Fist time on your channel. This was really well done. Concise, informative, and helpful, without any unnecessary fluff or distracting music. Thank you!
thank you! I used Quicksilver for years - wanted to automate with the stream deck and found your Alfred overview (which was excellent btw).. and YT suggested your Raycast video. Thank you SO much!
Thanks, Paul. You’ve got me convinced of giving it a try. I have used Launchbar for 1.5 year but I find it quite cumbersome to learn how to use the multiple features it offers. Raycast looks simple and intuitive. I look forward to trying this app. And certainly look forward to attending more of your videos.
This is exactly what I’ve been looking at. Saw a video a year ago about best apps to ease your workflow on Mac. This app was on the list, but it didn’t explain how to use and then I just abandoned it. Thanks for the video
As always great video. Question: I saw that you can add a new reminder in recast. That doesn't appear in my version. I can only launch the app. Did you install an extension ?
Hi Paul, great video. Thank you so much. Especially the "create reminder" functionality is appealing to me but I cannot find this command in the list. Is it a standard command or did you create it?
Great video, Paul! Objective and very informative! I also really like the idea that you promoted the app just because you liked it and it is really good. I am definitely trying it out now. You got yourself a new subscriber! Thanks for the video and keep up the good work!
NIce video. Thanks. Just started using Alfred, and it came with a bunch of precoded snippets, system functions, etc. With raycast do I need to do everything from scratch?
Great introduction to Raycast, Paul! I really like how organised your Apple shortcuts folder is at 9:40 - can reveal how I can make those categories myself?
Hello Paul. Just a question about an other thing. How did you add the 3 Symbols next to the back Button on 1:49 minute in Safari? :) P.S.: Great Video.
They probably would be. However, if you use a password manager like 1Password, they come with settings which prevent passwords from being copied to your clipboard.
frankly saying, things have been very easy to set up in Raycast for the most part. And it contains a lot of extensions. the free Alfred can be a very good lightweight search tool, for searching Mac, executing system commands, and saving quick links stuff for searching the internet, only that. you can use it if you feel Raycast is overwhelming. I haven't used the paid version of Alfred, I just explored the free version in sometime and removed it.
Its too confusing. And you have to type so much just to do one thing. I just uninstalled everything and just use spotlight now, so much simpler and doesn't disrupt my workflow. Also, Raycast is VC backed and not that secure. You know how they say, if its free you are the product.

Great, just what I was going for 👍

Great overview. I was an Alfred user for years as well, but just switched over to Raycast last year.
Thanks, glad this was useful!
Thank you so much. I've had this thing installed for the longest time and never used it, as I didn't give it a chance.
Glad this helped!
Raycast is the first app I install when setting up a Mac. It just makes life that wee bit easier.
I usually have to install 1Password first but Raycast isn't far behind.

First time I have seen your videos. Most helpful; I look forward to seeing more!

For Apple Reminders you mean? Yes this is an extension.
Excellent video Paul! Would love to see a Part II 😁
Thanks, what should I cover in part 2?
@@minor-co Clipboard History, Raycast AI, Window Management, Floating Notes and real-life scenarios of when you use such commands!
Thanks!
Thanks, that was anice introduction to Raycast with some real life examples.
Glad I could help!
Nice walkthrough! Would be nice to include a link in the description.
Thanks, I've updated the description now 👍
Hi Paul, great video. Thank you so much. Especially the "create reminder" functionality is appealing to me but I cannot find this command in the list. Is it a standard command or did you create it?
Thanks, this is an extension you have to install: www.raycast.com/raycast/apple-reminders

There are a lot of out of the box features all ready to go, but some set up is also needed.
Very well done Paul. Thanks for your video. Very useful. You should teach as a job.
Thanks, glad this was useful!
thanks a lot bro, raycast it´s insane
You're welcome 😀
You just saved me hours. Thanks!
Glad I could help!
good overview, loved it.
Glad I could help!
@@minor-co haha. sure. and the 17 mins were not even a bit boring, they can feature it.
in multiple spaces , how do you open new instance of an app without going to another space for already opened app
Hm, I'm not sure that's possible to be honest. This is the default behaviour.
Great introduction to Raycast, Paul! I really like how organised your Apple shortcuts folder is at 9:40 - can reveal how I can make those categories myself?
Thanks. You can create the folders from 'File » New Folder'
Thanks, I love raycast. The problem is, there’s so much it can do, it’s difficult to decide what to try to remember!
Just start small and you'll form new habits with it over time.
Hello Paul. Just a question about an other thing. How did you add the 3 Symbols next to the back Button on 1:49 minute in Safari? :)
P.S.: Great Video.
Those are pinned tabs. If you right-click a tab, you can pin it to the left.
I have a question: When I type in my passwords for log in to - lets say - my bank accounts - are they too visible in the clipboard history?
They probably would be. However, if you use a password manager like 1Password, they come with settings which prevent passwords from being copied to your clipboard.
Thanks, how did you get your FaceTime shortcuts to have a facetime icon? Mine appear as the shortcuts app
I think there must have been an update or something as mine now have the Shortcuts app icon as well.
Good vid. I'm switching from Alfred right now! :)
👍
Will try this
👍
Thank you
Thanks!
Is there anything which Alfred does better than Raycast?
It's been a while now since I used Alfred. Yeah there probably is but I'm really enjoying Raycast

Typinator > Text Expander.

man, at spotlight result press cmd+c to copy result
👍
Does anyone who uses Raycast think it's good and not just more app clutter?
Personally I LOVE it!
Thank you Ethan Hawke!
Haha, you're not the first person to make that comparison!
Quick Silver is better for me over all another tool like
👍
Alfred just looks like it is 2004
Yeah, I really like the more modern feel of Raycast.
Time to remove maccy and alfred
I was sorry to let Alfred go but Raycast is sooo good!
@@minor-co i also deleted magnet when i got to know about window management in raycast
Paul, thank you for this introduction. Do you know if there’s a way to search for bookmarks with Raycast?
Time to buy a mac 😅

Yeah, for some people, Spotlight (which is nice and simple) is best. I'm not concerned about their model, they have a paid option which I pay for.
I don't want to type it, I want to conversate with it
Maybe one day...
