Thanks, especially for the explanation of Concert Play. The Casio sales person at NAMM didn't know that Casio were adding new pieces regularly. That's a big selling point.

This is absolutely amazing what they have done with the gp 500.
I plan to buy Casio gt 300, because I enrolled in music college and
practicing with headphones is very important for me now. I would like to
know something about key weight, is it same as on acoustic grand?
How does this stack up to the Roland V-Piano in keyboard action & sound?
(Obviously the V-Piano is a stage keyboard & not an upright, but I'd love to know how the essentials compare).

Previously owned the Casio AP-620, which I also loved, but Casio really have taken things to a whole new level with the Grand Hybrid range, and especially with the gorgeous looking and sounding 500... Quite simply, this is an amazing musical instrument...!!!
If you're thinking about buying one -- just get one... you will not be disappointed...

Thank you for the review. I tried the GP 500 couple of times and it is a lovely instrument IMO. Had to watch this just in case I missed anything interesting.
Worth pointing out then, something that wasn't covered in this review. There are some additional advanced features related to string resonance and aliquot resonance that can also be adjusted on the GP500, that stuff is not present on the GP300. I only tried the GP500, not GP300. Not sure how big a difference that makes to the overall experience playing around with these. Just to point out to potential buyers. In other words, the difference between the two models goes beyond what is covered in this video, not only are there convenience features such as the ability to save specific settings on the GP500 that you can't on the GP300.
Whether the extra £ 1000 for such additional features and the lick of gloss is worth it only the buyer can decide. :) There may be some other things in there that are different between the two models. Another nice feature I found, I believe this is on both, the sustain pedal can be adjusted too to give different response curve, neat. :)
There is also a GP-400, isn't there? Without the gloss, but all the features of the 500, priced between the two £2699.
Chris, Yes there is, but at the time I wrote that comment only the 300 and 500 were available, the GP400 came a bit later. I've I never tried the GP400 since few seem to stock it, and none near me, but I gather the top speakers are placed differently also, along with the taller cabinet.
Is the sound in the standard settings the same both in the GP300 and GP500?
From what I recall, only tried the GP300 briefly, and the GP 500 a few more times since in more depth but it is some time ago now. Roughly speaking from memory, there are some differences in the sound yes when it comes to some smaller nuances like string resonance , the most noticeable is in the higher notes with aliquot resonance in the 500, overall the 500 does sound a bit better IMO. Best try it for yourself to find out how much that matters to you. Also well worth trying out the different voices, for me the Vienna was my favourite, not the hamburg or the default Bechstein in these instruments.
That said the GP300 can still do quite a few things the GP500 can do in terms of changing the sound, but annoyingly perhaps for some, you can't save multiple presets in the way the 500 can. In that sense the GP300 is very basic at this price point, I thought anyway, compared to some other makes, for example the HP 605 by roland, or the Kawai Ca67 by Kawai in a similar price range where you can save multiple presets.
Wow. I were thinking I am going to save up for the GP300. Compare the sound, they sound hugely different. The GP 500have more life to it. For CAD $2,000 more, I think it is worth it. Other question, is the difference come from the speaker or simply due to the system?
So, did I unsterstand this right: The only difference between the 300 and 500 is, that the 500 is polished, has 8 Sounds more and the Scences and is hence more userfriendly? The Hardware is exactly the same, but only the software in the gp500 was slightly changed to make the saving of scenes possible?
Im confused because the Price-difference of about 1000pounds seems so much for this little of a change. If thats the case I think I will buy the 300 :)

Eventually, the piano manufacturers will make these pianos so exactly the same as traditional pianos that they will have returned to the traditional piano.

98% talking. 2% piano sound. of the 2 % a SMALL proportion is on the 300. i guess they wanna sell you the more expensive one.
