I am sold...I am a senior however enjoy learning more about Mac. When i started my journey in computing Mac was not on my horizon. I enjoy using Mac more and more each day. Thank you for all of your great tutorials David A. Cox.
Thank you so much for showing this app. When I first saw Alfred, I was blown away with all the functions that it has. You are the first that i've really seen demonstrate many of the features. Sweet!!
This has been simply fantastic; I have had the paid Alfred v2 for some time now and never fully understood (even when trying to follow other RUclips posts), how to use it effectively, UNTIL NOW. To be honest I've never heard of David A. Cox before but now I'll be a dedicated subscriber. Can't express my apprecition enough...thank you.
Your 1password data is stored heavily encrypted using your masterkey locally on your machine unless you have it sync using something like dropbox. It's a lot safer than using the same password over and over again. That's not to say it _couldn't_ be compromised, but honestly, I think it's a better security solution than most, including keepass, which stores your data on their servers.
+jpat09 I downvoted this video because of his criticism of 1Password.. Not because of his telling people not to use alfred integration with it, but just telling people to not use 1P is silly... He's ill-informed and that's a shame.
I agree, it's ridiculous to recommend against 1password, when they offer a standalone solution, do not require you to sync your data over the internet, and don't require you to store your personal and private data (vaults) in the cloud or on their server.
David, could you please explain Wolfram? I see it's in the search query section of Alfred in your vid. I actually added it as a Chrome app but have never gotten around to using it.
So The Alfred is... basically a replacement for Mac OS Spotlight. My question is this then - is there any use of spotlight that Alfred CAN'T do and if so - can we (somehow) - shut down spotlight and use this as a default (with command+space)?
Very nice. Thanks for this one. Now, if I can find out how to get my LIVE mail to work inside Apple mail, I could use my Macbook Pro more. Thanks for this tutorial.
I have downloaded the Workflow for Evernote in Alfred and it looks complicated to set up keyboard shortcuts. Is it something you would like to explain in a tutorial.
@David A. Cox, I don't have the Powerpack and was wondering if Alfred Powerpack would allow me to create a Workflow or something that would automatically turn OFF notifications every time I start an app, say, Zoom (Zoom.us). I might like to add a few more actions besides turning OFF notifications. TIA
do I need to get a paid version of this? I do not seem to have all these features . If I say open it does not find my files....for accessories I only have calculator and spelling whited out. I don't have contacts emailing as a feature at all......
How does it compare with LaunchBar? Personally I find myself more productive in LaunchBar than I've been able to be with Alfred, but perhaps I missed something.
Good teaching David. Alfred is a good software to have for Seniors, to keep track of things or help memory. I will invest 28 Dollars on it if it works Macbook Pro, does it?
Hi David ...i need a RUclips downloader in my iMac I try one but it's says it can harm my computer so I cancel to download do you have any idea what to download ...?thanks
can somebody help? on tab features, i only have default and file search, there are no dictionary etc. does anyone know how to apply them? or can solve this issue? thanks
I type "Im" (to do a google image search like you did) and al it comes up with is a long list of apps that have "Im" in them..stupid alfred won't even let me remove the apps folder from searches (it's greyed out in prefs)..I can use spotlight to search for apps, why won't it let me deselect them!! Grrr
***** Just wanted add a bit of information for this tutorial regarding the HotKeys set-up. I thought I'd add this because my version of Alfred has is slightly different preference set-up. There's a HotKey button available in Alfred Preferrences. I left some screenshots in my Skydrive account for the public to view. On a side note: Had even set a HotKey to launch Camouflage to hide my desktop while taking screenshots. Link: 1drv.ms/1reZ7iR
Oh dear problems already with this software! I clicked for search and interface disappeared! Now all i can get is the small narrow box. So can't set things up.
Still very helpful video (thx!), since Alfred did not change much, if at all, since 2014. But sorry, 1Password is the safest way to handle credentials!
A lot of the features on Alfred, including Workflows, are only on the paid "Powerpack Version". So Free users can't use those features, unfortunately. If you think you will use Alfred a lot, I would definitely recommend purchasing the Powerpack because you get so many extra powerful features!

1Password is definitely the saves method to manage your credentials!
with no doubt the best review for this app so far.
Thank you David. Your El Capitan OS X Tutorial brought me to this video. You are awesome! I've learnt a lot.
This is life-changing. Is there any way to use a hotkey to open the application in fullscreen mode?
Thanks David; your video tutorials, and your thoughtful delivery are outstanding ~
Thanks David for this nice video! Could you please say something about the difference between paid and free version of alfred?
It’s also good for power users, who want something a lot more functional and customizable than Spotlight.
Thanks for the effort on making this video, useful and no wasting any second!
I can't use contacts, clipboard, iTunes, 1Password, Workflows, and Custom Appearances without the powerpack version
Wow! This is the most amazing app! I instantly bought the upgrade. Thanks for all the tips! You rock!

Thank you David. Your El Capitan OS X Tutorial brought me to this video. You are awesome! I've learnt a lot.

Nice video. Is there any equivalent of alfred for windows 8 ?
So The Alfred is... basically a replacement for Mac OS Spotlight. My question is this then - is there any use of spotlight that Alfred CAN'T do and if so - can we (somehow) - shut down spotlight and use this as a default (with command+space)?
Good introduction to a great app!
Very nice. Thanks for this one. Now, if I can find out how to get my LIVE mail to work inside Apple mail, I could use my Macbook Pro more. Thanks for this tutorial.

GREAT video well done!! thanks from friends and fans Amsterdam Holland!!
Your videos are great and very informative.
Lovely app. Thanks for explaining.
GREAT CLASS, but really it seems just like "SPOTLIGHT" , maybe a little more advanced but I don't know if it is worth the 30 dollars for it.
Any suggestions Alfred Vs launchbar ?
useful... wondering is Alfred moonlights on the PC?
Very interesting video but it would be great if you could do a more in depth video about Alfred.
I did not yet started watching this video but i think i am going to love it!
I have downloaded the Workflow for Evernote in Alfred and it looks complicated to set up keyboard shortcuts. Is it something you would like to explain in a tutorial.
Dave, is it possible to extract pdf highlights using Alfred? Automator doesn't really do it even though it has the inbuilt function for it.
@David A. Cox, I don't have the Powerpack and was wondering if Alfred Powerpack would allow me to create a Workflow or something that would automatically turn OFF notifications every time I start an app, say, Zoom (Zoom.us). I might like to add a few more actions besides turning OFF notifications. TIA
thanks , was very useful
I am beginning to love Alfred thanks to your video. However, when i OPEN Facebook, iTunes pops up. What's up with that?
do I need to get a paid version of this? I do not seem to have all these features . If I say open it does not find my files....for accessories I only have calculator and spelling whited out. I don't have contacts emailing as a feature at all......
What makes this better than spotlight?
Is Alfred you use in the video the Powerpack?
How does it compare with LaunchBar? Personally I find myself more productive in LaunchBar than I've been able to be with Alfred, but perhaps I missed something.
awesome. Thank you again! Great video.
you have more options than me under feature, do you have the paid version?
Good teaching David. Alfred is a good software to have for Seniors, to keep track of things or help memory. I will invest 28 Dollars on it if it works Macbook Pro, does it?

When he said this app is for seniors...
That really hurt
Woohoo, I fit 2 out of the three user groups that would benefit from Alfred 🤣
