Great video. My wife's brother and his wife live in Alba Iulia. He was sent there in the 1980s when he was in the Romanian Army, and was there in December 1989 when the revolution went down. Very scary and dicey at the time--the stories are incredible but somber. He got out of the army in 2002 after a 20-year career so he saw both sides of the military, during and after the Ceausescu regime. They have lived there ever since the 1980s and love the town. We had a great time visiting as well. Enjoy your travels!

Hi Brian & Carrie, Wonderful video as usual. Just wondering, how is Surfshark working out for you? We are planning on a trip but currently do not have a VPN. Thank you for your beautiful videos. Also, was that car an automatic or a stick shift?😊
Thank you!! We love Surfshark and use it on our phones and computers. You can even activate the "kill switch" feature that won't allow you to connect to the internet without having Sirfshark connected first. In our opinion, it is a must. And, it is inexpensive so why not? The car was a stick shift! I hadn't driven a stick in 30 years but it all came back to me with no problem. 🙂 Thank you for watching our channel!! Cheers!!!🍻
Once again, thanks for the info about Surfshark. We will get it. Brian, you handled so smoothly that's why I was wondering about the car being a stick or not. Guess I won't rent a car in Europe, never drove a stick. 😄
before ww2, romania was called the "switzerland of the balkans/ of the east", for its scenery and good development back then (economy was neck on neck with spain) slowly i see some switzerland vibes again 0:20
România was never called that but only Transylvania, since the geography is very similar and also demographics too, both countries have 3 offices main languages and 3 main ethnic native population.
Romania is very diverse. Different parts of it, totally different scenery. That's because of its tumultuous history and foreign influences. The landscapes are also very diverse and you'll see mountains, delta, sea, pine-tree forests, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, old monasteries aso. Just be careful with the bears. There are approx 5500 plus wolves and other wild animals. Bears often come out from the forest and tourists feed them. That's really dangerous.
How was renting a car in Romania? Can you give some points on the process? Did you need an international license? How much was the rental? Did you have to buy insurance? If yes, what did you buy? Did you drive across any bordering countries? If yes, did it cost a fee, how much?
Hello, great video. R U still living on a base budget of $1800 a month? Or did you have to adjust it for inflation? What equipment do you use to make and edit your videos?
We are using a Canon M50 and Premier Pro for our editing software. We were using two cameras, a Sony a6400, and an M50 but using two different cameras makes color grading difficult in the editing process. We are going to do a video soon on how we do a video from start to finish in the coming months. Thank you for all the questions! Keep them coming!! Cheers!!!🍻
@@BrianandCarrie It's my understanding that you can create great videos with a Gopro and travel light at the same time. Also I hear the that with the new macbook air you can edit videos faster and better.
The GoPro, DJI, and even cell phones are becoming better all the time. The camera industry should be interesting in the coming years. Premier Pro is still the leading software in the industry and once you learn to use it becomes very efficient. Although it may be too advanced for some it is what we started on. We may someday upgrade our laptops and change editing software but for now, our budget definitely won't allow it!😆

I'm English and I live in Alba Iulia ♥. Love your videos of Romania. The star shaped fortress you explored has alot to offer. You had time to see some of it, but missed the Roman museum (in front of the University) the Iconography Museum, several other museums and an entire walk between the inner and outer walls. There you would find fab bars and restaurants, one of which (the Chechz Inn) often has live music. There are lovely gardens on the walk and some roman ruins. Throughout the year there are cultural events, free concerts, and an International Film Festival, in August (I think). Really glad you came to Alba. Hope you'll come again ☺.

Hi, we were actually loaned the car and only drove nearby where we were staying. So, unfortunately, we can't share much info.
please go to Timișoara
That video will be out tomorrow!!
Cheers!!!🍻
We may someday upgrade our laptops and change editing software but for now, our budget definitely won't allow it!😆
What type of VISA did you have to apply for to be able to stay for so long in Europe? Or do you come back and forth and get a new VISA each time?
Hi, Andrea. We did a video on this last month called "How to avoid the Schengen rules" basically we move in and out of the Schengen area to stay as long as we want to without a visa. Here is the link.
Cheers!!!🍻 ruclips.net/video/5LkNca8Si6E/видео.html

Thank you, Jane, for sharing this. We loved our time in Romania and plan to return someday. Not sure that we will make our way back to Alba, but we did have a great day. So glad that we had the opportunity. Thank you again!
Cheers!!🍻
I am romanian sweetie and I say death of romania forever
Check out anything and everything by Charlie Ottley.
Oasa is pronounced Washa. If you ever go back ask for the very friendly monk Father Sava, he is an American and has been there for over 20 years. He will give you a tour.

Pub13 was a good restaurant. The food is bad nowadays. This is my hometown by the way. Alba Iulia I mean.
We wish that road to be a highway... but it is only a national road ... :-)))
Alba Lulia is another of the Transylvanian cities founded, and cultivated by German colonial immigrants of past centuries. It German name is Karlsburg.
Hi there, amazing video may I please ask if you can share the cost of the car rental and where did you rent it from. Thank you so much ❤
Hi, Penny. Our Airbnb host loaned us the car for the 2 days we were there, otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to afford one. Thank you for watching!!
