This was such a warm welcome to Alfred. I love the way you've described all the features whilst making me laugh throughout. Honestly one of the best videos out there. Thanks!
My last Mac was an iBook G3 Snow White back in 2002. As someone returning to Macs (kudos MBA M1) your video was a real masterclass about using Alfred for daily tasks. The production of the video is top-notch, and you are a good teacher. As a foreigner, I should remark that your calm pace and clear pronunciation made me enjoy your entire class with no problems at all. Muito obrigado.
Oddly enough, I just watched your previous Alfred video two days ago. This one is much better. I got a lot from v.1, but it was too fast for me to pick up everything. This went at a much more usable pace. Good work. I've had Alfred for a while, but was not utilizing it well. Now I will!
Thank you! Fab intro, to the point tips. I had it installed as soon as I got my first ever Mac last month, but never really saw how it could help me. It's so deep, almost too much to toy with, I love it!
@@TheProductivityShop David Sparks/Mac Sparky introduced me to Alfred, but you are the coach. Your videos are the equivalent of when somebody says you only use 10% of your brain. You make us realize that we're only using 10% of the app.
Yay! So happy you released this series. Alfred has become essential for my search stuff but I've felt like I haven't been using it to it's full potential. Really enjoyed this video, thank you!
Your intro is so funny! I'm super interested in everything related to the Alfred app. I saw all your Alfred videos and I'm looking forward to your new videos with your own funny and serious at the same time style, I like your way of communicating to us how it is work. Congratulations on your job 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I'm not a designer but I'd still be interested to see a brief video of how you use your stylus as a mouse, and why you prefer that particular setup. BTW, I got the powerpack last week and let them know it was thanks to you!
Hey there, yeah I saw it came out! I don't really build my own workflows outside of simple keyboard shortcuts but will take some time to look into it eventually!
I used to quit applications with Alfred all the time. But what you can do instead is... You know how you command-tab to switch applications ? Well you can press command + tab, keep holding command and then press "q" to quit the application. You can quit multiple applications like this
Yep I’m familiar with that shortcut and use it a bunch, I like using Alfred so the application doesn’t activate and closes in the background. Both ways are great!
I am LOVING this video series! Thank you so much! I want to spring for the powerpack, but I have one major gripe so far, and I can't find the answer to it on Alfred's help files on their site. You seem like an expert, so I'm hoping you'll know. I'm not sure if I've set something up wrong, or if Alfred just doesn't have this functionality.... but why doesn't it include Notes in the search results? I use apple notes for everything, and I love that Spotlight searches notes. Is there a way to get Alfred to do this too? Cheers from Ontario, Canada!
Hi there, glad you like the videos and thanks for watching! Re: Notes, from what I can tell, Mac keeps the notes inside of a database and not individual files, which makes it hard for Alfred to search. There do seem to be some workflows out there (PowerPack required) to be able to search through your notes database. I'd do some hunting on Packal and Github (or youtube) to see if there is a workaround! www.alfredforum.com/topic/10213-alfred-doesnt-seem-to-find-apple-notes/ github.com/sballin/alfred-search-notes-app www.packal.org/workflow/search-apple-notes
Hey there, I did look into raycast and it does seem to have a lot of cool features, but I found it to be rather expensive for the paid version. For now, it’s a dealbreaker for me but I’m sure there are some good raycast videos out there since it’s pretty popular.
Hi @@TheProductivityShop , Do you know any application to catalog files from external disks and then allow us to do a search of which disk each file is on? If it's free it would be great. Thanks! Diego
@@DiegoKantor I don't know a program that is free, but NeoFinder is what I use. It's an older program so there might be something better out there. prodshop.co/drives
You're my reference when I need to know how to utilize Alfred! Thanks a lot! The quality of this video and the audio are cool!!!! In the system options, what is the difference bw SLEEP and LOCK? À bientôt :)
Thanks for watching!! Sleep will put your hard disks to sleep, and lock will keep them awake but activate the screen saver that requires a password for entry.
I just discovered Alfred and I'm loving it! Question though, I use 2 Google Chrome browsers, one for my personal accounts and another for my work accounts. I want to get Alfred to open a search my Google Drive, but only on my school account. Is there a way to program it to do that?
Yep, I used to have the same thing. Essentially, add two "google drive searches" in custom Web searches, and then have different keywords. For my personal I would do "ldrive", for Luke Drive, and then "adrive" for when I worked at Airbnb.
@@TheProductivityShop Thanks! I got that figured out but when I search, it's still opening in my personal 'browser' which doesn't have access to my school account. I have to have the school 'browser' open for it to work properly right now
I find the app very interesting, but I miss one point that Apple Spotlight fulfills wonderfully: Spotlight also searches the contents of documents - which is very useful for my work. I somehow don't get that with Alfred - which I find very unfortunate. Or can someone help me?
Hi, in Mac OS we can preview a document by pressing the space bar. Do you know if it is possible to show the same preview a file from an Alfred's search result ?

How do I search for only one type of file with a certain name? For example images on my computer with x name. Thanks for sharing the information.
Try doing ‘PartialName .extension’ (making sure there is a space between.
