Makes it different and gives a lot of backstory, some of which we heard via other characters on the show. Don't know if you'll read the books, but I left the passage of Tywin's death below, if you're interested.
He found his father where he knew he'd find him, seated in the dimness of the privy tower, bedrobe hiked up around his hips. At the sound of steps, Lord Tywin raised his eyes.
Tyrion gave him a mocking half bow. "My lord."
"Tyrion." If he was afraid, Tywin Lannister gave no hint of it. "Who released you from your cell?"
"I'd love to tell you, but I swore a holy oath."
"The eunuch," his father decided. "I'll have his head for this. Is that my crossbow? Put it down."
"Will you punish me if I refuse, Father?"
"This escape is folly. You are not to be killed, if that is what you fear. It's still my intent to send you to the Wall, but I could not do it without Lord Tyrell's consent. Put down the crossbow and we will go back to my chambers and talk of it."
"We can talk here just as well. Perhaps I don't choose to go to the Wall, Father. It's bloody cold up there, and I believe I've had enough coldness from you. So just tell me something, and I'll be on my way. One simple question, you owe me that much."
    "I owe you nothing."
"You've given me less than that, all my life, but you'll give me this. What did you do with Tysha?"
    "Tysha?"
He does not even remember her name. "The girl I married."
    "Oh, yes. Your first whore."
Tyrion took aim at his father's chest. "The next time you say that word, I'll kill you."
"You do not have the courage."
"Shall we find out? It's a short word, and it seems to come so easily to your lips." Tyrion gestured impatiently with the bow. "Tysha. What did you do with her, after my little lesson?"
    "I don't recall."
"Try harder. Did you have her killed?"
His father pursed his lips. "There was no reason for that, she'd learned her place . . . and had been well paid for her day's work, I seem to recall. I suppose the steward sent her on her way. I never thought to inquire."
    "On her way where?"
    "Wherever whores go."
Tyrion's finger clenched. The crossbow whanged just as Lord Tywin started to rise. The bolt slammed into him above the groin and he sat back down with a grunt. The quarrel had sunk deep, right to the fletching. Blood seeped out around the shaft, dripping down into his pubic hair and over his bare thighs. "You shot me," he said incredulously, his eyes glassy with shock.
"You always were quick to grasp a situation, my lord," Tyrion said. "That must be why you're the Hand of the King."
    "You . . . you are no . . . no son of mine."
"Now that's where you're wrong, Father. Why, I believe I'm you writ small. Do me a kindness now, and die quickly. I have a ship to catch."
For once, his father did what Tyrion asked him. The proof was the sudden stench, as his bowels loosened in the moment of death. Well, he was in the right place for it, Tyrion thought. But the stink that filled the privy gave ample evidence that the oft-repeated jape about his father was just another lie.
Lord Tywin Lannister did not, in the end, shit gold.

“Lord Tywin Lannister did not, in the end, shit gold.” - Tyrion Lannister, A Storm of Swords
This is effectively the end of Act 1 of 3. The War of The Five Kings has hit a stalemate; The North belongs to The Boltons, House Baratheon is routed, The Greyjoys were pushed back to The Iron Islands, and with Tywin dead, The Lannister's have lost their patriarch and the one keeping the fragile alliance between Lannister & Tyrell afloat. Cersei is now effectively the head of House Lannister and we all know Margery & Olenna have no love for her. King's Landing itself also greatly despises her and The Boltons were aligned specifically to Tywin; not Cersei or Jaime.
With Mance captured, The Wildlings are no longer the big threat they were, which gives The Night's Watch some room to breathe. Stannis The Mannis coming in clutch!
Melisandre saw in the fire that the war of five kings means nothing after Davos read a letter from Maester Aemon that The Dead are coming for Westeros. She told Stannis the real war is in the north hence why he chose to aid The Night's Watch.
Edit: Fun fact, the crossbow Tyrion used to kill Tywin was Joffrey's.

The bells tolling meant they've found Tywin. It signifies a dead king or the death of some other important person, or a royal wedding, as Varys had told Tyrion back during Blackwater. Hearing the bells Varys immediately realizes what has transpired and decides the game isn't worth his skin anymore, he decides to up and leave too. Varys quitting KL shows you just how important this death is. Make no mistake this is probably the single most important death based on the political consequences it has for Westeros.

When Shae goes, "Tywin... my lion," the same nickname she had for Tyrion, that was that extra bit of betrayal. Sure, she loved Tyrion on some level and sure she was heartbroken at his harsh words to her, but she gave a testimony knowing it would lead to Tyrion's death. In a real world situation, hating my ex for hurting my feelings wouldn't be justification for lying on the stand to get my ex convicted and get the death penalty. That's taking revenge way too far! Even if she thought Twyin wouldn't go through with killing Tyrion, the fact that she moved on and decided to shack up with Tywin and say all the sweet things to him that she used to say to Tyrion means she's at least now trying to play the game. She's confirmed to now be corrupted by the goings of kings landing and wanting to come up in the world. I haven't forgiven her for lying and saying Sansa plotted Joffrey's murder with Tyrion either. Sansa was rude to Shae at first but she came around. She trusted Shae. And Shae just threw her under the bus. The same way you reacted to Shae in all these episodes is how I felt about her too. I appreciated the good things she did, but I never liked her either. I didn't feel like she needed to die, but I wasn't sad to see her go. If anything, I felt more concerned for what this would possibly do to Tyrion psychologically. The ramifications for killing someone he loved. Even if he hated her, he still had love in his heart for her and it only makes sense there would be consequences for that.

Probably, even enjoyed a lot of her life with Tyrion. However, she thought she was too good for even a fake real job. She wouldn't keep her mouth shut to protect herself or Tyrion. She wouldn't listen to Varys or Tyrion or Bronn or Pod (probably) about getting set up in another place and keeping everyone safe.

Stannis is a man driven by his sense of duty.
He sees it as his duty as king to rule over Westeros and defend the realm.
When he hears of the attack on the Night's Watch, he sails north to defend the kingdom.
In addition, there is Melisandre, who sees him as Azor Ahai reborn, the hero who ends the Long Night.
She sees him as a leader against the threat in the north.
Her goal is not to help someone rise to power in some petty war, but she sees herself as a character in a larger game, the war of good against evil, light against darkness, life against death, ice against fire, that is what her religion is all about.

I think it’s more then just that. I think Arya has a real darkness in her that’s growing the more she kills and just lives in this world. In that moment when the Hound started bringing up his past misdeeds and terrible regrets Arya remembered why he was on her list in the first place and he didn’t deserve that mercy. She says this in her inner thoughts in the books but I think there was more to it which is what you said above. I think a part she didn’t vocalize was she didn’t want to be the one to put his lights out for good. She knew he made an effort to help her and has thought her some dark but valuable lessons. So glad you mentioned the music! Its an incredible element of the show and it adds a lot of feeling/meaning to the shows scenes. For example, when Dany is chaining her children/dragons, the song that is playing is called breaker of chains. Which is sadly ironic because one of Danys titles is the Breaker of chains. She freed the people of slavers bay and became their mhysa but in return she had to chain her children to keep them safe! :(
There are many examples of this with other characters in the show. Many thanks to Ramin Djawadi, he really helped elevate the show.

They changed a very important thing in this episode that kind of made it a bit non-sense. When Jaime free Tyrion he confessed that Tysha never was a prostitute, Tywin made him lie about it, so Tysha was actually a girl who loved tyrion. That is why Tyrion go to kill his father, that is why Tyrion say "do not call her a whore". Tysha!.

I look at the Tyrion ending as that tiny silver lining inside a nightmare world of pitch black darkness. It's so tiny, but so bright! The rare upbeat Stark music at the end always gets me. You know this is peak GoT when you have that extended shot of Tyrion and Shae lying in bed, in that "head to head" position from every Y/A movie poster ever. They have met with a lot of resistance.
Faith waged war against the crown in the early history of the Targaryen dynasty.
This is the reason why the Faith lost its military arm.
For that reason alone, no one would accept the incest between Jaime and Cersei, not to mention that the claim to the throne is derived from Robert and the children were conceived outside of marriage and are therefore bastards.

I may be way off base here but to me it feels like Stannis didn't want to have to worry about the wildling threat in the north while he was fighting his campaign for the Seven Kingdoms. It also kinda makes sense to start from the north seeing as he doesn't have any major allies in Westeros so his position would have been surrounded from multiple sides if he started from Storm's End with a much smaller army than he had in season 2.

Yeah, I see the point, but you also have to consider in which situations Bran used it.
The first time in the tower to shut Hodor down, because otherwise the Wildlings most likely would spot and kill them.
The second time is dubios. He entered Hodors Body just save himself from that Bolton guy, that tried to kidnap him and bring him to Lord Bolton. I mean okay, they escaped because of that. Bran didn't know which side was winning and what was going on so you could argue he tried to save the whole group.
This time now he clearly saved Hodor, not himself, not Jojen, just Hodor who didn't even defend himself.
It's like giving CPR and breaking a few ribs in the process. If you take the rib smashing out of context, it's a pretty messed up thing to do.

"I know a little of this man, Sandor Clegane. He was Prince Joffrey's sworn shield for many a year, and even here we would hear tell of his deeds, both good and ill. If even half of what we heard was true, this was a bitter, tormented soul, a sinner who mocked both gods and men. He served, but found no pride in service. He fought, but took no joy in victory. He drank, to drown his pain in a sea of wine. He did not love, nor was he loved himself. It was hate that drove him. Though he committed many sins, he never sought forgiveness. Where other men dream of love, or wealth, or glory, this man Sandor Clegane dreamed of slaying his own brother, a sin so terrible it makes me shudder just to speak of it. Yet that was the bread that nourished him, the fuel that kept his fires burning. Ignoble as it was, the hope of seeing his brother's blood upon his blade was all this sad and angry creature lived for . . . and even that was taken from him, when Prince Oberyn of Dorne stabbed Ser Gregor with a poisoned spear."
"You sound as if you pity him," said Brienne.
"I did. You would have pitied him as well, if you had seen him at the end. I came upon him by the Trident, drawn by his cries of pain. He begged me for the gift of mercy, but I am sworn not to kill again. Instead, I bathed his fevered brow with river water, and gave him wine to drink and a poultice for his wound, but my efforts were too little and too late. The Hound died there, in my arms. You may have seen a big black stallion in our stables. That was his warhorse, Stranger. A blasphemous name. We prefer to call him Driftwood, as he was found beside the river. I fear he has his former master's nature."

    A Storm of Swords - Jon X:
    "Stannis! Stannis! STANNIS!"
................."Believe what you will," Jon told the King-beyond-the-Wall, "but I knew nothing of any attack."
Harma thundered past before Mance could reply, riding at the head of thirty raiders. Her standard went before her; a dead dog impaled on a spear, raining blood at every stride. Mance watched as she smashed into the rangers. "Might be you're telling it true," he said. "Those look like Eastwatch men. Sailors on horses. Cotter Pyke always had more guts than sense. He took the Lord of Bones at Long Barrow, he might have thought to do the same with me. If so, he's a fool. He doesn't have the men, he-"
"Mance!" the shout came. It was a scout, bursting from the trees on a lathered horse. "Mance, there's more, they're all around us, iron men, iron, a host of iron men."
Cursing, Mance swung up into the saddle. "Varamyr, stay and see that no harm comes to Dalla." The King-beyond-the-Wall pointed his sword at Jon. "And keep a few extra eyes on this crow. If he runs, rip out his throat."
"Aye, I'll do that." The skinchanger was a head shorter than Jon, slumped and soft, but that shadowcat could disembowel him with one paw. "They're coming from the north too," Varamyr told Mance. "You best go.".............................
"There." Jon pointed. "Gone to fight." The king led his ragged wedge into a knot of rangers, his sword flashing.
"Gone? He can't be gone, not now. It's started."
"The battle?" He watched the rangers scatter before Harma's bloody dog's head. The raiders screamed and hacked and chased the men in black back into the trees. But there were more men coming from the wood, a column of horse. Knights on heavy horse, Jon saw. Harma had to regroup and wheel to meet them, but half of her men had raced too far ahead.
Trumpets were blowing all around, loud and brazen. The wildlings have no trumpets, only warhorns. They knew that as well as he did; the sound sent free folk running in confusion, some toward the fighting, others away. A mammoth was stomping through a flock of sheep that three men were trying to herd off west. The drums were beating as the wildlings ran to form squares and lines, but they were too late, too disorganized, too slow. The enemy was emerging from the forest, from the east, the northeast, the north; three great columns of heavy horse, all dark glinting steel and bright wool surcoats. Not the men of Eastwatch, those had been no more than a line of scouts. An army. The king? Jon was as confused as the wildlings. Could Robb have returned? Had the boy on the Iron Throne finally bestirred himself? .............
Across the field one column had washed over Harma Dogshead. Another smashed into the flank of Tormund's spearmen as he and his sons desperately tried to turn them. The giants were climbing onto their mammoths, though, and the knights on their barded horses did not like that at all; he could see how the coursers and destriers screamed and scattered at the sight of those lumbering mountains. But there was fear on the wildling side as well, hundreds of women and children rushing away from the battle, some of them blundering right under the hooves of garrons. He saw an old woman's dog cart veer into the path of three chariots, to send them crashing into each other.
East and north and northeast, he saw bands of wildlings trying to stand and fight, but the attackers rode right over them. The free folk still had the numbers, but the attackers had steel armor and heavy horses. In the thickest part of the fray, Jon saw Mance standing tall in his stirrups. His red-and-black cloak and raven-winged helm made him easy to pick out. He had his sword raised and men were rallying to him when a wedge of knights smashed into them with lance and sword and longaxe. Mance's mare went up on her hind legs, kicking, and a spear took her through the breast. Then the steel tide washed over him.
It's done, Jon thought, they're breaking. The wildlings were running, throwing down their weapons, Hornfoot men and cave dwellers and Thenns in bronze scales, they were running. Mance was gone, someone was waving Harma's head on a pole, Tormund's lines had broken. Only the giants on their mammoths were holding, hairy islands in a red steel sea. The fires were leaping from tent to tent and some of the tall pines were going up as well. And through the smoke another wedge of armored riders came, on barded horses. Floating above them were the largest banners yet, royal standards as big as sheets; a yellow one with long pointed tongues that showed a flaming heart, and another like a sheet of beaten gold, with a black stag prancing and rippling in the wind.
Robert, Jon thought for one mad moment, remembering poor Owen, but when the trumpets blew again and the knights charged, the name they cried was "Stannis! Stannis! STANNIS!"
Jon turned away, and went inside the tent.

10:25, Stannis, (book Stannis, as the writers decide to paint a darker version of him for the show ,as they highly favored his younger brother Renly) is the King Who Cared, and the only one who comes to protect the Night's Watch when they call for aid.
"Lord Seaworth is a man of humble birth, but he reminded me of my duty, when all I could think of was my rights. I had the cart before the horse, Davos said. I was trying to win the throne to save the kingdom, when I should have been trying to save the kingdom to win the throne." Stannis pointed north. "There is where I'll find the enemy I was born to fight."
This man grows so much as a character. His new intent and worldview becomes to protect the Kingdom and it's people, and by that way win support for the Throne.

There are quite a few articles that say Kit (John Snow) met her while filming GOT but no biggie. I think Hodor doesn't mind Bran taking over because if he didn't they would die. We don't know what Hodor would want since he really doesn't express himself so we can all just speculate. LOL, I knew you would react this way when you saw what happened to Shay and Tywin. Boy oh Boy I can't wait to see how you react to the rest of GOT.

This episode is just bonkers! So much happens, it's my #3 favorite episode in the entire series. If you think about it, when Tyrion killed Tywin, he paid his debt to Oberyn for fighting in his trial by combat (though not the reason he killed Tywin, still...). Oberyn wanted to get the person responsible for his sister and her children's murder, and that was Tywin who ordered it. A Lannister Always Pays His Debts.

Tyrion comforting Tywin at the end is similar to Tony comforting Frank/Mel in Scarface lol but Tywin wasn't pleading with him. Lol he killed him on the throne alright...The porcelain throne 😂

Ngl I think the hound was genuinely just trying to make Arya angry to kill him cos he knew begging wouldn’t work. Before he started the insults he said he’s ready to die and she just sat there

The Hound definitely had a soft spot for the Stark girls. He was one of the more emotionally literate ppl in this show, imo, and so smart, he just was hardened and rugged and it didn’t show through in obvious ways especially in the beginning when he’d shut it off. But he genuinely hated Joffrey I think bc he genuinely hated how he was and he likewise cared for those girls for sure, I think in a pretty profound way at points. I like to think part of it is because he endured childhood trauma of his own with no one to advocate for him. He was kind of the final barrier between them and a world that rlly didn’t give a shit about their well-being.

This is the season where I caught up. Watched seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4 back to back, then waited a few months to catch season 5 when it came out - can’t wait for your season 5 ep 1 review soon!

I'm glad the little lord in the next room let you finish this episode. I agree with you. I've never seen another tv show come close to GOT. I wonder if I ever will. I was wondering what you thought of Jojen's sister, Mira. She's a little badass.

The chains used to strangle Shae with were given to her as a gift by Tyrion in season 3, episode 7. Kind of ironic that he ended up killing her with them.
