The most important fact that is missing from this discussion. One can't be talking about bringing two groups together when Africans arent one monolithic group to start with. I doubt the Nigerians, Kenyans, Ethiopians , South Africans all identify as one group , one voice, one culture etc. To further show how complex this is there are class differences, religion and ethnic background difference as well, even among people from the same country.

There's nothing complex you guys just don't have African Pride you have Kenyan Pride or Ethiopian Pride or South African Pride you don't have black pride which is the reason why black Americans are more united than Africans and I'm talking about the entirety of the continent if it wasn't like that you guys would have kicked out most of North Africa and at least 5% of South Africa and there wouldn't be any Asians or outside forces trying to help build up your country because you wouldn't need help Africa is the most populated and resourceful E rich area in the world you guys should have put together a rescue mission or something for us you had the money you had the resources you had the Manpower Africa failed the World by not uniting against it
Yh you're right, I was saying the same thing just the other day, even in say Nigeria, the hausa tribe and yoroba tribe dont have anything in common

Even though I am a 16-year-old African-American girl, I've always wondered how Africa feel about us not being in the motherland ( Africa ) after the slavery happened because I will really be having hallucinations about what if I was born in Africa instead of the US. And I want to go over there and visit. In my opinion, Africans really go first before African-Americans. Because of all these rumors about Diaspora War, Blk America Vs. Africa is really stupid. I mentally, emotionally, and physically love my African brothers, mothers, sisters, fathers, and etc from the bottom of my heart!
black americans have been going to africa since the days of the creation of africa, some slaves were even freed during slavery and sent back! my grandmother and my sisters husband are africans with black american origin!
From my experience, I have seen a deep hatred many African Americans have for Africans. I have experienced it on numerous occasions. But there are also numerous Africans that look down on African Americans. It all comes down to self hate and cultural differences. The younger generations are getting better, and I am happy to see Nigerian music for example getting adopted into American mainstream. It will take time for the ignorance to fizzle out, which will happen with more exposure to each other on both sides, but we are slowly moving in the right direction.
African diaspora everywhere, see the good things of yourself, learn from each other and have compassion towards each other. Blacks from everywhere ARE a loving people.

I never saw the divide between African-Americans and Africans! People might be different due to different cultures, countries, languages, food types, etc... I think people are just exaggerating! Nigeria and Ghana are not the only countries in Africa by the way. So why when people talk about African immigrants, they usually refer to Nigerians only? There are more other Africans, let us not generalize like that. There are more than 1 billion people living in Africa.

The strangest part is that many African Americans maternal and paternal lines are also from along the Rice Coast (Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Ivory Coast) and from the modern countries of Burkina Faso, Mali, Cameroon, Congo and Angola. Yet those other places are hardly ever talked about even though remnants of the Upper Guinea Rice Coast culture still exists in the USA today in the form of stuff like the Blues.

this is why africans piss me off. 22.37 killmonger was not his own person. that guy saw what he wanted to see. killmonger was a sybol of a people apart. his ancestor was african killed by another african (his brother). his brother accused and called him a fanatic because he was thinking of africans worldwide and not just wakanda, and the tribes within that one country. similar to african americans sold by other africans through war and conquest. the african american is a combination of many tribes where as africans mostly pride themselves on their tribe and culture. they see us a different, beatin colonialized and no longer africans so they misunderstand. The other guy at 24.21 there is another misunderstanding. Most african americans dont know where they come from. Most want toknow but africa is a continent and answers no questions, and thats as a result of slvery. People want to know what countries they came from, what tribe they are from, language and culture but it was stripped away. They guy sounds smart but his answer to that is, to open a book. ok so you open a book, but where do you start, which people or tribe pertains to you? how do you know? research? you mean by records that lead to dead ends? because thats the history. my great grandma doesnt have a birth certificate. I think africans dont fully understand, and i think they sit on a really high horse. He notes that afro brazilians say thats a great idea, seperating them from african americans. If it wasnt for my family being apart of a sub group of african americans called the gullah I would be totally lost. I wouldnt know which tribes to look at, i wouldnt know where to begin. otherwise i could learn about india and say im indian because im black. I wouldnt be able to tell you an indian tribe which is an important dynamic in indian culture. I would be black a slave taken with no place. apply that indian comment to africa.
When the guy who made that comment can tell an african american which tribe they come from then he can say there is no excuse. because as it stands i can learn about africa all day, but if i cant make a direct connection there will always be a hole.

I'm African and I get part of what you're saying about us, and about your urge to know where you're from. I fully get the part that it's not possible to point out which country or tribe you come from. We love you guys and share in your pain and in your joy. Many of us yearn for a connection with you and I hope that these discussions result in closer relationships between us. Please don't take a few individuals to represent an entire continent. I've also had bad experiences with African Americans. I met a European guy when I was young (penpal), he was friends with a Canadian. Later the European guy met an African American. This African American didn't want anything to do with me completely. He later became friends with the Canadian. I've always felt sad knowing I wanted to be friends with him too but anyways, it is what it is. However, I can't use that experience to define all African Americans. Let's strive for closeness. We are bound together by our ancestry. We're stronger than we know. Together.

I was really disappointed with this video. I thought Africans were going to be interviewed in Africa. I would prefer to hear what Africans who have never been to the USA think of African Americans.
As an African, i find that most African Americans are generally very ignorant about Africa.
The biggest misconception that many African Americans hold is
Africa=Black
Africa is called the most diverse continent on Earth for Reason, we have native people who range from dark skin to pale skin.
They not ignorant about Africa cuz Americans don't know anything about the world, so they're ignorant about everyone.
And many Africans have a misconception of African American history and chattel slavery. This impacts a lot. I've heard many Africans say that learning about AA history helped to change a lot of negativity.
Blacks are the indigenous people of African continent. That's our home land. We were on the land before anybody existed on that land
Wakonda is in America not in Africa. Look it up. Tchula "tchala" is in Mississippi. Look it up. Tchula (a chief) was part of the Tula. Long before Africans showed up on slave ships. Why make a movie about a fake place in Africa, when a real place(s) in America exist, and why use black people? They could have made black panther an Indian and wakonda really spelled wakonta a nation of native Americans. Further more the bald head brother says the trans Atlantic slave trade reshaped the lives of Africans and eventually African Americans yet one lady says before she left Africa she knew nothing of slavery. She learned about this in America. If the slave trade was such a big deal how could this young lady no know about it in her nation where the slave were shipped from?
Africans are generally very ignorant about the USA's history. Many Africans learn the hard way what African Americans could have advised them of in the beginning of their Americanization, however I have met a number of Africans that don't understand how sick, perverted an prejudiced America really is and they don't think that African Americans can tell them anything. That second and third generation of Africans in the USA usually understand exactly what the issues are.
It starts by recognizing and checking the privilege that we have over black Americans in the US, and by dropping that bigotry ish.

this is very intreresting and i get what the black american community is going through in this situation. i will say its the same thing in every culture tbh kinda sad but true asian americans are not totally excepted even adopted versions they are not the same but the adopted people will be excepted in a way that they are not totally obliterated from their heritage. if you are from nigerian and u came from naijaland i think thats what nigerian people call their land you are nigerian even when in america. if you are nigerian american born in america you are a culture halfie not nigerian. it feels very wierd for people to accept an adopted person becuz it looks like them but doesnt speak like them so its kinda wierd. if an african american was returning to america from nigeria that would be wierd cuz that doesnt really make sense its kinda of the same thing in any culture honestly.

I get the nastiest looks from African women, mainly in the workplace and sometimes in public. I am cordial and respectful and they say nothing and when I did talk to them it was with attitude.
But I have met some that was nice and down to earth.

I'm white I do not consider myself European or any other part of genetic history. My skin is white but I am American. I do not understand black Americans calling themselves African. I do not understand pushy black Americans trying to get blacks from other countries to join some weird commoradery. I don't look at some white from Scotland and think I need to commune with them. It is better to worry about where your headed instead of where your ancestors came from.
