Remember that these are stories that have been passed down from generation to generation. Have you ever played the game telephone? Not saying they’re stories are false but history that is handed down could theoretically change from its original info.. that’s what’s so great about GOT there is no black and white only gray
@UC6wD8OKlGlIvUFuYLamu3QA it’s the specifics of each story I’m referring to. Not the overall outcome but how things came to such outcomes. Not a single story that is mentioned in this video is free from any criticism. It all depends who writes it and what they believe. Like major said “it’s his story”
You're bang on with the comparisons to the war of the roses. That's how I convinced my history buff dad to give the show a chance - he was sitting in the room when I was watching it and all of a sudden he just exclaimed that he got it. It was funny, but then we had a cool weekend watching the first two seasons in a marathon.
You’re the first GOT reactor I’ve seen do this. Bravo! I love how much you’re into it and not just watching it to build your subscribers. This will be so helpful moving forward.
Rhaegar is a very interesting character (btw Rhaegar wounded Robert so badly that he could not even ride south after for months (and that was Rhaegar's first ever battle)). When you watch the show listen to mentions of Rhaegar and what everyone thinks of him, it's pretty cool
Rhaegar's family was not included in the escape because Aerys kept them as hostage for the Martells to remain loyal and he also thought the Martells somehow betrayed Rhaegar in the battle that's why he lost and died.
Well, this should nicely fill in all the unanswered questions everyone who watched the show first time around didn't have. Kinda like reading the books.
The mad king purposely wanted princess Elia to stay with him to keep Dorne loyal cause they were of course fighting with the Targaryens. So Areys only wanted to save his wife & children just in case.
I was always under the impression that the song "The Rains of Castamere" was about how House Lannister took Casterly Rock from House Casterly and basically killed them all. I'm surprised to learn that it's actually about how House Lannister erased House Reyne, so that's two Houses the Lannisters erased. That's hardcore.
This is a first. Yeah, Keep doing these after each season. These videos are mad interesting, and makes you more curious about the world (at least that's how I felt watching them). Enjoy!
It was The Baratheons, Starks, Tully's and Arryn's v The Targaryans, Tyrells, and Martells. The Lannisters and Greyjoys stayed neutral in the fight until just before the end.
I'd never seen these so I'm glad you watched them with us. I learned a lot and I've seen the series several times and watched many reactors in the past! No spoilers but maybe some of this information will come round again, and if so, hey, you'll be ready instead of confused. Thumbs up.
Game of Thrones comes with a lot of deep history from the books that the show itself cannot always show, and that history really builds out the world and makes it really feel lived in. And watching these Histories and Lore videos from the dvd extras after viewing each season is a great thing because the show really designed it to put events and stories mentioned in the season you just viewed into perspective so that you understand more of the various characters’ motivations. It’s such a clever way of show and dvd special features synergy to just elevate the show and put viewers even deeper into the world.
Fun fact: GRRM vastly underestimated how big "700 feet" looks in real life. When he saw the first images of the Wall they made for the show (or maybe it was for the video game?), which were to scale, he was absolutely staggered. He had not imagined it that big.
Yes she rains of the castamere is my fav song of the series!! Tywin a whole savage!! If you rewatch season 1 now that you’ve seen the history & lore it will make sooo much more sense!! GOT is a show that gets better every time you watch & you always catch something you missed! You have to do a rewatch before the last season!!
The families of the North are the oldest in the 7 kingdoms. King Areas was a mad king but he had a little bit of sense and that’s why he kept his daughter-in-law and her children with him in Kings Landing. The same reason he kept Jamie close. Just about all your questions will either be answered in the series of the history & lore connected to the seasons.
Why didn’t they explain Robert Baratheon, Stannis, and Renly’s grandmother was full blooded Targaryen!?!? By rights he used that as legitimacy, but yes by rights of conquest too. He more than a quarter Targaryen. Ps Thanks for doing this, awesomeness …. I love The White Queen show! And love to read on that time. I have studied it and watched so many documentaries 👏🏼👑
The ancient Pictish people of Scotland were described exactly like the Children of the Forest: small, swarthy, dark and mysterious. It ties into Irish and Norse myths of fairies, leprechauns, little people who lived in tunnels and under mounds, etc. In Iceland they built all the roads around boulder fields because they were said to be haunted, and Irish people to this day still avoid certain areas associated with fairies. In real life fairies were known as tricksters and could be extremely dangerous.
I am years late to this party, I stumbled on your channel the other day with your newer stuff and loved it, but the books this show is based on are my very favourite series in the world and I've watched many people react to the show but I think you might be my very favourite reactor. The historical knowledge you have already tucked away, the way you pick up stuff, and the fact you went out of your way to react to the lore videos - man, this is good stuff. Just gonna put the playlist on while I work and enjoy 👌💯
Keep in mind these stories are told by characters with a bias. Notice how depending on which character is telling the story, they give a different point of view of the same story. So some details should be taken with a grain of salt, as they might have not actually happened how the characters said they did..... Especially when it comes to Roberts Rebellion
Elia and her children were kept in King's Landing in order to secure the loyalty of her family and Dorne. They were basically glorified hostages after Rhaegar's death.
All of the cultures described here are based on real cultures. Valyria is ancient Rome, Old Ghys is Greece or Egypt. Bravos is Venice. The wildlings north of the Wall are the Vikings and the Dothraki are the Mongols. Just as there are also historical events here, for example the Anadals, which can be compared to the Crusader heritage. Or the Lannisters and the English Wars of the Roses.
Dude. MAJOR props for delving in to the lore. GOT and LOTR just have so much to them videos like these (and also wikis) do a great job of just lettin' ya know the grand scheme of things. I'm new to the channel and don't know if ya ever plan on doing music reactions but the "Epic Rap Battles of History" channel has an awesome match between Tolkien and George Martin now that you've gotten in to both. Any way. Keep it up my man.
The War of the Roses was between houses Lancaster and York. This was switched to Lannister and a Stark in the show. House Lancaster’s crest was a red rose, House York’s was a white rose, hence, “war of the roses” 1455 - 1485.
the reason why the mad king didn't send Elia and her children away was because they were kind of hostages. Dorn didn't like the targarians after what Rhaegar did, but they fought on their side, to keep Elia and her children safe.
Robert wanted every last Targaryen killed so nobody would come for revenge. It's a Mafia style mentality where when you take power from a family you kill the whole family all the way down to their goldfish and Ned didn't believe in harming children.
This was brilliant. It's so helpful for you for the next season and beyond as it helps to understand why certain characters say what they say and behave the way they do. Really enjoyed this.
It’s great you’re doing this, I done this after watching GoT for the first time to understand the story a little better by getting the background to it. And you’re spot on with the similarities between Game of Thrones and the War of the Roses, part of GRRM’s inspiration for the books was this war. And some of the House names are a nod to this, the Starks and Lannisters, taken from the York’s and Lancasters.
Exactly! Now you see why Ned tried to save Cersei and the her kids… and fought for Dany to not be killed! The show should have explained that more about Rhaegar’s kids, baby Aegon and Rhaenys. It is so I teresting because each person telling their version gets things right that others didn’t but then tells a fabrication 🤷🏼♀️😂
Very astute analysis ...nice to see someone who has historical education enough to have a comparative perspective. The War of the Roses definitely had strong influence on the A Song of Ice & Fire series.
Man I didn't know they did these In season 1. These are always great to watch. But it would awesome if you did love, hate, like lists at the end of every season. But no matter what you do you always got a viewer.
Hitting some points throughout the video : Valyria is sort of a combination of Ancient Rome (as it would have been in the eyes of people in the Middle Ages) and Westeros’ own Atlantis myth. Since you just finished Lord of the Rings, the Targaryens being the last survivors of the “Doom of Valyria” is almost certainly George Martin being inspired by Tolkien’s similar doomed island nation of Numenor and the line of kings that Aragorn is descended from being the ones to make it to the mainland (with their unique traits of being dragon riders and fire resistant being like how Aragorn’s family aged more slowly than normal men). Also, as a note, since it came up a couple times, while it was a recurring family custom, not every generation of Targaryen monarchs took part in inbreeding. So it wasn’t like they had 300 years and like 20 kings all with sister-wives. Aegon did it, Aerys did it, and some in between, but plenty didnt (and we know this in part because Dany is a functional human being). Like how Rhaegar was married to, and had two kids with, Elia Martell. Something I like about these histories (and which continues along, becoming even more apparent when it’s covering events you’ve seen on screen, but now are hearing) is how they all have the personal flavor and biases of their speaker. Some are obvious (like Robert’s visceral hatred of Rhaegar and Aerys and “I did what I had to do” attitude toward Elia and Rhaegar’s kids, or Viserys believing his family was in the right, even though, while we’re getting biased takes on specific details from Robert/Tywin/etc, we can feel pretty confident that Aerys pushed his people too far for too long and at least he himself was clearly a bad guy, even if not everyone on his side was bad, nor everyone on Ned & Robert’s side was good), but even little details, like how northerners like Maester Luwin treat the Night’s Watch with respect, and the Wildling tribes as a legit threat worthy of defending against, while a southerner like Tywin is dismissive of the entire situation at the Wall, deeming everyone there a bunch of criminals and bums. Those little personal touches continue in these little history segments and help add to the “I don’t really have any side I wholly love/hate, because everyone has their own story” tone of the series. Re: War of the Roses- Great catch! Martin was heavily influenced by the war of the roses (among other real historical events) in both Robert’s Rebellion and the main plot of the series. Even down to the names (Lancaster & York: Lannister & Stark). Another historical parallel is the waves of cultural migration in Westeros of the First Men, Andals, & Aegon. The First Men are like ancient Celts or Britons (the Wall is like a super fantasied version of Hadrian’s Wall, that the Romans built between Roman England & “wild” Scotland), the Andals are like the Saxons that came to England and conquered those native tribes (with multiple regional “kings” like the kings of Northumberland, Mercia, Wessex, East Anglia, etc), and Aegon (even down to his nickname) is William The Conqueror, who came from Normandy, across a narrow sea (wink wink), rolled over the Saxons, Norse, and natives alike, and became king of England. Also, just as a breakdown since you mentioned not being sure what Dorne was up to during the Rebellion, Dorne (the Martells) stayed loyal to the Targaryens (which makes sense given that the daughter of the lord of Dorne was married to the Crown Prince Rhaegar and so, in line to be the next Queen). The Tyrells, the rulers of The Reach, also allied with the Targs. So it was Baratheon/Stormlands, Stark/North, Arryn/Vale, & Tully/Riverlands against Targaryen/whole kingdom, Martell/Dorne, & Tyrell/Reach, with Lannister/Westerlands staying neutral (but with the assumption on the part of Aerys that Tywin would eventually back him when the chips were down, which is why he let him into the city...and regretted it for the remainder of his short time on earth). 1:02:30 - “The Mountain” really is probably one of the few unambiguously evil characters on this show. Ned was right to want him put down for what he did to Elia and her kids. But Tywin, as you saw in his description of what he did as a young man to the Reynes of Castamere, understands the value of fear. And having the most feared person in Westeros under his command isn’t something he was ever going to let go of. 1:12:30 - it implicitly answered your question here a bit later on during Bran & Robb’s video, but the Starks are the oldest house. Looking forward to Season 2!
Yesss!! Tywin made Areys think he was there to help but killed thousands of innocents! He was sitting back waiting to see who would win. Dorne is in the south & yes they were with the Targaryen as well as the reach which is house Tyrell. Yes this story is based off the war of the roses the author of the books GRRM based it off the war that’s why it’s Lannister from Lancaster & York aka Stark! You are so smart I love it like I keep saying you got the perfect mind for this!! Yes lady Margaret married a Tudor! A offspring of Lancaster who married a York princess to unite the lines!
They seriously underplayed Robert's relation to House Targaryen in this video. He doesn't just have historic ties to the Targaryen's through Orris Baratheon, Robert's own grandmother was a Targaryen.
I am so happy to see someone else excited about his-story. I also got into studying the migrations and archiology of Indo-Iranians crossing Asia into Europe. The braided-ware people make up most of europe now. The Yamnaya and Scythians were savage just like Khal Drogo and Atilla the Hun
Good these are so much fun. Doesn’t matter how much I’ve seen them. I love this stuff. They did it perfectly using the character’s perspectives too and using he actors.
I've so enjoyed ur GOT reactions!!! Can't wait to finish watching the rest of ur reactions!! But I do have a suggestion for another show series only because I think u've mention twice about the war of the roses and I think u might find this suggestion interesting but if not I tried lol. The series is called "Outlander"
I know you already finished the whole show and I am watching and commenting really late, but I enjoy your reactions so much it's like watching the show again and your commentary is great! and I am glad you watched these lore videos too they are really great. Love they are narrated by real cast of the show. I hope the new show "House of the dragon" does something similar like this :)
Roberts Grandmother Was a Full Blooded Targaryen Princess, Sister of KING Jaehaerys II Targaryen (Mad King Aerys' Father). Robert's Father STeffon & Mad King Aerys were 1st Cousins. So, Robert Baratheon & Rhaegar Targaryen were Cousins as Well. His Targaryen Blood is what the Maester's used to Justify that ROBERT should be King.
59:42 this will also never be said in the show but in the books he didn't want the kids to meet their end as they did. This was kinda the first time the mounntain and his men were really used in warfare. Tywin knew he was a beast in combat and did order the kids killed. but he didn't order the death of elia or order the way the kids were put to death. he only ordered the kids dead due to their claim to the throne. but he didn't condone the way they were killed.
I believe Major is ready for the Audio Books at least the first four books. Roy Dotrice aka the guy that makes the wild fire for Tyrion is the guy that reads the books and he does a badass job.
I don’t know man. This is full of surprises , some u don’t hear about til season five. I’m glad I only watched the show before deep diving. Maybe watch before second viewing of whole show IMO. Because if u like it as much as fans. U will eventually watch multiple times. Good reactions dude. Fun to watch. Keep up the good work!
When Tywin offered Cersei to marry Rhaegar, Aerys called Tywin hus greatest servant but he wouldn't marry his son to a servant's daughter. The Martell's agreed to join Dorne to join Westeros with a marriage. Since Rhaegar didn't have a sister (yet, anyway), the Martell family at least had precedent of having married into the Targaryens in the past. Not only did Aerys name Jaime to the Kingsguard, it leaves Tyrion as Tywin's heir.
Yes you're right about GOT being loosely based on the War of the Roses, (York V Lancaster) I suppose a writer gets their inspiration from all over the place in history. Just a bit of extra info on Richard III and Henry VII. History tells us Richard had his Nephews murdered to claim the crown for himself but this is doubtful, Richard was assigned 'Lord Protector' of his young Nephews and the eldest was the rightful heir to the throne making them targets. By claiming them both bastards and taking the crown for himself was indeed protection, Richard was now the target. The two young boys were seen playing in the Tower of London long after Richard was crowned. It is believed that Henry had the boys murdered and not Richard, if they were still alive he could never have taken the crown from Richard on the battle field. History also tells us that Richard's body was torn apart and thrown into a river but in 2016 Richard's intact skeletal remains were found in what was once a Priory's graveyard, now a car park, identified by DNA. The propaganda of Richards death and his evil deed with his Nephews was spun by loyalists to Henry and also Shakespeare, but we have to remember who Shakespeare was writing for... Henry VII Grandaughter, Queen Elizabeth I and he couldn't write anything else if he wanted to keep his head!! The bones of two young people were found in a box, in a wall in the Tower of London in 1600's during some renovation, Charles II had them buried in Westminster Abbey believing them to be the 2 Princes. Historians of today want to exhume them to identify them via DNA but the Church have said no to this, so whoever the bones belong to will always remain a mystery. Where the bones were found is also a clue to Henry having murdered them as Richard and his men would've been able to come and go as they pleased and would never have been questioned if they left the Tower with the hidden bodies of his Nephews to be disposed of, which would've been the more sensible thing to do. Henry on the other hand could never have risked this so had to hide them in the Tower. Sorry this is so long but this is my favourite subject and I'm from York so was taught all this in school by default lol.
I enjoy these histories but they are a bit different then the books in some areas. One thing that bothers me a lot is how they don't portray Robert as he truly was physically. Only one warrior dwarfed Robert and that was the Mountain Ser Gregor Clegane. Unfortunately they cast the 6' 6" Robert Baratheon with the 5' 6" Mark Addy. He would not have been my choice.
And Harry Potter had his mothers Green eyes (which is important) in the books and not Daniel Radcliffe’s Blue eyes. Some physical differences fans just have to deal with.
Yeah, but while the show’s Robert doesn’t come off as the giant of a man his book counterpart is, good camera work prevents him from ever looking small. Kind of like how the 5’9” Tom Hardy managed to look at least as tall (and certainly “bigger” than) as the 6’2” Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Rises. Addy was one of the lesser casting choices (which isn’t even necessarily a knock on him, since about 90% of the show’s casting decisions are massive bullseyes), but I never felt it took me out of the show. Stannis & Tywin were similarly miscast based on their book descriptions, though I think Stephen Dillane & Charles Dance are good enough actors that they managed to reform the mental image of the character around themselves, particularly Dance’s Tywin completely swallowing up his book counterpart.
@@YankeeBlues21 Addy was a perfect casting choice in everything but stature. Some of which, as you pointed out, was accomodated for with camera angles to make him appear taller. Otherwise I thought Addy was an incredible Robert Baratheon.
@@kk_33 I like Addy as an actor well enough, but his Robert was a little too far into the slovenly drunkard half of the character. I had some trouble buying him as having once been essentially Westeros’ Khal Drogo and a warrior that would rip Season 1 Jaime in half and go toe to toe with the Cleganes in raw power. Like, Robert by the time of GoT is supposed to be a shell of himself, but he still should have enough menace and echoes of that great warrior from time to time. I remember my show-only friends at the time that I’d watch with being under the impression that Robert had been installed as a puppet king by (their theories varied) Tywin, Jon Arryn, etc. who’d been chosen over Ned because he was easier to manipulate. So at least some show watchers missed Robert being a genuine leader of men in his day and not just the face that was slapped into the rebellion by scheming greybeards. And I think some of that lies a the feet of the show’s emphasis on him as comic relief (ex. if you ask 10 show watchers what scene they think of when they think of Robert, I bet 8+ will say the scene in the tent where he’s complaining about how he’s too fat to fit into his armor anymore)
Mark Addy is like 5'10, 5'11 lol. Taller than average man height. Dont be ridiculous saying 5'6 thats shorter than Jon Snow and hes short. Mark Addy and Sean Bean are about the same height. I agree i would have wanted a 6+feet actor as well but acting is what matters most and Mark Addy portrayed the vision of the character perfectly
41:37 if Cersei marries Rhaegar, the Targaryen will still be on the throne, bc Tywin plan was also to marry Jaime to lysa Tully or Elia Martell, so even if Robert rebellion happen, they would have too many ennemies: the tyrells, the Targaryans, the lannisters, the martells (if Jaime married Elia). If Jaime married lysa, the situation would have been worse bc the Tully would have take the crown side or remain neutral
Just a quick note the weirwood tree and the old gods of the first men are not the same thing. Instead, the descendants of the first men worship their old gods through the weridwood.
If you listen carefully, you can hear the characters of the show narrating this show. This first one was little Bran Stark. I believe Viserys, and also a few others narrate as well.
Meaning... the actors who played the characters in the show voice the narrations. The one about the dragons was narrated by the guy who played Dany's brother, Viserys
@@cariparkerr1_girl369 It’s not snark unless you take it that way. I am merely speaking a fact as he just finished season 1 and he’s very astute so he recognizes the voices.
Richard Neville (the king maker) didn't kill edward the 4th he let him out for a ride and he escaped. Edward the 4th died king in bed. And then the whole debacle with Richard 3rd and Edward (would have been 5th if he would have lived/corrinated ) started.
theory: rhaella and her advisors left Elia Martell and her kids in kings landing bc they knew they would die. that way they would have an opportunity to install their branch of the targaeyan fam as the heirs and restore the incestuous line (Dany and viserys) instead of the targaryan/martell bloodline. but then rhaella died and Dany and viserys had to go on the run.
59:37 that's not confirmed just so you know it's actually a bit of a debate whether Tywin or Cersei ordered it or if Gregor did it by himself which I find as most likely considering the nature of the Mountain.
Tywin definitely ordered it. It's pretty transparent. Cersei would've had no power at the time to order the death of Elia and her children, she was only Tywin's daughter, not yet queen.
@@SankyEON With context we know Cersei wasn't involved but it was never confirmed whether Tywin ordered it. I see it as far more likely Gregor did it by himself.
I'm pretty sure Tywin would say "kill the children", not "bash their infant brains out on the wall and make their mother stare at their bodies while you rape and kill her". Still, he knew what the Mountain was like.
@@aloysiuswhiteboat2934 Yes he knew but we arn't aware that he even ordered Gregor to go anywhere near Elia and her children he might not have even thought of it as a factor.
it will never be mentioned outside of the books but the mad king also wanted Tywin's wife for himself, Tywin was one of the rare characters that actually married purely out of love. there was no political gains to be had because Joanna Lannister was just that... a Lannister. Tywin's cousin to be exact. it's quite important to note that cousins marrying cousins isn't considered incest in westeros. But the mad king would also make very disgusting remarks about Joanna. It is said that Tywin never smiles, but he did when he married joanna and also when jaime and cersei were born. I know you're already in season 4 so it isn't a spoiler but when Joanna died by giving birth to Tyrion i'm pretty sure it broke Tywin. he was always obsessed with legacy but I feel like that instead of griefing for his wife he just stuffed it all in his work/legacy and didn't care about the rest anymore. And he obviously blames Tyrion for the death of his wife. even though there is no way to prove or disprove it i'm quite a fan of the mad king raped joanna fan theory because the seeds for this to have happened are there. although it probably didn't happen it's something that i would like for the story which I will explain why in later seasons.
Wow! Dude.. you are the only person who brought up "War of the Roses" reference.

Yes you hit it on the head with war of the roses 🥀 good eye 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Really love how you're interested in the War of the Roses.
So glad you chose to do this. It made things so much clearer for me after watching these. So good
Keep in mind these stories are told by characters with a bias. Notice how depending on which character is telling the story, they give a different point of view of the same story. So some details should be taken with a grain of salt, as they might have not actually happened how the characters said they did..... Especially when it comes to Roberts Rebellion
History is written by the winners.
Yorks and Lancasters...sounds a bit like Starks and Lannisters. Pretty cool seeing you put that together.
the reason why the mad king didn't send Elia and her children away was because they were kind of hostages. Dorn didn't like the targarians after what Rhaegar did, but they fought on their side, to keep Elia and her children safe.
Yay!! So glad you doing the history & lore videos!! Can’t wait to continue this with you!!
Robert wanted every last Targaryen killed so nobody would come for revenge. It's a Mafia style mentality where when you take power from a family you kill the whole family all the way down to their goldfish and Ned didn't believe in harming children.
Love that you're watching the Lore stuff and not just the show. Great channel!
Yesss please do the season 2 one of this when you’re finished season 2
Damn, dedication
Thank you Robert and thank you for the support
This was brilliant. It's so helpful for you for the next season and beyond as it helps to understand why certain characters say what they say and behave the way they do. Really enjoyed this.
It’s great you’re doing this, I done this after watching GoT for the first time to understand the story a little better by getting the background to it. And you’re spot on with the similarities between Game of Thrones and the War of the Roses, part of GRRM’s inspiration for the books was this war. And some of the House names are a nod to this, the Starks and Lannisters, taken from the York’s and Lancasters.
“What the hell did he kidnap her for, bro?” Great question!
prophecy babies
When I first saw these. I literally felt it was real events that actually happened in real life 😂 I was that into it
45:55 Robert narrating his rebellion is the best part
Watching from Newcastle, Australia.
Loved the lore reaction, keep it up, mate!
I like the different perspectives on the same events.
Hitting some points throughout the video :
Valyria is sort of a combination of Ancient Rome (as it would have been in the eyes of people in the Middle Ages) and Westeros’ own Atlantis myth.
Ive watch everyting thrones but nt dis so thank u very much bro keep dem comin
Thank you so much for reviewing this! I live in the Netherlands and never even knew this existed!
Well Robert Baratheon's grandmother was a Targaryen who married a Baratheon so Robert is half Targaryen and half Baratheon
That would make Robert about one quarter Targaryen. His father would have been half.
York vs. Lancaster
Stark vs. Lannister
It's based heavily on the War of the Roses.
Damn, i love your dedication. You're becoming such a fan!!
Visarys: now is my time to claim the iron throne
Drogo: nope lol
he gave him the crown he promised, tho
He doesn't just have historic ties to the Targaryen's through Orris Baratheon, Robert's own grandmother was a Targaryen.
robert and rhaegar were distant cousins!!
I am so happy to see someone else excited about his-story. I also got into studying the migrations and archiology of Indo-Iranians crossing Asia into Europe. The braided-ware people make up most of europe now. The Yamnaya and Scythians were savage just like Khal Drogo and Atilla the Hun
Thanks for taking the time to do these. This separates you from a lot of reactors 💪🏾
Good these are so much fun. Doesn’t matter how much I’ve seen them. I love this stuff. They did it perfectly using the character’s perspectives too and using he actors.
The two principal families from The War of the Roses were the houses of York and Lancaster. Sound familiar? Kind of like Stark and Lannister.
York vs Lancaster aka Stark vs Lannister, George was heavily inspired by the War of the Roses when writing a Game of Thrones.
3:52 tell me that's not colonisation...I wouldn't believe you if you did 😛
24:30 we see each other
I know you already finished the whole show and I am watching and commenting really late, but I enjoy your reactions so much it's like watching the show again and your commentary is great! and I am glad you watched these lore videos too they are really great. Love they are narrated by real cast of the show. I hope the new show "House of the dragon" does something similar like this :)
About history and His Story: 24:35 True! Also, they're not going to tell Her Story.
Dude this is my new favorite youtube channel, I love your content!
Thank you Nox I appreciate the support
Even look at the names.....
Lancaster = Lannister
York = Stark
Man, George R R Martin is such a genius
You dont want spoilers this is the greatest story ever told and martins unfinished version is going to be mental ...if he does finish it
I don’t know if you noticed but it was (Ice) was neds sword the sword of house stark, they used ice to execute Ned smh
He did notice and mention it, you just didn’t hear him
@@Blasto2x oh my bad lol cool
keep up the great videos, love how you're diving deep!
Not only did Aerys name Jaime to the Kingsguard, it leaves Tyrion as Tywin's heir.
you are correct. the war of the Roses was a major inspiration for ASoIaF
I can't get over how they're pronouncing "Tyrell" in this 😂
Yes brother!... I think you will find this helpful going ahead.
GoT is based on the War of the Roses…the York and the Lancaster
Thank you, may the Gods have many blessing upon you. Nobody ever reacts to these. You'll notice the perspective. York vs Lancasters War of the Roses.
Yesss I always say if King Areys married Cersei to Rhaegar their children would sit on the throne with Tywin’s help.
@@kk_33
I like Addy as an actor well enough, but his Robert was a little too far into the slovenly drunkard half of the character.
"The Yorks against the ...."
".... Lancasters"
Are you starting to see it? ;-)
Need to watch white princess, white queen, Spanish princess on stars. There seasons 1,2,and3 of the same series but act like different shows.
Westeros is based on England
🧢
Yeah George RR Martin based the main conflict loosely on the War of the Roses, good connection
…I think he-and everyone else-understands this.
@@Blasto2x no need to be snarky. I've seen other video reactions where they didnt realize it and was only trying to help. Geez.
@@cariparkerr1_girl369 It’s not snark unless you take it that way. I am merely speaking a fact as he just finished season 1 and he’s very astute so he recognizes the voices.
1:04:20 it sounds like you and Robert are having a actual conversation
Richard Neville (the king maker) didn't kill edward the 4th he let him out for a ride and he escaped. Edward the 4th died king in bed. And then the whole debacle with Richard 3rd and Edward (would have been 5th if he would have lived/corrinated ) started.
Dorne is in the South of Westeros Brother, they supported the Targaryens. Bless
theory: rhaella and her advisors left Elia Martell and her kids in kings landing bc they knew they would die.
that way they would have an opportunity to install their branch of the targaeyan fam as the heirs and restore the incestuous line (Dany and viserys) instead of the targaryan/martell bloodline. but then rhaella died and Dany and viserys had to go on the run.
Hi love your reactions so cool. ✌
51:56 FACTS, it’s fye
It is loosely based on The War of The Roses. The York's represent the Stark's and the Lancaster's are the Lannister's
Can't wait for s4 lmao.
