    Thanks for the great review.
    At the beginning you mentioned that it charges 1S to 8S, but I noticed in the charger that it only charges 2S to 8S. That’s what it shows in the balance leads input.

      Making up a set of adapter leads is par for the course for all chargers. To charge any number of 1-cell lipos you would need 1 x 2 leads for your 1s batteries soldered in series across a JST-XH balance plug with an XT60 lead soldered to the ends of the string. Plus a similar 3 x 1-cell lead string to take care of uneven numbers of 1-cell batteries.
      The main problem with buying a flash multi function charger like this is that it is like choosing a Bugatti Veyron over a cluster of family sedans. Might be a You Beaut way to travel BUT, when the fan belt breaks, both you and all your family are going to be walking! 😜😱🙄

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798

      There is no such thing as a 1S balance lead so all chargers begin at 2s for the balance lead.

      @@CAPTAINDRONE798 Correct! And charging/discharging all your 250mah 1s Tiny Whoop batteries 1 at a time rather than in a string on your You-Beaut balance/storage charger is a far better use of your gear (and time.) 😉😊

      @@theoztreecrasher2647For my 1S batteries I use a 1s charger for simplicity. Buying a charger like this beast for 1s batteries is like buying an 18 wheeler semi truck so you can do your weekly grocery shopping 😀

    • @theoztreecrasher2647
      @theoztreecrasher2647 7 месяцев назад

      @@CAPTAINDRONE798 😁 Correct! We use all the little 1-cell chargers that come with things like Syma X5C Quads and Volantex V761 Mini Warbirds plugged into gangs of USB wall adapters - well until they are shown to badly over/under charge the cells and limit our fun. (Or simply die!)
      Then the common sense approach of switching to a simple series string adapter for our old faithful SkyRC B6AC v2 4-button chargers kicks in. A bit like using a cheap Asian hatchback to do your shopping - small, cheap, economical to run and a big orifice to shove it all in. 😉
      Same for discharging unused cells at the end of the day, but that also can be switched to the same string adapters to be used with the cheap little multi-cell dischargers/balancers available now.
      Add a fistful of the $2 little battery alarm/voltage readout units so everyone in the gang can have in their battery boxes and we're all set for Sunday fun! Enjoy yours there too, Steve. 😊

I have not bothered to look at any cell drift, etc.

    You probably could use this balance charger on a 16s li-ion battery pack with split balance connectors, i.e. 1-8 on one side while charging 9-16 on the other?
    Something tells me each side of the charger needs to be electrically isolated. Charging both ends at the same time would;d cause a fault coder or even damage the charger. It’s just odd some of the other battery chemistries will charge more cells. I don’t know how it does 20S with eight leads on each side.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes, with most hobby chargers on the market, they have a feature to use both charging ports at once. You just need the correct cable. You could charge a 2S up to a 6S on most (only a few have 8S). Using both ports just gives the full power of watts/amps.

      In the RC Hobby, the more powerful chargers are DC & the hobby enthuisast (charging BIG Batteries) love them. To add a transformer to this one to make it AC would have caused the cost to go up and the watt power to drop, making it less attractive to the masses. In the future we may begin to see 8S chargers with large wattage outputs available at a great price (maybe in year 2025).

      Thanks for the response and additional info CD. I really appreciate you creating content that I find interesting, informative, and entertaining. I am in the RC hobby and have been a drone pilot for over ten years and still prefer having my battery charger on wall power input (120v here in the USA). It's the most convenient way for me anyway. I guess if I were to buy one of these chargers, I'd purchase one of the AC/DC transformers like you have there. Maybe 2025 will see them included in the charger design for a decent price. In the meantime, I'll continue to use my ten year old Tenergy 2s - 6s charger. Still works great, just not too many bells & whistles. Thanks again and happy flying amigo 🫡 🍻.
