Very wise words, Calvin. I've been in Nam for 8 years and love it but you have appreciate the differences rather than make a problem out of them. When I visit the States now it reinforces what a great decision it was to move to Asia. I love it.
Thanks 🙏 Calvin ! I was so naive when I started watching your channel years ago . Still learning and after several trips to the Philippines 🇵🇭…. It’s definitely coming together. The plan I have is in motion. Thx 🙏
I happen to like it here, but if I didn't I wouldn't think of it as a failure if I left. First, if you came here I'd think of you as a does, not just a dreamer. I agree it makes sense to talk to people who are staying. Maybe they'll have some insights that you didn't think of. At any rate it can't hurt. Love your channel Calvin. You are very good at giving your viewers worthwhile content.
Yea you do make it look easy 😊 yea you need to get tough, you are right. Yea you need to talk to those who are successful in being there. Thanks for your video Calvin.
Preach, brother Calvin ! Coming up on my one year anniversary here, and I'm content in knowing that I got most of the steps right. Still struggling with infrastructure and expectation versus reality. I most grateful for my Filipino tribe in response to continually keeping this ship steering correctly. They keep me safe from harm. Love you all! 💜💜💜 Peace be with you Calvin . Salamat !😎
I have been in the Philippines for 15 years, but to tell the truth I like Vietnam a lot better, the immigration is a lot better one price you can come and go, here in the Philippines I have to pay close to 5000 pesos every time I leave, not much but a pain in the ass, I have noticed there are not the tourist there were before the pandemic, last year 5 million, Thailand 40 million, a lot of tourists were stranded here, really sad, I might relocate soon, my wife works OFW so we travel a lot out of the Philippines, things are the same in the Philippines no change, it is so corrupt it can't move up
The amount of mockery I suffered in the Philippines as an expat was a game breaker for me. I'm long gone from there.. the good old Philippines is nostalgia as far it's for foreigners.
I'm prepared and have been in 4 different to live. Am going back to the US because have had my fill of the Philippines. Just need a change. Has been a good experience, but time to open another chapter. Been here almost 3 years.
Embrace the change, the people constantly trying to scam you and take whatever they can from you. Embrace the rubbish and poverty and lies. But also embrace the beautiful people when you find them.
I went to the philippines last year, to see if I want to retire there. My wife and I have been married for 27 years. I have been there 7 times. After last years visit I decided it is not for me. My wife has no desire to return. She was there with our sons in 2019 at Christmas time. She said no she doesn't want to return. Now I want her to forget about supporting her family and let them go. When they die I have told her siblings there are no funerals to give the bodies to the fishermen to use as bait. I told my wife their is no more money for emergencies, her siblings feel entitled to our money and think I owe them a living.
Well spoken Calvin! I've been married to a Filipina since 2018. Their country and people are absolutely INCREDIABLE! We'll be there for good within the next 18 months! strongly looking into Liepa City.
As always, Calvin, your messages seem to be right on point I listen to you and a few others quite regularly and I know that I’m gonna be over there in February. I will be retired and as of right now I’m thinking I’ll wind up in Dumaguete but here’s the thing I’ve made no commitment to that. The only reason I picked doom is because of Paul old dog, new tricks and after listening to him saying his success, I started looking into doom, yeti it’s about the same size of the town I live in now told you before that I looked around at other places Puerto Rico Thailand and I know the Philippines is where I want to be and I’ve always been a firm believer of if you want to be successful. Do with the successful people are doing they’ve already mapped it out for you and if you do what they’re doing you should have similar success, which is why I started commenting more on your videos, the Filipino peas, videos, on Paul’s videos and so on and so forth so hopefully when I get over there, I’ll have some support. I don’t expect a lot, but I answer a question now and then or give me an idea of what I could do different to make it easier for me. You guys have been doing this for six years I would be stupid not to listen to you anyway I thank you for your time Calvin and know that your videos are being listened to and appreciated and you have pointed out things that I believe are going to make it easier for me when I do get there this February and I sincerely hope that I will get the opportunity to meet you someday
Having spent many years cumulatively in se asia , yes it can get tiring - the heat , the language barrier , the lack of inclusion into the local culture. It helps to spend some dough on yourself and get western food here and there , and run that aircon
just because people don't like the Philippine's, doesn't mean you fail. I've tried to live there with my Philippine wife, and she is from there, she doesn't want to live there either. If you like to live there, that's for you, everybody is different.
@@spurlworld maybe for another video. This is about men who LIKED it here and WANTED to stay but couldn't because of mistakes they made. I have no idea what video he watched.
she doesn't want to live there because she thinks it's greener on the other side....and she also thinks living in the U.S. or Europe elevates her status in the eyes of her neighbors, friends , and relatives
Keep doing what you do my Brother they are jut mad you're doing it and they aren't RUclips, The Philippines is big enough for everyone....If they spend more time focusing on Traveling and their channeles more would get done...
This is such good content Calvin. Hoping people that need to hear it do. Sadly, I think some just have to learn the " hard way". They will seek what they want to hear. Poor planning and discipline in life may have brought them to wanting an " affordable place" to live and not grasping the true cost. I do think the Phillipines could be like relationships..." a reason, a season, a lifetime". My only concern for you would be being married to my husband and what happened in his country to the people of Indian decent who had made a life for decades and a dictator came in and booted them out. I know there are no guarantees anywhere. You take leaps! And some are really not wired to handle such change no matter how many videos watched. Anyway, I know you may think it is weird but you are a Gemini..you excel at adaptation! The men who have found a new life, new wife, and stayed..years..decades..to me..those men already were wired towards commitment and determination. I really think your story you share is AMAZING! I know how hard life can be for a black man and you have beat so many odds. Do you check you bp? Healthy black people just seem to have high bp. Take care.
I watch these expat videos for entertainment only. Having been married for 18 years, have a 17 year old daughter, lived Leyte for 15 years-Typhoon Yolanda survivor-HORRIBLE-I don't think I am going to learn anything more about the Philippines then I already know. Enough said.
10/4 on the entertainment factor...20 yrs here and 10 in 2 other countries before PI.. I got people over here that are charging people for consultations that have only been here a couple of years. I am going to turn the big 70 next year and to start my journey now I would find very difficult. calvin is right about quite a bit but making your journey only about women is a big mistake imo
I was used to living in the tropics in Puerto Rico which is way more expensive than the Philippines. So I just want to retire in a place I can afford. What scares me are those typhoons. It is very tricky trying to figure out which areas don't flood or have no water.
@johnnyg7899 Go near Tagaytay and any typhoons severely dissipate after reaching land so by the time it gets there no big deal. However Taal volcano is active every few years with steam here and there. Nothing to worry about compared to Puerto Rico.
I'm turning 74 this month😅 and the family thinks I'm crazy I've always enjoyed new places and I'm thinking I love the Philippines so depending on my health at 75 I hope to make my decision so it's balls out from here get healthier and hope you guys don't mess things up before I get there and my main reason for coming is the women
Brother I have relocated from the US to the Dominican Republic. 99% of the things you raise in your videos are also applicable to the Dominican Republic. And in my opinion, too many other places. Keep preaching and those who are ready for the lesson will learn. Keep up the good work and I continue to wish you the best, your influence is bigger than you realize.
Spot on Cal! A lot of us will never learn until it's too damn late. Will be at the meet and greet for the first time on Saturday...see you then! Greetings from the middle east!
Hell.. I was suppose to leave two months ago.. my fourth time here and been here since mid February.. just extended for another two months until October.. that will be a total of eight months.. maybe extend again if I can get a family member in the states to sell the rest of my shit lol.. gotta make sure my house is built correctly here.
Some guys think moving to PI is a piece of cake. Different language, country, culture, etc. Dudes are prepared. Thank you for telling it like it is brotherman.
I like your wisdom, and wanting to share it sharing s carrying thank,s kiwi Pete from oz I once read in a book about the Russian front inww2 a German soldier said if if u want to survive u learn by other people, s mistakes..true so thanks again. ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
Amen brother..good information is good information..regardless of the messengers personality..personality has nothing to do with it..Listen to people like brother Calvin before you make ANY major decision in the phillipines…for example my weakness is Filipinas can manipulate me out of my money by being sweet to me and being all touchy freely…well hell, that’s 90% of the female population in the Philippines!,…so I need to learn to say “no”…that’s MY weakness, brother Calvin..otherwise I’ll be broke within a year..
What you are saying is soo "TRUE" The journey, the challenge, and changes start within you that you first have to embrase before travelling. It's a major difference between travelling to a place as a tourist on a vacation, compared to settling there for a long time. You have to be mentally prepared for the different kinds of life you will be living when the honeymoon phase once is over. I have seen many hit rock bottom when travelling to Africa and want to start a life there, without really being prepared for what life there is really about. Many have a big issue in not trying to reach out to expats or communities who are already there or have been living there successfully for many years. I dont know why that is
Great topic again. In my opinion it all boils down to trust. Trusting another mans opinion or advice. Most all of us have been burned in life by someone else and theyve come to the conclusion they cannot and will not trust what anyone else has to say. I myself find it harder and harder to trust other people. Im ashamed to say that, but its true. I am though able to apply common sense and wisdom that I have to sift through what i listen to and advice I get.
I'm fortunate to have a good wife here in the Philippines who takes care of the home as well as working in a good sales career. In the process of getting my 1A visa now. I grew up overseas as a kid, so coming here was easy.
I have just stumbled across your channel. I am ex-patriate living in UK 40 years and retired in 2024 I have a small pension egg and a state pension being paid by His Majesties government. I want to visit to have a look at the country and decide if living there permanently is realistic. I can live on the income from my pensions but want to be active. If I can live on £500 PCM which is my plan, I can actually save as I am not a drinker and have no vices requiring substantial funding. I have yet to test my theories and calculations. Planning to do this in 2025.
Common wisdom would dictate if it wasn't working at home, there's a good chance it won't work abroad. You can't outsmart yourself. To thine ownself be True! If you do not Plan to Succeed, your are in essence Planning To Fail! It's obvious why they go to the Philippines, you know that, because it's initially why you went! I like listening to your RUclips! 57 in Las Vegas!❤
All I can say is there must be some good stuff going on over there to be able to put up with the noisy roosters and squealing pigs. Some sort of equalizer. Whats the trade off?
Ahoy Cal, I would like to see information about Cattle ranches over there. Maybe I will come over and start a ranch. I eat beef and eggs every day and I feel great. No plants, oils or sugar. I am also into living on a sailboat and maybe take us on a field trip field trip to a marina. Thanks for the Show!
@@philippinesxtremes Those are karabu And no one eats those, except the deep moutain province locals and that's only if they desperately have to for survival..
Only the right type of person can move to a foreign country and stay there any length of time and be happy with the decision. Just visiting a foreign country for a week is not enough to know if you are cut out for it. An explanation is not enough to make anyone like the Philippines. You have to be able to walk alone. You are going to be a stranger in this new country. The people are going to treat you like a stranger. You are not like them. You are different. They are going to tolerate you. It is doubtful that they will like you. Unless there is something they can get from you. So you must be able to walk alone and be ok with that. Not everyone can tolerate this type of lifestyle for the long term.
I decided not to completely move to the Philippines. I come over for 10-12 days every two months. Plane tickets for six trips per year is about $7,000. I rent a condo for $500/mo ($6,000/yr). So for 13k/year, i can partially live in the Philippines and keep my job and benefits in the US.
Get a sailboat, my yearly cost of living is down to $3500 living aboard her. I'm Swedish and in Europe we have our own Philippines, Portugal. And a life jacket! That sounds wonderful! Are the waters free from pirates?
Ya but you’re still in Europe dealing with feminist western women… 😅
Any UV light concern ... Out in open sky for long hours ?
I like this but i couldn't imagine not being able to move or go for a run for so long.
Thats might be good for a while, but without a home base, when you get old, you will regret not having a home base. Trust me, Im there.

Very wise words, Calvin. I've been in Nam for 8 years and love it but you have appreciate the differences rather than make a problem out of them. When I visit the States now it reinforces what a great decision it was to move to Asia. I love it.
Good info. I moved back to the Caribbean and loving it. Best decision ever... Enjoy your life (responsibly) brother...
I have to agree with the doer part. The guys who have to leave think of it as failure not me.
Yea you do make it look easy 😊 yea you need to get tough, you are right. Yea you need to talk to those who are successful in being there. Thanks for your video Calvin.
You're right, bro. They fail because of their mindset, western expectation. Good advise.
I like philippines, great partner, here12 years, just medical is bad new. Now 70, it is a concern here now....
If they can’t take care of you and you need better medical care you can’t put a price on quality of life and health is wealth. Find a better solution
Healthcare is why I'm thinking Thailand instead of PI. My brother was there for 10 years & loved it.
💜💜💜
Peace be with you Calvin .
Salamat !😎
really good show , really solid points
Great Broadcast as usual…Thanks!
I have been in the Philippines for 15 years, but to tell the truth I like Vietnam a lot better, the immigration is a lot better one price you can come and go, here in the Philippines I have to pay close to 5000 pesos every time I leave, not much but a pain in the ass, I have noticed there are not the tourist there were before the pandemic, last year 5 million, Thailand 40 million, a lot of tourists were stranded here, really sad, I might relocate soon, my wife works OFW so we travel a lot out of the Philippines, things are the same in the Philippines no change, it is so corrupt it can't move up
you hit the nail on the head. the biggest problems are we like to talk and not listen. Keep up the great work.
The amount of mockery I suffered in the Philippines as an expat was a game breaker for me. I'm long gone from there.. the good old Philippines is nostalgia as far it's for foreigners.
Good words, Calvin. Hello from Mexico.
Hello. Mexico is my second favorite place particularly Playa del Carmen!
Hi Calvin, love your channel, don't know how to communicate with you but I'll keep trying, want to visit you in San Carlos!
Great video Bro.Calvin!
I'm prepared and have been in 4 different to live. Am going back to the US because have had my fill of the Philippines. Just need a change. Has been a good experience, but time to open another chapter. Been here almost 3 years.
Areas to live. Bohol, Dumagete, cebu, last panglao, Bohol again...
Embrace the change, the people constantly trying to scam you and take whatever they can from you. Embrace the rubbish and poverty and lies. But also embrace the beautiful people when you find them.
So true
Excellent advice Sir
Great info!
Thank you!!
Good advise. Honest opinion. Nowhere it's perfect but the Philippines is pretty good.
Been married to fillipina for 20 years back and forth that time cos I’m working nearing retirement can’t wait to be there full time I’m from oz
@@afather. 😂 Blunt & straight forward
Next time, see if you can develop your sentences. You don't need to be so brief.
Having spent many years cumulatively in se asia , yes it can get tiring - the heat , the language barrier , the lack of inclusion into the local culture. It helps to spend some dough on yourself and get western food here and there , and run that aircon
Live in a place that is cool in Asia. Somewhere that is not so hot.
just because people don't like the Philippine's, doesn't mean you fail. I've tried to live there with my Philippine wife, and she is from there, she doesn't want to live there either. If you like to live there, that's for you, everybody is different.
Good point
This video is about men who WANT to stay but can't. Who came here because they like it but made some mistakes. Thanks for stopping by.
@@spurlworld maybe for another video. This is about men who LIKED it here and WANTED to stay but couldn't because of mistakes they made. I have no idea what video he watched.
@calroach1 if I couldn't stay here, I would try another similar country. I really don't want to go back to America
she doesn't want to live there because she thinks it's greener on the other side....and she also thinks living in the U.S. or Europe elevates her status in the eyes of her neighbors, friends , and relatives
Thanks. I believe you have a lot to offer new guys looking to relocate here. Why not join one of my livestreams?
@calroach1 Tell, em', Calvin!
Nothing to worry about compared to Puerto Rico.
amen calvin change for growth have a great day
I'm turning 74 this month😅 and the family thinks I'm crazy I've always enjoyed new places and I'm thinking I love the Philippines so depending on my health at 75 I hope to make my decision so it's balls out from here get healthier and hope you guys don't mess things up before I get there and my main reason for coming is the women
Thai is much better if you're after is women
@@andimakan7779 He would need to learn Thai. 😂
Where do you work out? You're looking great!
Brother, it's been a white knuckle experience my whole 6 month here!
Good stuff Bro Calvin keep the videos coming.
Dang Sunshine, you’ve been hitting those weights. Keep it up bro.
Spot on Cal! A lot of us will never learn until it's too damn late. Will be at the meet and greet for the first time on Saturday...see you then! Greetings from the middle east!
How come you don’t mention keeping fit. You’re a living example.
Thanks. I upload videos but no one watches. Older men follow me and many believe that it's too late.
I enjoyed the video. Nice topic / content
Hell.. I was suppose to leave two months ago.. my fourth time here and been here since mid February.. just extended for another two months until October.. that will be a total of eight months.. maybe extend again if I can get a family member in the states to sell the rest of my shit lol.. gotta make sure my house is built correctly here.
If you are making overseas your new home just for a good time, you're going for a incomplete reason. Home is wear the heart is ✌️
Some guys think moving to PI is a piece of cake.

It's said that if you can't trust then you can't be trusted. You're more trusting than you imagine.
Mr Kelvin you're always on point 👉 the other Bloggers are saying something different
Man I like your videos,
I appreciate it. Glad you're enjoying my content.
The world is changing and you MUST have options. Now, here’s the kicker, if you don’t have options, now is the time to start creating some.
I’ve been to the Philippines and I know I couldn’t stay long term. It’s still a great getaway though
lol kindergarten of travel. True that. Appreciate the humility. Costa Rica another one
I'm fortunate to have a good wife here in the Philippines who takes care of the home as well as working in a good sales career. In the process of getting my 1A visa now. I grew up overseas as a kid, so coming here was easy.
I came to PH in June 2022. I love it here and have no plans to leave -- ever.
Dang I was just in Davao I would’ve loved to attend the meet and greet maybe I’ll catch another one in the future enjoy the video
I am a fan of your Channel, coming over to get married to the love of of your life is a beautiful thing. If she is the one, put a ring on it.
Slow down and be patient...hurry make waste
Sunshine should be lightning Storm, Driving the truth, God Bless you Cal, Love the honesty Bro, God Bless
Something for sure , l love the Philippines but l can't live there if l don't have income coming in .
Good advice!
Calvin, i thought you were retired AF. I guess you are living a dream. ✌🏾
No I didn't retire from the military but living my dreamed of life!
All I can say is there must be some good stuff going on over there to be able to put up with the noisy roosters and squealing pigs. Some sort of equalizer. Whats the trade off?
It's not that bad really.

Thank u 4 REAL TALK❤
I decided not to completely move to the Philippines. I come over for 10-12 days every two months. Plane tickets for six trips per year is about $7,000. I rent a condo for $500/mo ($6,000/yr).
So for 13k/year, i can partially live in the Philippines and keep my job and benefits in the US.
