  • 2024 KTM 300 XC first real single track ride. After my last video, many messaged me wondering if this bike could go slow? Could this bike be a good trail bike in the tighter, more difficult trails. Well, GoPro makes everything look flat and easy but this video is for those that asked, "could it go slow". Enjoy.

    I went up 2 teeth in the rear on my '24 300 XC. Fixed er right up. This bike is a true masterpiece. If people are having tractability issues with this bike, it ain't the bikes fault lol.

      Agreed. 14/48 sounds tall to those of used to a different tranny. Easy to forget that internal hearing changes things as well. Buddy of mine just bought a 24 as well. He put a 13 on front (now 13/48) and says it helped a bunch but still wants a pinch more. Also, just saw a video on the 24 XCW and that guy says they are 13/45. Really different!

      @@dirtabletv Agreed! 14/50 seems to be great for me. But something else commonly forgotten is no two opinions, in the same way that no two trails, are the same. What's perfect gearing for one will often not be perfect for another. But I think most will agree the factory gears on the new XC are a bit long.

      @nightrider4370 Год назад +4

      @@ShadowsFirst I'm gonna try a 13 first on the front just because it's easier and cheaper. Then I can tweak it if need be? I'll bet I'm right around the same as you when it's all said and done.

      I have a ‘23 and 100% agree. Unbelievable bike.
      I have to ask though. Why did you go up 2 teeth? Is it terrain, or something else? I’m “new” to dirt bikes (took a 20 year break after high school) and I feel like 1st is plenty low. But I’m also still learning trials skills. And I can’t yet pop up on the back wheel for a pivot turn. I feel like that’s a skill/timing thing and not a final drive ratio thing?

    Mine works great. 2024 xc,300 - gearing 14/48. I was amazed by the gearing, yet it still lugs and it gets traction. Love the forks now that I have the right springs. Very happy

      I went to the most recent map update and 13/48. Love it!

  • @TeamStruggleBunny
    @TeamStruggleBunny Год назад +2

    Can confirm - it can lug. If you want to get into more technical terrain add a fly wheel weight. In the slow rough stuff the bike overall is a bit firm, suspension and frame. You feel it and it works you a bit harder unless you can carry more speed. Sort of how an xc-w will not be as happy as the xc on an MX track or blasting along at speed on rough terrain, the xc is less comfortable than the xc-w banging over roots and rocks in 2nd gear.

    I’ve ridden the 2024 TX 300 a month ago on a mares bike.. he either went up a tooth on the front or down 2-3 on the back… which will make the bike even more snappier… but it forces you to ride up another gear, … it made the bike flow really well. Might be worth a try since it has so much low down torque 👍🏼

    Hey, I ride trails almost identical to the trails your riding in this video, I ride in western Pennsylvania. Im currently looking at getting a 2024 Ktm, in your opinion after riding both of them would you go with the xc-w or xc for the trail riding shown in this video? I ride trails identical to yours but with lots of hill climbs and creek crossings at times, I’m 17 year old 195 pounds. I can not decide on what one to go with but leaning towards xc-w I think even tho I like the look/ styling of the xc better

    Stock and it’s 14/48. Way too tall. With clutch work, it’s okay but it needs more gearing for this kind of riding. Just my opinion.

      Sounds like it runs very well on the bottom end, and pulls super clean. Hate to admit it but sounds cleaner than my carb bike. Needs at least a 13T, and maybe a 50T as well?

    Riding flat ground in the park is not much of a test. Where are the root mazes, steeps, and wet stream beds? Harder conditions are necessary to test the clutch, cooling system, fueling, and stall resistance.
