Al Jazeera gained special access rebel-held territory in the Upper Nile region. Catherine Soi reports in the second of a four part series, The Rebels of South Sudan.
The UN Security Council has imposed sanctions on six generals loyal to South Sudan's President Salva Kiir, and former vice president-turned-rebel-leader Riek Machar. They're accused of undermining the peace process in a conflict that's killed thousands of people, and forced more than two million from their homes.
Catherine Soi spoke to rebel commanders in Upper Nile State near the border with Ethiopia.
