    I kind of wish boards would be made with glue that doesn't dissolve in water. We have so many days of rain or wet streets here in Netherlands, it's kind of impossible to truly avoid. Oh and as for suggestions, it is worth looking into the innovative skateboards like the Powerply or Everslick boards, but also the carbon fibre reinforced boards like Powell Peralta Flight decks or Santa Cruz VX decks (or the Impact stuff from Almost etc. I guess). I've been riding a few Everslick decks for a bit now and they razor tail a lot slower. The Flight and VX decks are pretty much unbreakable under normal conditions, with lasting pop. It's some of the few innovations that kind of did take skateboards to the next level of durability. (And I do still like cheap boards like the Mini Logo ones as well, for their great value. For people who break a lot of boards, it can be an idea to just get the 'best cheap' boards you can find.)

    Another good tip is to buy some wood glue and a clamp. It’s probably less than $10 and will last for a really long time. It’s really easy to fix chips in your board with them. It helps keep the pop feeling solid and stops them from chipping more.

      yeah, i did that yesterday to my board and worked perfectly

  • @aviongray

    This could totally be bullshit, but It “works” for me: I find that adding a layer of wax(whatever wax you use when you skate) to your nose/tail, more specifically edge where you pop, tends to help with the pop, and helping the board last longer.

    • @tiffanyganton550
      @tiffanyganton550 3 года назад +6

      this ^^^ i use super glue while im at home so i dont have to think about it all the time, but i use wax while im out skating if my tail needs it. \

      I've seen people wax the edges of the board to keep the plys from separating from high humidity when i lived by the beach.

    • @jdoriginals9223
      @jdoriginals9223 3 года назад

      Not actual bull! This works because there is more "layer" to help with pop

      and then when you try tre flips and land on the tail to much and scrape the fuck out of your board, it just kinda slides instead making a horrific sound like i just disemboweled my board

    What always helps me a lot, is to regularly sand down little chunks and beginning chips on nose and tail with some grip leftovers. It prevents the edges from blowing out on spots where the board has a lot of impact. (Side of the nose when learning kickflips for example). And a smoth edge is much less likely to split.

    I cut my own "shock pads" (soft risers) from rubber roofing scraps. Might slightly change the feel of your pop, but it helps prevent stress fractures. You can usually find thin rubber sheeting at your local hardware store, too.

    Just got back into skating a week ago. I’m 26 I skated for like 6 years back In the day and got decent I wasn’t that good but I was OK. I got my kick flips, shuvits and varials back in just a few days of practice. Glad to see the skating community is still strong I thought it was dead for 8 years I quit maybe because I wasn’t involved in it that I thought that. Loved the video and I’ll take these into consideration.

    If you need to make your board last longer, find a belt sander and square out the ends a little. People ride all sorts of weird board shapes, and you can turn a crusty razor tail into something close to new without significantly changing the shape.

    When you are forced to kick out (when jumping down something), try to make sure the board lands flat (on the wheels is preferable) and not nose/tail diving into the concrete. It takes some practice, but it can become 2nd nature. 🤝✌️

    can you fix chipped skateboard or razor tail

    • @tacticsboardshop
      @tacticsboardshop  3 года назад

      You can glue chips back on to your board with some wood glue and some clamps, but it doesn't really restore the pop. There isn't really anything you can do about razor tail. I've seen suggestions to sand down the razortail and make it rounded again, but that will just make your tail short and stubby and completely change the angle of pop and throw off your tricks. You can find tons of DIY "fixes" for skateboards with a quick google search, but they're really more like bandaids. There aren't any fixes that will make your board "good as new", but there are a couple things you can do to keep your board intact for longer. 👍 - Tim
