Very few moving parts and easy to work on, as far as bottom end oil and impaler goes. Got it for a canoe and kayak. Bought it cheap so I wouldn't worry about rolling over and staff. I like to play lol.
researching these motors around the web it seems they are not sold ready to use as those of some mainstream brands. but that does not mean they are bad engines. they just require more care... specifically the main points are: 1) these do not come with any lubrication out of the box and require it at all moving parts. 2) these require a 10h cold water break in period with a 50:1 mix... don't skip it. 3) immediately replace the spark plug. there are more things but these basically are 1970s shipping engines so they require more wrenching to use. so don't expect Honda level fit and finish from the start and they will work fine?
I've got this motor as well. For a cheap little outboard have zero complaints. Mine takes 5 or 6 pulls on a cold start as well. Let it sit in the sun for 30 minutes, starts the first pull. Little motor will run a 14' 3 man Canoe 15mph loaded. I'm going to mount it on my kayak next.

Hull speed is 1.6 x the square root of the length of the hill. For a 16 foot boat (for example) the square root of 16 is 4, and 4 times 1.6 is 6.4, so a 16 foot boat can go 6.4 mph with a minimal amount of power (say 1.5 hp). Once a boat hits hill speed, adding power doesn’t do anything except make bigger waves and more froth/cavitation. That is unless the hull can be pushed into planing speed, where very little of the hill is actually in the water, but that generally takes a LOT more power for a displacement hull (such as a kayak’s) Practically speaking, a 12 foot kayak can move at 5.4 mph, unless you can figure out some way of hooking a 10 hp motor onto it (at which point the kayak would be unmanageable by mist mortals). Before I get flamed, yes, there are (of course) exceptions. Kayak hills are not all the same. Some plane easier than others. But, in general, the rules above provide a good frame of reference.
