Perfect politically correct answer. Being that you yourself is a Brand Ambassador to Denon DJ maybe you can make sense as to his reasoning for leaving. He claims he wanted Denon to implement Stems but they didn't want to go that route yet as soon as he leaves they announce Stems Beta for Prime 4+ which means it must've been already in the works.

You using DJ Pro AI on Denon gear instead of Engine... you're putting Denon in a rough spot. It's a Conflict of interest. So you leave Denon because you wanted stems, they declined to do stems, you left & once you leave they implement stems on a standalone...doesn't add up. You don't just code stem separation into Engine overnight. If stems was your priority then why choose the software that literally has the worst stem separation? Too many artifacts & they haven't refined it since. Denon's stems is still in Beta & comparable, if not better.
Relying on an external device ie phone/tablet/laptop vs a standalone media player is a step backwards

People complain about DJs switching gear or making new endorsement with DJ brand like it have an impact on their choice. Just because Luke is with Reloop now doesn't make your "old" Denon or Pioneer setup is obsolete (even if you're still using a CDJ 1000 or a Denon DNS-3700). You don't have to follow what your favorite DJ does or even buy your setup from just one brand. You also can have different "need" than your favorite DJ, even if you want to do the same thing like he does. You can do stem mixing like Luke on Serato or VDJ, scratch like A-Trak on a Pioneer controller or Denon vinyl (you'll need a lot of training anyway, no matter the setup), you can use your phone with Traktor DJ, there's no one way to do what we do, and it always been that way (even when Technics was the only option, it wasn't - but it was the more convenient).
Your personal dream setup can be 2 Reloop RP8000m2 with Phase, 2 Denon SC6000M and a Pioneer V10 in the middle (with an Inofader as crossfader), all connected to a laptop with VDJ 2023, and still using Engine or Rekordbox on the side for when you play on your friend setup (that's my dream setup btw, so don't hesitate to make some donation, Luke if you reading this and don't know what to do with those Denon ;) ).
Also, the choice Luke or any other DJ to be affiliated with a brand is his own choice, and doesn't change the way people enjoy his performance. They're professional, so they know what they do, how to do it, and how to make it work.
(also Luke, next meeting with Reloop, tell them to do a 4 channel mixer oriented for scratch, with a real crossfader and pedal fx, I can't be the only DJ who want to have the battle setup with a 4 channels mixer :) )

I ditched the 1200 mk2s in 1989 for the Technics SL-P1200 and two years later I was using Denon DN2000F by 2003 I went digital. First with PCDJ Red and then the same year Traktor Dj Studio, without a controller using a mouse and splitting the computer’s headphone output into deck 1 and deck 2 into a pa mixer that allowed me to have the same mono output from each deck on both left and right output of the mixer. Cue was through the solo so it was basic from there. Having played with the Denon first allowed me to see the software gui as playing in a two deck denon so no big change there except now the music was in the laptop. By 2008 I started using my 1200s again with Serato Scratch Live and using turntables again felt like riding a bike. I don’t do clubs anymore but at home I have my vinyl setup and still enjoy playing my records the way I started which keeps me in my toes and mixing by ear without any software crutch. I’ve seen many djs from way back that since came back with controllers and feel very cocky but when presented with turntables and true vinyl you see their hands shaking out of fear, the crutch has destroyed their confidence in skills they had. So I still have different controllers I enjoy playing with, akai amx/afx, pioneer dj ddj1000, ableton push 2 but I won’t ever let my turntables and vinyl go. Forgot to say, my journey started with belt drive turntables and disco music with human drummers that are not metronome perfect by any stretch. Thinking of buying me a pair of SL-B1 s like I had.

I grew up listening to do mixtapes… and those days djs were respected for the music they would source.
The a point come where it was about the music a dj had and what they did with them.
Now it looks like it will be who has the best app or what AI does the job best.
I love technology, and I have been a fan of your work since the mid/late nineties… but if I saw you ‘DJing’ from a phone I can’t say it would garner respect.
Sure it is cool to be able to play around on a phone, but that is not the same experience as mixing on hardwares (especially with an ai running the show) and I think you know it.

Nobody batted an eyelid because it's normal for musicians to be endorsed. The DJ world is rife with tribalism some positive and some negative, but equipment tribalism is the siliest of them all.

Thank you for saying this Luke. I took a step out of DJING for a bit, but you reminded me of why I love it so much. Because I like innovation too. DJ controllers made DJing accessible for me when I got started. Soon phones will make it really accessible.

Thank you for the honesty, and sharing your thoughts. I am glad to hear that there was nothing really negative about any of your brand experiences in the past. I feel people get to blind by brand loyalty and miss out on things that could be better because of it. I am currently in the Denon camp and have no ill will towards you or anyone who decides to jump brands. The important part is not the gear you use but how you use your gear and if you can use this new setup better than the old then you would have been dumb not to switch.

Huge respect for the straight up & honest answers. I can honestly relate to this video. I get so excited whenever new tech is released, I couldn't imagine being held back by a contract of some sort. You have to stick with what keeps you excited & creative. Reloop are innovative & make fantastic gear & DjayPro is getting better all the time too. I can see why you changed course. Hopefully we get to see a collab with yourself & DjAngelo rocking the Reloops in the near future!!

And now I guess you should switch again, because djay pro and Virtual DJ came out with stems on the same day 3 years ago
But VDJ now has a stems engine (v2) that is 10x better - but the djay pro one still sounds like it did back in 2020
... and VDJ of course also works with all the Reloop gear

First of all, thank you for your sincerity, it is not something that everyone does.
I have always had you as a source of inspiration and after watching the video I better understand the decisions you have made.
When you changed to Denon and showed the improvements compared to Pionner, I immediately understood the reason for the change.
However, this decision to use your cell phone is still difficult for me to assimilate. I know perfectly well that the future is STEMs but I don't think the future is using a mobile app (small screen). In addition, STEMs are already being implemented in all software.
I think what has been missing is a video squeezing out all the capabilities of the new setup, because the little we have seen in videos of your festivals has seemed that you are now much more limited (this did not happen with Denon).
You mention the Pionner DJ Sounds video and I think that in terms of technique it is one of the best sets you have done. I understand that as a DJ at a festival the selection matters more and people don't look at the technique. Maybe you could do a set taking full advantage of your new setup and that way people will be more convinced.

I really appreciate this comment! Thank you for coming with reason and the will to discuss! I do have a video coming up with the capabilities of my new (mobile) setup. Which, obviously I think is awesome and a breath of fresh air! Very happy stems are implemented everywhere now! Is my mobile setup the future? It is for me. But maybe not for a ton of DJs, which is ok! I'm really happy and convenient with this, and I just like sharing that feeling with you. Just like how emails are more convenient than sending actual letters. It's up to the user to decide to use it or not : )

I completely get your point. Personally, I stick with ENGINE DJ (For the moment I don't have a big budget for DJ gear so I just have a Numark Mixstream Pro that already does the job well) since it's the best standalone gear to me.
I feel more secure with standalone even if I mixed with a computer before without having any major problem. Djay Pro AI is an excellent product but my main problem with it is that it needs a mobile device to work...and this device needs to be an Apple... I'm really disappointed to see that they focus on one brand only !

Well handled this. You can't please everyone. Theres people probably still scoffing that you don't use vinyl anymore. Use the best gear thats available for your intended outcome. At one point in my life I was using Traktor with timecode cds sometimes timecode vinyl. A mixture of CD's and usb, records on turntables, and the kitchen sink for effects.

Happy to see a EDM DJ for Reloop. They have for sometime set a new standard for DVS and vinyl players. Last few years has mostly been Scratch DJs. Good to see them broaden the spectrum. Been a Reloop fan for years with a RMX90 and 2x RP8000mk2. Hopefully I get to try the elite mixer but, money is a factor. Hope Reloop gives you the opportunity to try out their club mixer RMX95. Curious about that one.

Yes sir! An RMX95 should be on it's way to me soon to try and test. I'm sorry to read about the money factor. And it's true, and shoot maybe I should mention that, how some of the top tier Scratch DJs are with Reloop! The EDM world is oblivious.

I love the App and the ease of use and way to create set lists and practice on your lap while watching TV. And then there’s all the other things your iPad/iphone can do besides 😂

I always loved music and I never had the balls to start dj'ing out of being so unfamiliar with how it all worked. I didn't have access to gear and didn't wanna buy an entire set up not knowing how i'd actually make out with it after trying. I came across the djay app and it lit the fire. Years later im doing gigs, recording mixes and having an awesome time with it. I don't blame you one bit for trying new things even if it's not popular. The future of dj'ing in my opinion isn't only with what you're saying but also starting to happen more often in VR....once the mixed reality technology takes off where you can see your equipment better, then things are really gonna change and you'll see even more people like myself get into the art. The proof is in your craft though, there's no need to explain every move you make. I've been a big fan for a long time
