He really just wasn't Finnacally prepared for an Medical emergency!! In the USA 🇺🇸 this is common and is normal..But in a Different Country you need to be more Prepared because the Government is not going to Help you the same as the states does..

My father spends 6 months in Ghana and 6 months in UK. He is semi-retired. The NHS is a luxury to have and not one to give up easily on. The chances of getting sick in retirement age is very high. Sometimes, it is better to retain links in western countries where medication is better. I've seen the elderly in Philippines and they do not look good.

Expats need to plan for a medical issue and death related expenses in the Philippines. Do your homework to see how much you will need to take care of these two important items. I would not rely on other expats to help me if I don't plan well. We're all grown men here.

I am a Muslim and everyone is missing a very important point. It was said that he has four wives in the Philippines with a pension of $1200 a month. In the USA you can't take care of one wife with $1200. Last year I spent three days in the hospital in Dumaguete and it cost me $1000 (50,000 pesos).

Big Man can get health insurance in the U.S. because pre existing conditions don't disqualify him with ACA (Obamacare). But outside the U.S., an acturary might state he is too high a risk of bad health and deny him a health insurance policy.
Calvin, Big man may not have the money to travel back to the US to see a doctor, then return to the Philippines. It’s not easy for some people. Also, a place to stay when you return to the states to see a doctor.

There are no direct flights to Guam from the Philippines after Covid. Cost is about $850 R/T, 12 hours w/3hrs layover. Foreign who are Philippines residents can get health insurance, AXA has great plans 🙏🏿

@@calroach1 Thanks for that info! It is good to have a ballpark figure. And although I'd like to buy a local plan to supplement Medicare coverage in the USA, I do know that most local plans will probably not cover pre-existing conditions. So of course, that would need to be a concern as well.
From what I heard, this is what happened. The lake of receiving his regular medication (from the US) and the use of the PH "quack" substitute medicine is the reason for his physical condition getting worse and landing him in the PH hospital. Beyond that he had no emergency funds to deal with what happened. Why all the push back against the Brother in the comments? He needs to insure his medical plan will cover all the medications he knows he needs, that can be sourced from within the PH. Unless I am missing something, this is what I heard.

That $1200 must be his social security. $1200 is really below average for social security and he must have been a really low earner in his lifetime or not worked for a full 35 years. Also he most likely dropped Medicare (this was not asked) as this would have taken $174.70 from his Social Security. If he did drop Medicare there are dates/procedures and rules which you need to follow to rejoin not to mention the 10% increase compounded each year so if he is 70 that $174.70 x 50% (10% x 5) = $262.05. Point is if he dropped Medicare you just cannot rejoin immediately when you get back and it will cost significantly more each month.

United Healthcare replaces Medicare and usually offers extra benefits that Medicare doesn’t provide.

Myself, I would plan a minimum of 10k for medical and 2k for funeral expenses, US dollars respectively. Be responsible people!

Big Man can get health insurance in the U.S. because pre existing conditions don't disqualify him with ACA (Obamacare). But outside the U.S., an acturary might state he is too high a risk of bad health and deny him a health insurance policy.

Calvin, Big man may not have the money to travel back to the US to see a doctor, then return to the Philippines. It’s not easy for some people. Also, a place to stay when you return to the states to see a doctor.

He's correct. Learnt his lesson about his health[...hopefully]. Using that 'alternative' medicine almost killed him. The stress/cost/time of trying to relocate back to US could kill him? There are no direct flights to Guam from the Philippines after Covid. Cost is about $850 R/T, 12 hours w/3hrs layover. Foreign who are Philippines residents can get health insurance, AXA has great plans 🙏🏿
I just watched this for the first time. For a person on the outside looking in, from what i just watched. I can't say the man wasn't ill. I believe he was. But i also feel, that he is over talking how good his set up/plan really is. He's hanging on by a string over there. For any man to say he got 3/4 woman in his life and non helped him while he was ill. There are not his women. They are strictly P4P woman. An he pump faking acting like these are really his woman, but they are actually Pro's.

Many more experienced expats suggest 20k dollars. We can't choose our emergencies. Who says that we have to live here permanently..
@@calroach1 Thanks for that info! It is good to have a ballpark figure. And although I'd like to buy a local plan to supplement Medicare coverage in the USA, I do know that most local plans will probably not cover pre-existing conditions. So of course, that would need to be a concern as well.
From what I heard, this is what happened. The lake of receiving his regular medication (from the US) and the use of the PH "quack" substitute medicine is the reason for his physical condition getting worse and landing him in the PH hospital. Beyond that he had no emergency funds to deal with what happened. Why all the push back against the Brother in the comments? He needs to insure his medical plan will cover all the medications he knows he needs, that can be sourced from within the PH. Unless I am missing something, this is what I heard.

@@calroach1I can see it in your interview that you realize this dude was lying. Have the dude provide the receipt for the hospital, everybody does it when they have done hospital stay videos. He said he had 70k and if he was at the hospital for 5 days that’s 20k. That’s 50k left for tests and treatments. I am sure he will have an excuse for not having the paperwork.

That $1200 must be his social security. $1200 is really below average for social security and he must have been a really low earner in his lifetime or not worked for a full 35 years. Also he most likely dropped Medicare (this was not asked) as this would have taken $174.70 from his Social Security. If he did drop Medicare there are dates/procedures and rules which you need to follow to rejoin not to mention the 10% increase compounded each year so if he is 70 that $174.70 x 50% (10% x 5) = $262.05. Point is if he dropped Medicare you just cannot rejoin immediately when you get back and it will cost significantly more each month.
