Hot, not boiling water, does a really quick job of taking these bits off. The hot water does no damage to the body work. It also makes it easier to remove residual tape with a cloth immediately after.

I find 'sticky stuff' orange based remover works well. You can just massage it in with your fingers so no risk of scratching and as you work it in the glue just kinda dissolves and can be wiped off with a nice soft microfibre cloth. Repeat until squeaky clean, job done. Remember to use panel wipe or isopropyl alcohol (diluted) to remove the orange oil based stuff before sticking new badges on. Also before you remove the old badge heat it with a hairdryer to soften the glue, easier to pull off and often don't need to lever with a tool so safer for your paintwork

A better idea and far better for paintwork is to heat the badge you wish to remove with a hairdryer. The heat softens the glue, apply more heat if needed and then doesn’t require you to be so harsh with your plastic spatula on the paint work. Once the badge is off apply a bit more heat and the excess glue should rub off
