice also if it alternated between cell and overall charge status automatically (or had option for that) so didn't even need to press button / use roller for that - i.e. do away with "info" button. If the profile layout was more like how the M6 did it it would be a lot more usable... i.e. the flow would be battery profile selection -> show editable settings (rather than overview) -> start... but hopefully they will refine this with firmware updates (rather than a new model).

You can disable whatever voice commands you want. Just attach the SD card that's in the back of the charger to your PC and then rename (or delete) the alerts you don't want to hear. My biggest frustration is you're limited to 10 profiles. It would be nice if you could color code them or add icons o something as they all look nearly identical. The discharge rate is very bad though. I believe it's 3A across both channels which isn't much considering how powerful it can charge batteries.

Very good. Now please spread the word that 8S is the new 6S. Also please build 5 inch 8S. Thank you!

      @@jakekisiel7399 I built a 5inch 8S. It's got no benefit over my 6S. Perform so similar.
Where 8S works great is 7 inch and more

What....no actual review....No one has covered the regenerative discharge feature of this...I think ToolKitRC still calls it "Recycle". Been so curious if this 2 channel version of the M8P can regen discharge from channel 1 to channel 2 or if it is only from the input to an output channel....In a way this is the one thing that ToolKitRC does better than Junsi. With iChargers you cannot put a load on the output (power resistor/light bulbs) because an iCharger must be powered through the input port. If this thing allowed regenerative discharging from channel to channel AND input to output including external discharging from input to output with power resistors.

Damn even with a 60A input current limit at 25V (2 HP DPS server power supplies in series is 25.2V without a load and 24.6V under fairly heavy load for me) is only 1500W...So if you really wanted to get the full 1600W you'd have to 3 or 4 power supplies in series....but the 49V input limit means you are going to be cutting it very close with 4 in series unless you adjust them to be 12.1V or 12.2V when not under load. While under load they should drop to 46V....47V if you're only using maybe 800W.
I guess 36V should be sufficient....That's just shy of 45A at 1600W and I'd be comfortable running an XT90 at that...not so much an XT60.
Unfortunately that means your standard 4mm banana plug is going to be out of the question...I've never seen one rated above 32A.
