In Dark Imperium, one of Guilliman's lowest moments was regretting splitting up the legions into chapters. So now in his campaigns leading a whole bunch of chapters as a legion all in but name.
Just my thoughts on this.When the Loyal Primarch's return to the Lore/tabletop, I think Guliman should answer to his Brother's Primarch's for his past screw up/actions that he has made and should answer for !

It's interesting that Dante chose not to say anything about his vision to Guilliman. If there was anyone in the galaxy, anyone at all that could have helped him make sense of that vision, it would be Sanguinius' brother. I'm sure Papa Smurf would have found some comfort too in knowing that a part of his brother is out there somewhere.

So aside from Guilliman, Dante is the second largest cohesive Imperial force out there (regarding Astartes).

Which makes me wonder why Seth gets annoyed about his mates dying and banging on about them being wiped out as it wasnt the whole chapter.

Dante was talking about how 300 Blood Angels AND their successor chapters survived. 29,000 Astartes answered to the defense of their homeworld, 300 survived. Entire chapters were wiped out, fallen geneseed that can't be recovered, fleets of ships gone, the Black Crusade is still ongoing, the Tyranid Fleet was pushed back, not destroyed.

Basically Dante and the first company go to clear a few planets of population and the do exterminatus on all life forms including plants to deny and starve Leviathan before it hits Baal. His tactic is to strain the swarm before its inevitable attack. Also he nearly falls to the black rage during this battle too.
I can't really speak about lore, as I'm so new to reading about Warhammer 40k. I can speak as a retired soldier. I remember getting the "new" guys to our unit and thinking great a new shit hot, hot shit. They think they know everything. *big eye roll*. So I can empathize with the "old school" space marines looking at these primarius (spelling?) space marines... I also remember reading in Horus Rising that there was a single "old school" space marine that no one really listened to any more because he was the only one *new guys with the big eye roll here*. I'm not saying that's exactly what this is, but it has a similar feeling.
Well I am fairy new to WH40k lore but from what I gleamed of Sanguinius he would be very much i favor as he did not have a positive view on the Thirst and probably would be devastated to learn that his death caused the Rage ..... so seeing sons of his that are not affected by the Rage and can better withstand the Thirst would be something he would be glad to see.
IMO Sanguinius would be overjoyed by the primaris marines beeing more stable in terms of how he called it THE DARKNESS, atleast thats what ive took away from him talking about it to pre heresey horus.
The book was a start-and-through in one go for me. I've read a few ones but that was captivating to say the least. Dante is like Björn but at least Björn gets some sleep once in a while...

I've been a 40k fan for about 15 years through painting, gaming and awesome lore vids like this but have yet to delve into any of the books. Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I think its crazy interesting situation how the thirst is acctually intentionally designed to be there... Since Sanguinius was afraid of talking to the emprah bout it due to the 2 chapters that got exterminated for one reason or another and had their names erased out of history by him, on one hand it shows what type of shit the master of mankind had to fkn stomach on a relativ regular Basis, not to mention stuff like seeing horus standing over sanguiniuses lifeless body, or trying to disperse horuses very beeing out of existence and all the other crazy shit he still does... On the other hand it sure wouldve Been interesting to hear sanguinius and the emprah talk it out, and See if sanguinius could have come to terms wit the fact that hes the Angel 2.0 or not.
I think as current events have borne out that the Empirem of Mankind is under pressure from all quarters. Chaos, the Terinids and the Orks primarily that in order for the Empire to stand a chance they needed a serious boost. I also see some alliances of convenience in the future. Some cooperation at the very least. Between the Empire and the Eldar Craft Worlds and maybe the Tau and maybe even the Necron. We've already seen some cooperative fleet actions with the Eldar and the Empire. And we've seen some technological exchange with the Necron on Cadia during the fall. So how really dire is the real situation for the Empire of Mankind to even consider working with the Zeno?

I feel fairly confident in stating that even if Dante were to be offered the primaris upgrade he would refuse it. Just something about his character makes me think that at least a part of him agrees with Gabriel Seth even if he welcomes the primaris into the blood angels. I just don't think a primaris Dante is going to happen, but an upgraded newer sculpt...maybe?

Egh i just hope GW keeps rules for the legacy models once the imperium switches fully to the Primaris breed. The bloodangels loving the primaris versions ... well Cawl said all flaws were rectified so perhaps the bloodrage is as well. I can see the chapters still existing even after the Legion are reformed. It makes a lot of sense to a) specialize certain chapters and b) Keep them for beraucratic reasons.
👋It might be worth noting that you still need the 300 plus whatever you've got in the cooler to refill their ranks. It wouldn't be the first time the ultramarines shored up the other legions, much in due to the less parasitic recruitment process.
Personally being new to lore Like very New, I think The Primaris are Smart b/c the coming terrors are going to be too much for our regular bois The difference is immense I lowk hope the imperial Guard gets a lil something as well Like a Lasgun upgrade or something 😭 I love the regular Hummies
I dont understand really, imperium needs to change, and for the better, guilliman certainly didnt plan for this but it was a necessary adjustment, he does not force chapters to accept brainwashed ultramarines in their ranks, he simply give them blank and ready to teach soldiers and the technique to make them more from ordinary humans so they can find and make new primaris marines with their own doctrines, like it or not there will be a point we wont call them a Primaris Marines but just "Space Marines". I like primaris, yes their toys expensive and they are new to the table and their rules need to be more balanced and effective but they represent something, they represent new imperium under a better leader and better rule, if someone really understood what Emperor wanted for his imperium it was guilliman (never liked to guy but well he is what he is).
i can.. understand the primaris marines.. a bit sceptical but still understanding, time will tell.. though the blood angels can't have their flesh tearers or the death company much longer.. cause the "fix" within their thirst.. we shall see if that is a blessing.. or a curse

From what we learn in the Dark Imperium novel its almost certain that they are. Primaris were created using the bloodlines of every Loyalist Primarch ... and Robutes policy on assignment is mixed teams during the Indomitus so that the primaris of one line learn to cooperate and to understand the other lines but chapter assignment is strictly by Primarch heritage ... So if all of them are in BA livery they are sons of Sanguinius ...
It is interesting in the recent fluff they are stating that the primaris are also suffering from some of the quirks, like the BA over killing, SW fangs, and Wolf like nature.
If you are gonna trust somebody with a legion in M42, dante is at the top of the list. It would be awesome if they got into conflict with the Mephrit Dynasty of Necrons who is right next door.

Banhammer72 hope Dante doesn’t take the plunge, he already wants death and has been alive for 1,500+ years. Plus I still hope that the flaw for being/becoming Primaris is that their stronger and faster but the flaw being quicker to die naturally. Like how the repulser Dreadnaught’s pilot only lives slightly passed 100 years due to the strain of the machine.
It's not too much of a problem the Dauntless few having Primaris units,it's also possible like Calgary Dante might take the primari upgrades especially with what's going on in the Imperium not a bad idea however would Lion El Johnson's sons follow up 🤔
Guilliman wouldn't have been first choice for retured primarchs but beggars cant be choosers right? Still I think another primarch is needed to balance out Gillimans control because otherwise who will?
Well, now we have Primaris Mephiston but not Dante. Was he too old? Did he decline the option? God knows he needs a new model as the current one, while gorgeous, is quite dated in its pose. I also wonder if we’ll see Primaris Assault Marines with jump packs? Or Primaris Sanguinary Guard? Hmmmmmm.
I always likes the Blood Angels. Only the Red Thirst left me rather 'meh'. I'm not a vampire fan outside of old movies. The Black Rage was rather okay...kind of World Eater like, and the two Legions were rivals, exacerbated by Horus and the Butcher's Nails copy that had inserted. Now, in the current milieu, I like the way the Primaris seem to deal with that...they don't succumb to it in the usual way, apparently, according to Corbulo, yet they can be annoyed to the point of ripping all enemies limb from limb in a welter of gore. The Alpha Legion caused them to do that...then again, the Alpha Legion can cause almost anyone to do that. I do hope Dante goes through the Primaris process like Calgar did. I'd love to see more Primaris Marine Heroes who are upgraded from the old and loved one. The Devastation of Baal is an outstanding read. At this point, it would be possible to field an entirely Primaris force of Blood Angels, given how few of the older Marines remain. That can be done with any Chapter really. I've done it with my Salamanders. Great video. :)
I would only beg games workshop to keep the history alive of the chapters within these new marines . that they would venerate the angel as one would rogal dorn or else you lose the essence of what makes a space marine .
I also wonder if he would create a schism in the imperium considering they worship . or will it kill him inside to keep the status quo of his father being a god.
A list of true statements. Vigilus happens right after cadia falls. The desolation of Baal happens while cadia falls. The ultima crusade takes 200 years to end. Calgar was primaris at vigilus soon after cadia falls. Calgar wasn't primaris yet 200 years later when the crusade ends. Why the blood Angel's weren't at vigilus is just the writers getting the timeline messed up.
Daniel C-S 1. It happens nearly two centuries after the fall of Cadia. 2. Due to time dilation after the birth of the great rift, 70 years had passed in the wider Imperium while only months have passed on Baal. The Indomitus Crusade relieves Dante’s forces. 3. Calgar becomes a Primaris shortly before Vigilus. See 1.
@@kelman727 the fluff for the setting of vigilus on the community page has forces like the space wolves going directly from cadia to vigilus. Also, the opening of dark imperium is 200 or so years after the crusade starts, and calgar isn't primaris. The community page actually referenced the discontinuity in a few posts about the weird temporal effects of the rift.

From a pure storytelling point of view this is a great idea. But from a Game dynamic point of view it is really problematic. At this point the non-primaris model range will become more and more stagnant. All the new toys are going into the primaris. There is no way that GW will allow the story to push people who want to play loyalist back to the older style of marine.

IMO Sanguinius would be overjoyed by the primaris marines beeing more stable in terms of how he called it THE DARKNESS, atleast thats what ive took away from him talking about it to pre heresey horus.
The book was a start-and-through in one go for me. I've read a few ones but that was captivating to say the least. Dante is like Björn but at least Björn gets some sleep once in a while...

Question for the Wolf Lord or anyone willing to answer: Are there any good books involving the Raven Gaurd? I've been a 40k fan for about 15 years through painting, gaming and awesome lore vids like this but have yet to delve into any of the books. Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Since Sanguinius was afraid of talking to the emprah bout it due to the 2 chapters that got exterminated for one reason or another and had their names erased out of history by him, on one hand it shows what type of shit the master of mankind had to fkn stomach on a relativ regular Basis, not to mention stuff like seeing horus standing over sanguiniuses lifeless body, or trying to disperse horuses very beeing out of existence and all the other crazy shit he still does...
On the other hand it sure wouldve Been interesting to hear sanguinius and the emprah talk it out, and See if sanguinius could have come to terms wit the fact that hes the Angel 2.0 or not.
I think as current events have borne out that the Empirem of Mankind is under pressure from all quarters.
Chaos, the Terinids and the Orks primarily that in order for the Empire to stand a chance they needed a serious boost.
I also see some alliances of convenience in the future.
Some cooperation at the very least.
Between the Empire and the Eldar Craft Worlds and maybe the Tau and maybe even the Necron.
We've already seen some cooperative fleet actions with the Eldar and the Empire.
And we've seen some technological exchange with the Necron on Cadia during the fall.
So how really dire is the real situation for the Empire of Mankind to even consider working with the Zeno?

I feel fairly confident in stating that even if Dante were to be offered the primaris upgrade he would refuse it. Just something about his character makes me think that at least a part of him agrees with Gabriel Seth even if he welcomes the primaris into the blood angels. I just don't think a primaris Dante is going to happen, but an upgraded newer sculpt...maybe?

Egh i just hope GW keeps rules for the legacy models once the imperium switches fully to the Primaris breed. The bloodangels loving the primaris versions ... well Cawl said all flaws were rectified so perhaps the bloodrage is as well.
I can see the chapters still existing even after the Legion are reformed. It makes a lot of sense to a) specialize certain chapters and b) Keep them for beraucratic reasons.
When Dorn returns I will be quite interested to see his reckoning with the descendants of sigismunds boys in black

👋It might be worth noting that you still need the 300 plus whatever you've got in the cooler to refill their ranks. It wouldn't be the first time the ultramarines shored up the other legions, much in due to the less parasitic recruitment process.

I dont understand really, imperium needs to change, and for the better, guilliman certainly didnt plan for this but it was a necessary adjustment, he does not force chapters to accept brainwashed ultramarines in their ranks, he simply give them blank and ready to teach soldiers and the technique to make them more from ordinary humans so they can find and make new primaris marines with their own doctrines, like it or not there will be a point we wont call them a Primaris Marines but just "Space Marines". I like primaris, yes their toys expensive and they are new to the table and their rules need to be more balanced and effective but they represent something, they represent new imperium under a better leader and better rule, if someone really understood what Emperor wanted for his imperium it was guilliman (never liked to guy but well he is what he is).

He must have saw what uniting the chapters could do (basically winning against the tendral). Then it makes sense to win against chaos they will need a united huge force.

From what we learn in the Dark Imperium novel its almost certain that they are.
Primaris were created using the bloodlines of every Loyalist Primarch ... and Robutes policy on assignment is mixed teams during the Indomitus so that the primaris of one line learn to cooperate and to understand the other lines but chapter assignment is strictly by Primarch heritage ...
So if all of them are in BA livery they are sons of Sanguinius ...
It is interesting in the recent fluff they are stating that the primaris are also suffering from some of the quirks, like the BA over killing, SW fangs, and Wolf like nature.

If you are gonna trust somebody with a legion in M42, dante is at the top of the list. It would be awesome if they got into conflict with the Mephrit Dynasty of Necrons who is right next door.

Banhammer72 hope Dante doesn’t take the plunge, he already wants death and has been alive for 1,500+ years. Plus I still hope that the flaw for being/becoming Primaris is that their stronger and faster but the flaw being quicker to die naturally. Like how the repulser Dreadnaught’s pilot only lives slightly passed 100 years due to the strain of the machine.

Well, now we have Primaris Mephiston but not Dante. Was he too old? Did he decline the option? God knows he needs a new model as the current one, while gorgeous, is quite dated in its pose. I also wonder if we’ll see Primaris Assault Marines with jump packs? Or Primaris Sanguinary Guard? Hmmmmmm.
I always likes the Blood Angels. Only the Red Thirst left me rather 'meh'. I'm not a vampire fan outside of old movies. The Black Rage was rather okay...kind of World Eater like, and the two Legions were rivals, exacerbated by Horus and the Butcher's Nails copy that had inserted. Now, in the current milieu, I like the way the Primaris seem to deal with that...they don't succumb to it in the usual way, apparently, according to Corbulo, yet they can be annoyed to the point of ripping all enemies limb from limb in a welter of gore. The Alpha Legion caused them to do that...then again, the Alpha Legion can cause almost anyone to do that. I do hope Dante goes through the Primaris process like Calgar did. I'd love to see more Primaris Marine Heroes who are upgraded from the old and loved one. The Devastation of Baal is an outstanding read. At this point, it would be possible to field an entirely Primaris force of Blood Angels, given how few of the older Marines remain. That can be done with any Chapter really. I've done it with my Salamanders. Great video. :)
I would only beg games workshop to keep the history alive of the chapters within these new marines . that they would venerate the angel as one would rogal dorn or else you lose the essence of what makes a space marine .
I also wonder if he would create a schism in the imperium considering they worship . or will it kill him inside to keep the status quo of his father being a god.
A list of true statements.
Vigilus happens right after cadia falls.
The desolation of Baal happens while cadia falls.
The ultima crusade takes 200 years to end.
Calgar was primaris at vigilus soon after cadia falls.
Calgar wasn't primaris yet 200 years later when the crusade ends.
Why the blood Angel's weren't at vigilus is just the writers getting the timeline messed up.

@@kelman727 the fluff for the setting of vigilus on the community page has forces like the space wolves going directly from cadia to vigilus. Also, the opening of dark imperium is 200 or so years after the crusade starts, and calgar isn't primaris. The community page actually referenced the discontinuity in a few posts about the weird temporal effects of the rift.

Seth was right, Bellisarius has done something like Order 76 be ready for the galaxy to burn once again.
From a pure storytelling point of view this is a great idea. But from a Game dynamic point of view it is really problematic. At this point the non-primaris model range will become more and more stagnant. All the new toys are going into the primaris. There is no way that GW will allow the story to push people who want to play loyalist back to the older style of marine.
