The women at 3:35 told you "sănătate"( that means she wish you to be healthy) and told you when you come back in Romania visit her restaurant again.
Thanks for translating it to the viewers like me who don't understand Romanian language..I was wondering what is she talking..Romania is such a beautiful country with lots of historical places. Lots to learn from this country, love it! Wish to travel here in future😊
@@loosookwai when you decide to travel to Romania send me a message. I can recomand you a lot of beautiful places to visit. But I'm warning you, u will fall in love with this country.
@@serbanpetrusel6860 Sure..looking forward to it😊
You're not only traveling with love in your hearts, you're traveling with love in our hearts as well. You two are the best!
Alba Iulia was known as Apulum in Roman times. It was the permanent home of the famous 13th legion, which guarded the Roman province of Dacia. The same legion Caesar used to cross the Rubicon which began the Roman civil war. You can still see the ruins of the castrum (fort) of the 13th Legion in the citadel.
"Te Rog Doamne , lasa Rapid sa castige Liga Campionilor ! " 😂🤣🤣🤣 Buna rau asta !😅👍💯
Hopefully the handball team will win it :D
"Te rog Doamne, lasă Rapid să câștige Liga Campionilor" :)))) Also Steve the reason why the statue of Mihai Viteazul (Michael the Brave) was there is because he was actually the first person to unify the three Romanian historic regions of Moldavia, Wallachia and Transylvania. He did it in the 1600's and only lasted for one year; though it does carry a lot of importance because a (properly) unified Romania didn't happen three hundred years after that in 1918. The funny thing is that both unifications happened in Alba Iulia: in the 1600's Michael won the battle of Șelimbăr and entered Alba Iulia making him the de facto ruler of Transylvania; whereas, as you said, the 1918 unification was also signed in Alba Iulia.
Also had to mention that Romania already existed before 1918. First we got the United Principalities which was some sort of "proto-Romanian" state still under Ottoman rule. And then, in 1878 the United Principalities gained independence, but there were territories missing. The region of Bessarabia (modern Moldova and the regions of North Bukovina and Budjak in current Ukraine) were still under Russian control; whereas Dobrudja stayed under Ottoman control and later under Bulgarian (and of course, the whole region of Transylvania, which was part of Austria-Hungary). Throghout the years, Romania re-gained these territories and it was in 1918 with the annexation of Transylvania that the unification finally ended and all the historic Romanian states were unified.
Hmm no, he conquered Moldova and a part of Transylvania for a very short period of time… then the Romanians Transylvanian and Hungarian peasants as well as nobility from Transylvania didn’t recognise his rule I’ve ether conquered land and kicked him away, that’s nor an “unification” of any kind.
@@dacian_1346 We're talking about an ethnic Romanian ruler ruling, simultaneously, the three Romanian regions. It doesn't matter that it was for a short period of time (which I actually mentioned in my previous comment), the most important thing is that it meant a brief unification of Romanian peoples under a Romanian ruler.
He wasn't the first one. The first one was general Batista and the second was Hungarian prince Sigismund Bathory.
Heck, even Petru Rareș could be said to have unified all three provinces before Mihai Pătrașcu who was nothing more than a glorified tirant who turned the peasantry into slaves.
@@alexandru4193 Do you even know what an unification is ? 1. There was no concept of Romania nor Romanians, those in Transylvania had a different concept of ethnicity and nationality this calling themselves Transylvanians or Ardeleni ( prime example was Matei Corvin ) not Romanians ( which didn’t exists back then yet ), that’s what he was KICKED OUT by Transylvanian Romanians PEASANTS and also Hungarians along the way, they’ve seen him as a foreigner that conquered part of their land. An unification is done only by peaceful means, like referendums for example… not conquest and war otherwise Romania United too with Austria-Hungary during ww1 when it was occupied almost completely for 3 years😅. The only unification that happens in Romania’s history was the one of Wallachia and Moldova in 1859.
Dude is the best foreign ambassador for us romanians, lol. He knows some history, he even started to learn some words in romanian. If you like fortresses you should also go to Targu Mures, it's 90 kms away from Alba Iulia and it has a nice fortress also. Best of luck!
Love your vlogs ❤️ hope u wear the Pakistani cricket tee again ❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 and love to Romania amazing people from half British half Pakistani guy here 🇵🇰🏴
Your enthusiasm for Romania is so contagious!! My wife and I are expats from Timisoara and love watching you enjoy your trip through Romania! Much love the both of you, looking forward to your second Timisoara visit!
루마니아가 점점 더 좋아지고 있어요🥰 참 매력적인 곳이에요☺️
That fort is built on top of another fortification built by romans in the second century. It was the base of the 13 th roman legion "Germina". 2000 years ago The name of the city was Apulum.
I think that the legion was Gemina meaning that it was decimated and the second was actually based on new recruited people.
@@ionelghiorghita688 Gemina se numea legiunea,nu avea legatura cu decimatul
The smoked bean soup , you eat the bread by taking mixed bread and soup with your spoon from the inside walls of the bread 😊
I can't believe u came to alba iulia,i'm sad cuz i didn't get to see you but happy u came here
I'm from Alba Iulia and i been whatching you from when you meet Catalin BackPack, greets!
I am so glad that you arrived in Alba Iulia. I was one of those who suggested you visit this city last year. I'm glad you liked the city I live in.
Beautiful town. Loving the drone shots. Nice accommodations. Food looks yummy. Keep safe, healthy and happy.
2:40 "The car is a rental? " 3:42 "will you comeback next year to visit more in Romania?"
Funny, at the entrance of that village shop [very traditional, I must say, a combo of a convenience shop and a bar], where you had your coffee, there's a notice in Romanian "We don't serve drunks", with a self explenatory drawing. Then you have those guys at the tables, having beer in the morning :))
Welcome back to Romania!
I think the man with the parking place meant that anyone can park where he wants on the paid places until four o'clock, after this hour must be your place to be able to park the car
He was right Steve...until 4 PM is a spot for everyone but afther 4 PM until 9 AM is for the residence only, who leave there, so your airbnb have the parking place from 4 PM until 9 AM !
If you don t go anywhere by car and you can leave it there no problem. It only works for the empty spots
Hope you have time to visit Hunedoara County (Deva, Hunedoara, Orăștie Hațeg, Petroșani). These are like towns but all have something special. In Deva you can see the citadel and close to Deva there is a village called Balata, where every sunday there is a bazar (with old stuff sold and new- 5 ron/pers entrance). In Hunedoara I know you visited the castle but you can go around to Lake Cinciș. Hațeg for European bison reservation, Orăștie for ancient sites (Sarmizegetusa) and Petrosani (Jiu Valley) for mines museums to see what people used to work in the communism
don't forget about the mountains... more and more people from around the country and outside of it, have fallen in love with our slopes in the winter and the views... well, all year round LOL.
The lady from remetea was so nice to you. Such a pity you couldn t understand her
If you are going to Sibiu, remember to eat Ciorba de burtă at Kontiki restaurant. Probably the best in the country.
Sweet couple thank visit romania
A beer at 7 am might be the most rural romanian thing yet 😆
@Andy Ash for me,drink beer to 7 am is too late )))
Wow, You have you been to Poiana Aiudului, the place where I spent my childhood vacations and where I have relatives. Once upon a time, a discotheque was held in the building next to the road.
Lovely, warriors, this coverage of the more western regions of Romania has been our privilege, it has been like a beautiful gift.
So much effort has been put into it and your interest, affection and excitement have been palpable the whole time.
I can only say the expansive green hills and valleys, the old villages and cities are exactly the sort of places I expect to be reincarnated in later on, except Christians don't get reincarnated.
It was all terrific fun too and just seemed like going to a party at your place, and saying thanks to you for the invite is hardly enough.
Steve, that Latin-rite Catholic cathedral of Alba Iulia was first set up by St Stephen (your namesake), first King of Hungary, who established the Latin diocese of Alba Iulia. Just so you personally can identify more with this city.
I think Alba Iulia had a Catholic plurality (about 41%) until the 1930/1940s. The thing is the majority of the Catholics were not Latin-rite Catholics, but ethnically Romanian Greek-rite Catholics. These Greek-rite Catholics were shut down by the Communists in 1948, but still have a Major Archbishop of Alba Iulia and their cathedral church is in Blaj, 40 km away. They were quite numerous in Cluj and Oradea too (that also have a bishop each) , two cities you showed us so well earlier.
Servus sehr schön Rumänien 🇷🇴 👍👍👍
Beautiful...Beautiful sights. I think would enjoy that soup!
10:20 😆😆😆😆💪😍 suntem peste tot acasă; porțile ni se deschid. Nu-i echipă mai frumoasă; și iubită ca Rapid!
Love you guys, so happy to see you back in RO, loving your energy and your bonding as a couple. Rapid fan??? My other love since 7 years old!!! We wait for you on Giulesti every single time you guys can. Andddd put a ring on it, man! Make some 5 (at least) Romanians kids with worldwide roots and grow them in our country. I'm sure you both you will find here exactly what you want. A whole big happy family!
Te rog lasă Rapidu sa câștige CL! That quote made my day!
Enjoy our beautiful country!
Fzr!⚽️⚽️
Hi Steve lvana. Looks like you both had so much fun there. Epic drone footage. Accommodation looks very comfy and spacious. Thanks for another awesome video. Cheers guys !!!
Both of you are awesome! You deserve at least 10M subscribers. I hope I will meet you in one of your adventures. Forza Rapid!
Since you guys are quite close by, you should also visit Sibiu and Sarmizegetusa (the Dacian Kingdom capital). Then you may check out the Danube Delta, the Berca Mud Volcanoes, Cheile Bicazului and Piatra Neamt.
The drone zoom-out frame in Alba, OMG!
Man you are the best foreign ambassador of Romania 😉😉😉
Like you said very very foarte bine 👍🤣😂😂😂
Mihai is Michael in Romanian. About the three kings/rulers you mentioned there's Vlad Tepes as well who is a big and important name as he defeated Ottoman Empire.
Well,is Stephan the Great,Mihai the Brave and Vlad the Impaler .
Hi Ivana and Steve don't forget to visit Deva is not far from Alba -Iulia
lovely video, thank you for sharing
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA amazing such a beautiful CITY! best city
3:31 in Romania we use to drink beer in the morning instead of coffe ❤🎉
You are amazing guys ! Love your spirit
Actually , Mihai Viteazul managed the First Union - in 1600, but it lasted only few months, he was killed at Turda in 1601. Tara Romaneasca and Moldova re-united in 1859 and in 1918 they were joined by Transilvania- > Romania Mare (Big Romania). And then the Soviets took a big chunk again (parts of Moldova, Bucovina ..) till this very day. The three main Principates (formed over time from smaller regions) - Tara Romaneasca, Moldova and Transilvania were similar to the "Lands" of Germany, or the Cantons in Switzerland - they were always Romanian (after the Romans conquered Dacia) but under the influence and sometimes partial occupation of three big Empires (or some combination of) : Otoman, Russian and Austro-Hungary Empires. The Austro-Hungary Empire occupied for a while part of Transilvania (the influence is visible), hence the claims and the "friction" you mentioned the other day.
I like that you explain so accurate the Romanian history because a lot of young and old generation they are not interesting to know the real Romanian history I live in United States from more that 24 years and I miss the beautifulness of my country Romania be blessed brave man
@@doinailiescu6668 Thank you. Not really an expert in history, but I am always interested to learn the story behind a place, an object, a person ...
At the same restaurant I've ate when I visited Alba Iulia, nice place!
You know more Romanian history than a goood part of the Romanians :)))))
The place is breathtaking 😍
Safe travels! Beautiful pictures and videos! Great Job.
Love you guys. I’m rediscovering my country through your eyes 👀.
Glad you enjoied Alba Iulia! 😃
The rule with the parking place is that until 4 P.M., IF the spot is empty another car can stop there...
****** GREAT JOB guys...!!! Love this journey in FANTASTIC ROMANIA ! *******
My favorite travelers by a longshot! Especially ever since you guys became Rapid fans. :)
Vă iubesc pentru ca iubiți, România!
JLW you have really opened us outsiders to Romania, so beautiful. Love your drone shots. The lunch Ivana had looks yumms. Terima Kasih Steve & Ivana Bolehh❤
In the small shop where you bought the coffee, the lady that surved you has so pleased 😊 and she asked if you will come again. Have a safe and a lovely holiday, all the best!
Tempatnya sangat bersih, tidak ada sampah, tidak ada coretan tinta
10:23 maaaan 🤣😂 sick message😂😂👍👍
hahaha
Good places to visit also:
Sarmisegetusa (both the anient dacian one and the roman one, also at the entrance of the roman sarmisegetusa near Hateg, they have HUGE mici, also near Sarmisegetusa, at Clopotiva you can do paragliding)
Baile Herculane (thermal water prings resort in a mountain valey with lots of hicking routes, waterfalls to visit (my favorite is Cascada Vinturatoarea), rock clinbing and it's cheaper now since it's outside of the sommer season but the thermal springs are good even in the winter, so lots to visit in this region and relaxing sulfurus thermal springs, I last visited this place in march and there were -4 degrees celsius at 11 pm and was boiling in the sulfurus thermal wather outside)
Alba Iulia is really old, inside the fortress there are roman ruins of the previous settlement a castrum (roman fort), back when the town was part of the Roman Empire it was called Apulum
Rimetea, near Aiud!👍
awesome
Min. 10,20... you are verry funny, guys. Have a nice trip.😉
If you guys are still in Alba Iulia these days maybe we can meet and I can show you a few things around!
Oh,you two are so close to the town were I was born an lived until 22.Visit Aiud! It's about 15-20 minutes from Alba Iulia. It has an amasing fortress, and a big cient museum.
10:25 You got it, brother!
Legio XIII Gemina,[a] in English the 13th Twin Legion was a legion of the Imperial Roman army. It was one of Julius Caesar's key units in Gaul and in the civil war, and was the legion with which he crossed the Rubicon in January, perhaps the 10th, 49 BC. The legion appears to have still been in existence in the 5th century AD. Its symbol was the lion.
Under Trajan the legion took part in both Dacian wars (101-102, 105-106), and it was transferred by Trajan in 106 to the newly conquered province of Dacia (in Apulum, modern Alba Iulia, Romania) to garrison it.
yaaaaay moooooree mooooorreeeeee LOVE IT
THANK YOU. LOVE YOU.💞💐💞
I will come romania very soon so nice thanks bro
bet u had fun on the entry road in Aiud :))) the citadel in the center is like from XIII century and the building on the other side of the road from it, is the oldest high school in Transylvania. if u get back in Aiud, in the center of the town it's the best bakery shop ever. if u ask anybody on the road about the best covrigi(and other) will point u to that bakery
The rule with the parking is for real and if you think about it, it makes sense because most people go to work until four.
If the park space is your he must move his car. Doesn't matter the time you tell him . Even before 4 pm. It's your car park space. The guy took advantage that you don't speak Romanian and you don't know the rule.
But yes he shouldn't argue just came and move his own car. Otherwise why he let the phone number on the screen? To be called by the one owns the car park space.
@@adinamariaflorescu8902 ce ai ma ca nu e asa
Five stars!
You got to have elderflower lemonade(bodza). Never go back
You guys should try google translate when you’re there… the lady that made you guys the coffee was asking you guys how long you have been there and was telling you guys to come back year after year! Safe travels!☺️🙏🏼🇹🇩
The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page 🧑🏻
OMG the place with the AIRBNB -- i used to live there :O
Oh you are in Alba Iulia? If you are here guys, i buy some coffe and show you around here 😊. My favourite dears one. Kiss you guys 😘😘😘
Steve, about the lady who served you coffee: she asked you if the car is yours or it is from a „rent a car” service. Also, she said „avec plaisir”, which (you should know some French:))))) is „you're welcome" or „cu plăcere”. At the end she said she hope you will come back in Romania, again.
Romania country firstly born in Iasi in 1859 when Moldova (Iasi capital) and Tara Romaneasca (Bucharest capital) unified. In 1918 at Alba Iulia was signed the unification with Transylvania.
I don't know if you have been there or not, but you must also visit the Praid salt mine, it is located in Harghita county, it is phenomenal.
you should visit thr Danube Delta 👀💪
Yeeeee aku sangat merindukan video ini terbit
Visit Hunedoara and Deva. Nice castle and fortress.
The lady she was asking you if it is your own car or did you rent it. And to return back to visit her.
She also asked : "De cât timp sunteți pe aici?" Directly translates as "for how long have you been around here (in this place/ village)?", or basically "when did you arrive?".
Romania has started to exist since 24th of January 1859 when the two principalities, Vallachia and Moldavia, succeded to unite despite the opposition of most great powers and especially the Ottoman Empire whose vassals the principalities still were, but the romanian politicians back then were really great and achieved a spectacular diplomatic victory.
Independence from the Ottoman Empire was gained in may 1877 and then, at the end of WW1(1918) the 3rd principality, Transylvania united with the first two, but all 3 united also with the other half of Moldavia, Bessarabia(R. of Moldova today) which gained its independence first from the disintegrating Russian Empire
and thus Romania became whats called the Greater Romania. And now you know :D :D
go to Craiova, friday match at a beautiful stadium!
