This video made me change my mind about James Hype.
Despite not liking the genres he normally plays, the guy is undoubtedly skilled.
And I was under the impression he was a jerk, but he seems to be quite a normal guy.
#respect
Same! The way he does sometimes sort of looks like he has this superhero complex, but tbh after watching this my mind is also changed, and his skill level is out of this world, so yeah maybe he deserves a little bit superstar status :P
James Hype is one of the most humblest guys ive meet, hes come so far! LETS GO HYPE FAM!
Deffo! I thought he was American! 😂
He is down to Earth and has got skills. He works very hard. I purchased the Digital Dj Tips course and he is very open with sharing so many things he's learnt. His style might not be for all dj's but he does instill confidence for using and know your way around the decks.
Thanks! I am truly grateful to be here!
Learned so much in this one! Loving this series!
Big fan learned so much from u as well ... 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵
Hey Carlo big fan
James is a legend, bit like yourself carlos
love from indonesia
I learned a few things from your videos. Thanks for the effort!
The music and style is really not my cup of tea, but huge respect for James after watching this. He’s clearly worked very hard to get to where he is and I dread to think the hours that man must spend setting cues and loops in rekordbox.
Same.
Totally agree! James has a special talent to do what he does on the decks. I personally would hate to have to prepare my sets as much as he does, but I understand that kind of preparation is needed for his style of DJing.
James does a lottttt of prep work. He doesnt improv his sets at all, and thats okay. hes amazing at what he does.
Finally!!!! The master has exposed himself!!!
That's what she said

IM dead
How is this man not much bigger, humble and great mixing and remixing skills
Cuz the musics cheese af
He destroys great tracks but like he says at The beginning of the video
This didn’t age well. James hype is poppin of. 2 sets at EDC this May. And #1 song rn
@@coryclark3784 Hell yeah
@@stanyon Spotify charts say otherwise...
Absolute legend. Genuinely down to earth guy. Proper northerner. Class act
haha up north crew
Yes brother
Dj mag award should be given to this guy.
True !
Imagine a world where awards were given to people who actually meet the criteria for said award.
I tought I was the only DJ using the "mono split" haha
Now there is someone I can relate to !
What a legend
A five hour gig and he said he showed up with like 40 tracks. I love that. I have a whole new respect for him. I knew he was good but he is also very normal and humble.
Fun fact: James wasn't in the top 100 for DJ Mag this year. Like how bro. He's one of the only producer DJ's that actually makes it on the top 10 list for me as far as skill based DJ's in my opinion.
ikr
ikr
Yep
Crazy
It's because the Top 100 DJ list is a popularity contest and has nothing to do with mixing skill unfortunately
@@fitz_nz ikr thats right
In my opinion the best DJ in these days. Most of the DJs only focus in produce music but he has a great technique.
pity he cant scratch. laidback luke has been doing this for 10 years ever since hes first pioneer dj sound show. The tricks shown here are already done before, just that pity he cant scratch. Also speaking of best DJs. this is the king of djs, masterclass ruclips.net/video/Sa9UhaUePm8/видео.html
It's insane the amount of work this guy puts in to prep his sets. Takes a lot of time to prepare each of the tracks in rekordbox and then deliver on stage, mad respect!
This was a great interview and tutorial. More I watch James Hype versus some other DJs the more I like. So much planning, practice and creativity. Smooth transitions are great but with the new DJ tools available I love to see the creative stuff! Keep smashing it man 👌🏻
So I have been watching dj videos and gears and production like non stop for a month now, first now I noticed James , hats of man, I was just getting this overwhelmed feeling and now the fish is back in the water. Just awesome thanks for inspiring me back-on-track.
Its not that complicated, its all about a good musical ear and being well preparated. I think James Hype is one of the best DJs because he's making that work before every set!
Ok so basically he’s like 20 seconds into the mix and he’s already playing all 4 decks... Monstrous!
ikr
ikr
And I haven't seen him touch the sliders whatsoever, so he's using technology to beatmatch for him or using the same bpms.
@@paolom.6011 He only uses quantize, no sync in sight
@@francescog53550 of course he uses sync
Enjoyed watching the actual mix the 2nd time round more watching for all the little things James was talking about here!
What he says about learning from open format djing... its all about reading the crowd and learning from that. Was the hardest part of djing live learning. Love this video
I have never seen anyone manipulate so much music in such a short space of time ,absolutly tremendous 👏
I love hearing more in depth about James hype so awesome!
Wicked!! Love James. Just discovered him a few weeks ago on a Pioneer DJ episode during lock down. 🥳
The music and style is really not my cup of tea, but huge respect for James after watching this. He’s clearly worked very hard to get to where he is and I dread to think the hours that man must spend setting cues and loops in record box.
Fair play to James. Wasn’t expecting him to be such a tidy guy. Not my style but he is clearly highly skilled. Changed my mind about him after watching this. Deserves all his success and wish him all the best
I never get bored watching this guy play. He’s class 👌🏻
James Hype is an incredibly talented artist. Very informative! Keep it moving JH!
Wow!!! I took the intro of this very deep. Everything happens for a reason. James thought dj equipment was remix/production equipment and it has shaped the way he dj's in very unique amazing ways. Imagine if people laughed at James or didn't take him seriously. The more we love people, the more we let their uniqueness out and let them florish.
I have alot of respect for djs who prepare sets.
I just turn my system on, throw on a record and go from there
sure, I have to be dead on with track selection on the fly,
but guys who can prepare 4 deck sets are on another level
That is next level. My brain is fried trying to keep up with how he’s was doing that
Very inspiring! Thanks James and DJ Mag, God bless yall! 🙂🙏🏼❤️
Phenomenal video. Thanks for sharing this knowledge and these techniques with us.
He's really good explaining everything. Seems like a chill guy
Thanks so much for this! James Hype uses the decks like no other
Great description and right on point. Thanks James.
Great video. Thanks for sharing tips.
met this dude before he played club liv after watching his tutorials/streams for a long time. such a genuine dude and so extremely talented.
The video I've been waiting for. Can't wait to watch this again and soak it all in.
This was absolutely amazing!
Really great video and fun to watch. Nice one!
Sick!! Please keep doing these and tell DJs to tell more stories of their beginnings, I find them extremely valuable and inspiring!
Love his techniques of mixing 😍
FINALLY THE VIDEO I WAS WAITING FOR!
Really insightful video. I’ve taken a lot from this James.
What a lovely guy, totally frank, right on the button and a great way of explaining things...

I LOVED watching this. Cheers fella
Can't wait for this! 🙌
I’ve been around house music and DJing since 1989 and i must say i have a whole new love for the art since following james hype,so refreshing to see the mad skills and the way he remixes on the fly,who does this.
Thanks mate! This is amazing
Finally. True mastery and passion🔥🔥🔥
This guy is unreal , down to earth and such talent 👌💪 HYPEFAM
Master at work. Really impressive!
Very good video, love to see how James structures a mix.
Really, really great video! Totally get what he's saying about using Serato / Traktor but there's loads of stuff I can use in my 4 deck Traktor set up too. Thanks!
This setup costs more than my car 🤣
about 2.5 per deck not sure bout the mixer
One deck is worth more than my car...
Thats so helpfull thanks!!🔥
Huge fan of James! What a performer. Thanks for the vid! (Found it two years too late LOL). (Greetings from 60yr old techno dj and learned to mix on the Technics SL 1210 MK2 😂)
Respect mate, let's keep the vibes going!
Very nice insight on how to create epic drops!
Amazing Thanks James Hype & DJ MAG
I"m DONE. I never even imagined. You really gonna put in some work but just listening to the hot cues... I heard 3 other arraignments that are possible!!! WoW!! Thanks! And then QUANTIZE for the joint! I gotta lot of work to do!
This is REAL DJ, be the inspiration for the New and the old too, congratulations for the great job in mixing... 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Great mix mate!!! 🎼
Thanks james man. Great vid!!
Big congrats man!!!!🔥
THIS is fantastic! Love it!
amazing! respect to James!
So much buildup for a simple drop, but none the less very impressive
Great video
Thanks James, so helpful man 🤟🏿🙏🏿
Great interview!
Nice one - especially the down-lo on the in-ears
🧨🧨🧨🔝Loving this series!
Quality video from a great dj.
Sick Video 🔥🔥🔥
Learned so much wow. James Hype is insane
Well done Dj Hype, great video :)
The level of professionalism and passion this due brings to his craft. Much respect
Nicely done thanks for sharing the technics..
This serie is amazing
I haven't dj'd since 1210s (yep, it was a long time ago) but saw a video of him and wondered how he dj's sans headphones on 4. Some serious skillz there. 👏 as much live bootleg remixing as mixing. If it can be mastered allows so much creativity and freedom. Hats off.
Read an interview the other day where he talks about wearing IEMs when playing live, he has the master in one ear and the cue in the other. Edit - Nevermind, he covers it in this video!
I'm so happy this video exists 😂🔥
Incredible skills , bravo
Really honest and helpful info here. Right on man.
Damn, I like James hype even more after this video! This dudes real. Love it.
The mix is insane
James, you are a Musician. Respect
The skills of this man- insane!
Great guy, thank you James ! Awesome
James hype is a beast, that intro mix was crazy
Quality! 🔥🔥🔥
This dude is mental haha The fact he has the master on the right and mix on the left ear is crazy haha mad respect!
plus the fuckin monitors on each side....
I First saw James Hype on a short video on Ticktock back 2 yrs ago and i thought OMG who is this guy. Best dj i have ever seen apart from Carl Cox and the late Tony De Vit.
So many great tips!
Good stuff
Yesssss Lets goooooooo 💜🔥💜🔥💜🔥💜🔥💜🔥💜🔥
