    She had not paid rent in 2 years and that didn't trigger any question by the New York City Housing authority Management on site office? Did they have any idea that they may have should have checked the apartment or call the police to do a wellness check? This is heartbreaking. It's horrible that someone was left to die and rot away alone for almost 2 years! They really needs to be some reforms in the housing authorities management and some people need to be held accountable.

    • @burbank
      @burbank 2 года назад +18

      @@The_Realz yes that is very true in fact during that time there was an eviction moratorium which was in essence a good thing to protect those who were out of work or had a loss of income and kept them from being displaced but one of the downturns of that moratorium was that people did fall under the radar. I guess it would be fair that if it were normal times and that there was no pandemic an eviction would have been issued and they probably would have attempted entry into the apartment. Regardless it's a very sad and tragic event and my heart goes out to her family. I hope this lady rests in peace.

  • @jojomakes

    I'm baffled as to why they didn't have the door broken down. The poor woman had emotional and mental health concerns. That warrants a welfare check. She hasn't paid rent in all that time, she hasn't made any phone calls in all that time, she hasn't accessed any of her bank cards in all that time, and no one has seen her. People just don't fall off the face of the earth like movies would have you believe. Unless they're dead or being held against their will, there will be some sort of trail. Even kidnapped people have a trail. If that was my sister and the housing office and police weren't taking me seriously, my parents and I would literally go take the hinges off the door, kick it down, I don't know how, but we'd find a way. _Especially_ since she went missing during the first Covid peak when we were on lock down and had nothing but time. This is absolutely egregious and entirely preventable.

Her foster sisters obviously tried to get in & notified NYCHA & the police however the authorities basically ignored this. Pols & others want more money throw at services & more housing yet they can’t even manage current social services like NYCHA. This wasn’t only bad management it was heartless to basically let this woman die in her apartment & ignore her foster sisters pleas to check in on her. If my sister living along called me and said she felt sick , and wanted to go to the hospital ( no matter how that convocation went ) and would not answer the door days later , call cops , get a locksmith ( the NYCHA office could have called one too ) getting the okay in writing from the Family . Also the family hadn’t heard from her in a while & the last time they talked to her she wanted to go to the hospital. The very fact that she had mental health problems should of raised concerns. The police should of been called to do a welfare check on her. If they still didn’t get any response they should of broke the door down to get in. I love how the foster sisters are pointing fingers and blaming everyone but themselves. True this is a sad ending and several people dropped the ball but if one of my brothers was missing, I sure wouldn't wait 18 months to file a missing persons report. 48 hours, tops. Family comes first. Especially when they knew she had issues.

The medical professionals never said one couldn't go to the Hospital and seek any type of treatment; just that it was full of COVID patients. I no New York housing is large I live in Cleveland Ohio and reside in Cuyahoga County Senior Housing and even doing the pandemic management sent notice if you weren't paying your rent and gave out resources to help you they even pass out essential needs like masks and thermometer and food just imagine she had not been seen since August of 2020 no one care in the building I reside in which is about 200 resident people generally look out for each other and I can say if a reside having not been seen someone will call for a welfare check just a sad world we live in today May she rest in heaven

    WOW!!! 2 years is crazy and it's crazy that no one came to check when the rent wasn't being paid and they had NO contact with her!!! This is so sad!!! RIP!!!

    All I hear about NYCHA are horrible things. I haven't heard anything good about them period.

    I haven't heard from my Dad for a few days...I'm ready to call the local police where he lives & have them do a well check. I question her sister's as to why didn't they call authorities after not seeing her or getting any response from her in a week or so. Just sad💔😢🙏🏽
